Interesting. The solo-grump videos show an Arin who is very personal and Candid whereas he's a bit more of a storyteller when it's both grumps. Inversely, the usually personal and open grump, becomes more of a storyteller when grumping alone. Perhaps a reflection of what each of them sees as an ideal grump performance?

I still remember how excited I was, back in the day, when my parents purchased SQ3 for me and my brothers (playing it on my parents' 286, which was state-of-the-art for its time, but is now a very old computer) :) after we enjoyed SQ 1 and 2. That opening animation of Roger Wilco climbing out of the escape pod was a thing of beauty. :) I also remember how irritated I was when I discovered that you need to get the ladder to continue the game; I mean yeah, "you jam the ladder into your pocket. Ouch!" is a good gag, but it's not something I would intuitively think I could pick up. I needed the hint book for that one. :P Also, there's an alternate way to get rid of the Terminator. There's a door on the side of the giant mechanical beast on top of the tourist trap which takes you inside the inner workings of the machine. If you lure the Terminator in there, you can knock him into the gears and he gets ground up and you can get the invisibility belt without the need of the orat-on-a-stick. Also, also, I seem to remember that if you put the Astro Chicken hat on before you leave the tourist trap, it sprouts wings and flies away the first time the Terminator grabs you. :D Also, also, also, I learned recently from watching Yahtzee's playthrough of this game that it's possible to win the game without ever visiting Monolith Burger (and not getting the secret message that tells you the two guys were kidnapped by Scumsoft) which would make for super confusing gameplay, since you would have no idea what you were doing or why. :P (And do you really only have to play Astro Chicken a certain number of times to get the secret message? O_o I thought you had to win it! I put so much friggin' effort into that game! Soooo much time wasted when I was a kid) :|

This is one of my favourite episodes of game grumps, because it helps me fall asleep. I have troubles sleeping at night, but listening to Dan's soft voice do what is essentially an ASMR Letsplay is really helpful for me. I'm serious, despite the fact that I've probably watched this video dozens and dozens of times I've rarely gone past the first 5-10 minutes before the combination of his voice alongside the 8 bit sound effects lulls me to sleep. It's fantastic.

With PC games back in the day, it was a requirement to read the manual or you'd have no idea WTF to do.

Trial and Error. And Space Quest 3 was one of the easier ones due to being able to do things out of order. It makes more sense if you actually follow the clues: - You're supposed to see the warp motivator - You're supposed to find the ship (by going to the right first instead of down) - You're supposed to discover that the warp motivator is missing and the reactor is missing - You're supposed to wander into the grinder area, jump to the rail, climb in the grabber and notice the button - You move the warp motivator and then then when you get out of the grabber you fall into the pit. - If you look around you'll notice the reactor in the hole, so now you have a reason to take it Likewise: - You're supposed to, in theory go to the Monolith burger first, spend the buckazoids if you found them in the seat. But most players just went to phleebutt, sold the orium for the first offer, killed the terminator at the tourist shop, and didn't realize there was another solution that involved the orat on a stick. Space Quest 1 (original) had the damn skimmer sequence and the slots-o-death(the VGA version lets you skip the skimmer and cheat the slots,) so the original SQ1 game is also the hardest game that you had to save-scum to get through.
