The tediousness of the gameplay and building mechanic doesn't bother me. I played a ton of The Forest when that game first got released and absolutely loved the focus on more realistic building. To me, while it can be a chore sometimes, having to chop down tons of trees and carry the logs back to my base over and over was an enjoyable part of the gameplay loop because it added an extra layer of immersion. Tbh it's one of the main reasons I really want to get back into The Forest again.

@@bronzebacon2401 I payed around 15-20€ at the time of release, and it's definitely worth it, especially at the price of 2,50€. I've put almost 200 hours in the game and still haven't finished the story mode, i'm just having fun building :D It's a really good underrated game, for me personally one of the best survival games. It's on par with The Forest, but some things are better in Green Hell in my opinion. Here is are some differences between Green Hell and The Forest: - The Forest has a faster building system, you can build large forts fairly quickly, the game is a lot scarier and the combat system is more fun and engaging, you have more weapons and gadgets. It's more fun to play this game in co-op. - Green Hell has slower building, it's meant to build a small cozy base rather that a fortress (although if you have time and patience you can build something big) The story is much better and more interesting, the atmosphere is prettier in my opinion, the whole map has more varieties and places with different vibes, sounds and music are nicer.. Combat is not that great but you're supposed feel very vulnerable and only use combat as a last resort. It's not a horror but you definitely get scared often, animals can sneak up and stealth-attack you, and you always have to be wary of the mad tribesmen, it's creepy when you hear them or when you get noticed. There is co-op if you want, but if you really want to enjoy the full experience in story mode it's better to play it single player. You're supposed to feel isolated and alone like Tom Hanks in Cast Away. But co-op is fun for building and chilling. It's a great game to just chill and enjoy the atmosphere near a campfire when it's safe, the sounds of the jungle, the rain, animals.. Also without any spoilers, there are some spiritual/mystical aspects to the story which makes for a beautiful experience.

The chopping then gathering totally ruins it for me , ark has much better crafting. I can’t stand having to pick up the logs and sticks after I chop a tree . And in early game the tools really suck , they should last at least twice as long . The crafting is so bad that it takes the fun out of building for me

Yeah i agree, the crafting and gathering items can become tedious.. But personally i got used to it after a while and makes it very immersive because it's a struggle, you feel tired almost like your character. And you're not really supposed to build large fortresses and bases in this game, it's meant to build small cozy camps like outposts, and always be on the move in Story Mode. But yeah, once you finish the story and want to build something big it can get tedious. But there are cheats to build instantly if you're up for it. Durability of items increases later on the more you craft and unlock new recipes and ideas. Also the more you chop and attack the more your skill raises. Some players farm skill points by constantly hitting a live turtle on the shell using different tools and weapons, because it doesn't take damage on the shell and it always stays alive. Tip: Items made from bones are cheap and have a decent durability. You can easily find bones by harvesting larger animals or tribesmen. I think 2-3 bones, 2 ropes and a normal stick is the recipe for an Axe, can't remember. Also, search the floors inside caves for Obsidian stones, they also make for durable tools. Or you can find machetes and metal axes in some camps, you can look for exact locations online. Cheers!

I mean...that's the whole point of the game. It's trying to make it more immersive by making you have to do a lot more of the tedious and grindy mechanics manually. Also...your early tools are going to break easily. Even with using the same building materials, you're third axe or spear is going to last much longer than your first one. The more you craft tools and the better you get with said tools, the longer they last.

Lol but it's not really a scary game because it's not a horror, there are just jumpscares from animals and tribesmen.. Maybe you can find teammates on Green Hell discord
