The even more impressive part of the graphics for these games is that they are not bitmaps, instead they are written in code where it basically does things like, draw line from one coord to another, then fill this area with a color. Once you know that they didn't open MSPAINT and just drew these, it is even more impressive the limitations they had. (they did this because of how much smaller it is to make the graphics this way)

@swordrush Жыл бұрын
Probably would have helped the film not flop if a bunch of different things didn't happen, like crazy editing and an environment the animators hated working in. Maybe most importantly though, it would have helped if they'd just stuck to the actual novel it's based on--which really isn't a very long book--or better yet, stuck to the plot of the book before that one, The Book of Three, which the movie stole elements from. Somehow somebody in charge decided to mix and combine elements of two different books, and completely butchered both.
@matthewbankey5547 Жыл бұрын
@@swordrush well, to be fair, Disney rarely does straight adaptations of the books and stories their movies are based on. Still, the behind-the-scenes stuff for The Black Cauldron sound like a real shitshow, but then again, the company was kind of adrift aft the passing of Walt Disney, and they wouldn’t fully get their groove back until The Little Mermaid and the Disney Renaissance.

Loved the episode. One thing though I’ve never understood that thing about “old games looked better because the screen was blurry” I’ve just heard that argument three times in the past week and it doesn’t make any sense to me. A slight blur never made it look any different, you could still see the pixels, imagination made them look better, and because the graphics didn’t take a team of sixteen people to animate one character the team spend their time on story and stuff to put in the background (side quests and whatnot) to make the world feel more full and real.

I love when they play these old Sierra games and I love when it's both boys. It feels like Dan getting to excitedly share his childhood with Arin.

Some Dan and his games vids sprinkled around every now and then would be pretty nifty

Arin makes these games so much more fun. Not saying it's not fun with only Dan, but they work so well with narrative stories. Love the voices they contribute.

So this is one of Dan's favorite games and he remembers the mirror can kill the Horned King but in Kings Quest, it was Ross who solved the mirror against death.

Love the rare appearances of the chill Dan centric games. Always a treat when Dans on the sticks. Love Arin too, but we get to see him play more often. Cheers guys. Thanks for all the laughs.
