Thing is, that "net worth" value is misleading. Much of that money is tied up in stocks and isn't liquid cash that can be spent unless he sold all those stocks. You see this a lot when "news outlets" like to announce that Bezos or Musk have "lost" millions -- they didn't lose any money, their stocks just went down, and often they didn't drop below the value they bought in originally in the first place.

One of my favorite Mountain Goats lyrics is "I wanna go home, but I am home" which is almost word for word what Arin said which I was surprised at. He meant it more literally I guess, with him actually being in his home while recording "work," while the lyric might be more figurative in a broader sense, feeling like you're not at peace or comfortable in your life even though you have everything you need. What I'm saying is Arin is a lyrical genius

For anyone who is curious about the scale of numbers like they were talking about, Tom scott did a great video called a million dollars vs a billion dollars visualized: a road trip. The idea being that most visualizations of large scales use 3 dimensions, which our brains are similarly bad at understanding, so instead he ties distance traveled to money and shows in real time the difference between walking to 1 million dollars at the scale he set, vs driving to 1 billion. It is the best visualization of the scale on youtube by far.

So after watching both matpat and arin play this, I feel like some of the difficulty in ludwig's stage is player-induced. Ludwig aims for you, the player. So, you should try to position yourself so that he shoots in ways that are easy to dodge. Very often, Arin tries to hang out in the middle to give himself more places to move to, but in so doing, he causes Ludwig to shoot in a direction that covers the maximum amount of the screen possible.

That comment about going to the concept of home... That shook me. I thought I was the only one. I have a way to express that feeling now. It is such a perpetual feeling in my life, and now I feel slightly less alone now that I can articulate that sensation.

I don't want anyone to get me wrong, this series inspired me to start making my own mario levels, and there are some really amazing ingenuity of the Mario Maker limitations on display in this whole world; but the sheer amount of levels where Ross's only gimmick is the level slowly scrolls for a lightyear is a bit ridiculous. It stopped being "I know Arin hates waiting, so I made a bunch of tests of patience" and became "this is a scene from a Hannah Barbara cartoon where it just cycles the background a dozen times"

Arin is the only KZbinr/streamer who has hit that first p switch in the p level. At least as of matpat beating it, because Ross said while reacting to Mat that no one had fallen for it yet, and I haven't seen anyone myself hit it since then either.
