The in bounder isn't a concern, as not enough time for her to inbound then receive pass to then shoot. My guess is she's out of position. I'm sure the coach for TN wanted someone down low to defend for anything close to the basket. Definitely some miscommunications or bad defensive call. Nonetheless, she hit a big shot. grats to her and SC.

I wouldn’t have had anyone on the inbounder.. have 3 individuals guard 3 shooters and then have 2 others guarding the most likely shooter.. but whoever it goes to, the next closest person rotates over to at least put a hand in their face as they shoot.. no time for an extra pass so whoever gets it will be the shooter. This is horrible coaching and just.. horrible game IQ by the players.. that or they have no heart to just let her catch and square up like that.

Yes, they had a timeout in their pocket. In her post game, she said she didn't want to use it because she didn't want to give SC any time to setup a play, so she (curiously) decided to try to coach up her players from the sideline to defend a pass to one of the "shooters". They didn't press her on why they chose to not defend the inbound pass or how she believed they could get an inbound, pass to a shooter, and score with just 1.1 seconds on the clock though. It was not a good look for them at all.

it actually wasn't bad defense. I wouldn't defend a player at the 3 point line that had never hit a 3 pointer in her entire college career. Dikembe Mutombo, Robbert Parris, and Tyson Chandler never hit a 3 pointer in their NBA careers. They played 18, 19, and 21 years. No coach in the history of the game would guard either of these guys at the 3 point line at the end of the game.
