It took some practice but thanks to you I now understand how to build pixel gaps wherever I want in any base. I recently built a pixel gapped 2x2 on a live server and was offline raided several times all the way to the TC. nobody found any of the good loot. Thank you for making RUST playable sir, the ability to hide loot from offline raiders is priceless.

GameLightz I always love the modability of all your videos your videos taught me more than all other youtubers together... and I watch quite a lot. Ive lived out of the wendigo and small wendigo many wipes and because of your videos that teach how to put widegaps anywhere I actually live out of my entirely own designed base now adays! I can't believe how little I get raided just because raiders don't recognise the base and know where TC is immediately... Most underrated rust youtuber on the platform!
@Millten0010 ай бұрын
That's what my friends can't understand. If you spread your loot you will never lose everything at once. It's the same with stocks - diversification is a key. I tried so many times to convince them but in the end, the last one online will gather and sort off everything we have next to TC to please offline raiders...
@skytrikz755810 ай бұрын
how do you spread it with this base design where the loot goes in the external tcs ?
@GameLightz10 ай бұрын
The way I play it is this: First of all, the main base will have a lot of bunkers also (the footprint makes that easy). Secondly, before going offline I'll recycle most of the stuff I have into easily stackable resources and put in TCs. GP / Explosives / Scrap / HQM / Metal. If I get raided, I can use the mats to rebuild, or use the scrap to buy mats at outpost and rebuild. The sulf/gp/explosives stack in TC so those are usually safe too. No profit for offliners. And if I'm lazy, there's a small box in each tc, that's behind 3 doors. I put stuff in there and nobody ever raids it. If you watch my bases (such as the "Throne", you'll see more of the techniques I use within the base core itself).

I played a wipe where I used this footprint (although I took the time to get the pixel gap wide enough to upgrade to armor) on a basic 2x2. I got offlined half a dozen times and always had the loot left to start over, because it turned my 2x2 into a 48 rocket raid.

When I did an HQM pixel gap, I had issues with getting the foundations to play nice (too close to another building) so I laid out 3 squares to start and did 1. High HQM, 2. Low foundation, and 3. Regular pixel gap height. I brought over the HQM height just for the TC and used the regular pixel gap for the other bunkers. Just a thought in case you have the same trouble I did with only the two levels.

It's how I've been building for many months now. It's really useful. You can also snake high foundations around the base, but it's annoying and prone to "too close to another wall" errors. Spreading them like this through the core is a lot safer, and makes building from there on a lot more convenient too.

I rarely add a comment to any video, however the idea behind this design is pure GENIUS as is GameLightz! I tried Rust pixel gaps in the past, but they were difficult to build and access, so use stability bunkers instead. I wandered how can jumping on a foundation make a difference and what does he mean by pixel gaps being griefed? Then watched his older videos where he answered both these questions and was truly amazed. Some other comments on here make good points. For example, I’m not sure hiding a TC works because most raiders will keep going until they find TC, but would be great for hidden loot rooms. As explained in the video you can stop them being griefed by reskinning the lower small wall to close the gap, however to a knowledgeable raider would make it obvious (will test if you can reskin the upper half wall to match). Also the locker needs a level 2 workbench before finishing the pixel gap, so not a quick build (might see if a shelves at 90 degree angle with locked large boxes could work instead). Just tested the design footprint technique on a build server, due to this clear video it was simple and worked first time. Really looking forward to the concept being included into a full base design. GameLightz THANK YOU for your brilliant work!
@GameLightz10 ай бұрын
Thank you! :) The main TC locker bunker is for day 1, maybe day 2. It extends the raid cost which in itself is a win. But of course, ultimately, you want to move bunkers around the base more. Watch my "Throne" base, or "The Grail V2", and you'll see what I mean :))

@GameLightz10 ай бұрын
The pixelgap is also 8 rockets (well, 7+ish but generally if counting a rocket raid..). From every direction it'll be either hqm direct, or 2 metal walls. The cheapest is the door path, but then 3 garage doors + 8 rockets, mostly equalizes.

Currently i am all about Space Engineers, where destruction is a lot more easy, but still some concepts do transcend games. Like spreading out defensiv layers, onion style, hiding certain defensiv mechanisms for surprise effects, positioning and angles and if not that, then it is still nice to follow these build guides as i enjoy some other rust youtubers and their struggle in the game and therefor being aware of some of their building tricks :) all in all a well made guide and appreciated and maybe one day i will even test them ingame hrhr

The pixel gap tc room and externals are cheeky ngl. And spreading your loot out across the entire build radius is 200iq. You can't get much more safe from raids, on or offline, as this. But if we're being honest, the entire pixel gap thing is broken. But apparently the devs disagree, as it's been a thing for a while so i suppose it's just meta.
@GameLightz10 ай бұрын
I don't think it's really that broken. It's the same as any other bunker type. It has its pluses and minuses, and even has a cost associated with closing/opening (80 frags) which other bunkers don't (like roof bunkers that only need a tiny bit of wood for a roof) etc.

Hey GameLightz, I’ve had no issues building this base till this update. I was able to access the pixel gap when it was stone but since I upgraded it to metal (not HQ) I haven’t been able to open my tc. I can still see a small “gap” between the half walls just can’t seem to get the prompt to allow me to open my tc or vending machine. I’ve been attempting this while crouching on top of a smart alarm which I previously found to be the easiest way of reaching the tc. I haven’t seen anything related to patching this in the patch notes but it feels like they’ve extended the metal half wall border without changing its rendering.

I’m currently living in an all hqm 2x2 with 6 detachable TC’s off the honeycomb, all of which are also HQM. Thanks to the magic of Facepunch, in the event of a raid, my loot automatically exits the 2x2 and moves to each of the externals, turning a 48 rocket raid into a 100 rocket raid to get all loot. Because offliners should have to pay a convenience tax.

Agreed. That's how I play personally. I move my loot in base when online. If someone onlines me, they fair play.

Wow, you finally went to using squares in a base again!

I had to a couple of wipes, had to make a base that's simple and cheap for a group where sometimes a lot of people come in, sometimes very few. It also had to be something that people have an easy time understanding how to navigate. So.. 2x2 :)

I really like the triangle-only bases but have been playing in a group and the squares just are so much easier to move around in with multiple people. So I do triangles for solo, squares for grouping.

Great video! One question though, would using your HQM gap method for the raised triangles brick anything, or is that still viable?
@GameLightz10 ай бұрын
It'll work the same, although I don't use HQM gaps because there's no way to prevent them from being exploitable (even if exploiting them is very, very difficult)

HI Gamelightz, when you refer to rockets to TC, is this through walls to TC or through door ways, to TC.
@GameLightz9 ай бұрын
The raid cost should be fairly well equalized but not absolutely so. Through walls, 15ish. Through doors, if they're all garage doors, about the same.
