First off, hearing about your cat's safe return was the purrfect way to start the video. Nothing worse than a missing feline friend! As for Arena... well, my enthusiasm is dwindling faster than a Goblin's life expectancy. Being a midrange player these days feels like bringing a knife to either a machine gun fight (dead by turn 3) or a philosophy debate (twenty minutes of "no" followed by death by a thousand Jace cuts). Five-minute matches? That's the sweet spot. Instead, we're either getting speed-dated by aggro or trapped in a control player's TED talk about why we shouldn't have nice things. But here's the thing - you're the last MTG content creator standing in my KZbin feed. Whether you're ranting about the meta, updating us on your cat's latest adventures, or just chatting about life, you make even the grindiest matches entertaining. Your channel is like that rare balanced meta we all dream about - consistently fun regardless of what's being played. Even if Arena and I eventually "consciously uncouple," I'll still be here for the CGB content. Keep being you - there's a whole army of us out here who appreciate your style more than a blue player loves saying "resolves... not!

I've thought about going over to BO3. I have never even tried it. I guess it's partly because of me not knowing how to sideboard, and also just thinking it will take too much time. Perhaps, I will gravitate over there, and chill out. Seems like because of the time already invested, you are eliminating a lot of rope-babies. I've played a lot of Dragonball Legends, whilst playing Arena - Let's just put it that way, lol. Which is quite ridiculous, to have to have a game to play while you are waiting to play the one you already have running.
@nulshift2 ай бұрын
@@VerninTheRat Yeah likewise, I could never figure out how to brew a good sideboard. Sure I could just look up a deck and copy it and it's sideboard, but half the fun of magic is making a deck. As for the rope babies, they mostly don't exist in bo3 because it'll be a guaranteed loss for them, as you have a turn timer in bo3 formats. And the amount of time you have left does not reset on game 2 and 3. Rope grief on game 1 and you won't have enough time to play in game 2 or 3. If they're the type that don't care if they lose from roping though, they'll still do it. (Usually the kind that just loses from roping out rather than this opponent where they were never actually finishing their rope)
@yavivanov66502 ай бұрын
Guys, it's easy to sideboard. Just get to know the meta, and include cards which are silver bullets to the strategy of the most popular decks. Go from there and you'll soon start to adjust your sb according to personal experience and card choices
@kyuuno2 ай бұрын
@@yavivanov6650 yo it’s not easy. It’s injected in older players (like myself) because it’s just what it is, but it is another skill to learn. And requires decent understanding of the meta, and a little bit of prediction too. It’s a step for someone that’s started on bo1

I'm a control player and stopped stopped standard for the first time in a couple years just because the meta is so unbalanced. My best friend is a monorad player and I was shocked to find out that he also quit because he also found the entire format way too fast. I think wizards of the Coast doesn't truly understand what the players want. Because all that they get is a smiling face or fronting face. I think the interpreted it that when they are faster games that you win, people are happier. But reality is most of us don't realize what we truly want. We hate losing grindy matches but those are also the games that we love the most. When I play Commander with my friends sure it's it's a ton of fun if I win a game in 15 minutes, but nobody else has fun because they can't participate. I would much rather enjoy an hour-long game where everybody has a chance to show off their deck. I feel like the same thing is with standard. Worst of all is how they treated brawl. The new commanders have made it where where you can no longer play a commander. That's more than four mana because cuz you're just too behind. I'm bored to this New powercrept 1 and 2 mana commanders. Either way I always love hearing your thoughts on standard. It keeps me from going insane especially because brawl's now in a bad place.
@sawyermifsud8522 ай бұрын

Extended generally had 22 sets give or take. The new standard is going to have 21 or so sets, except rotating more often, but less escape valves if something degenerate comes by.

1) I feel you on missing pets. I've got two that have been missing for over two years, and one of my current ones likes to (attempt to) escape; so far he's come back on his own within a day, but I still worry when he gets out. 2) People that rope just to try and get you to scoop suck. Do something, or pass. 3) I like the Brawl stuff, since that's really all I play on MTGA.

What I learned from this video: If there's a day or three where CGB doesn't release a video during his busy month, it's because he doesn't love us anymore. :P Still hyped for everything that's coming, and glad to see a kitty in a loving home, so there's that.

I will say, despite the unfortunate stuff so far into the video, I still appreciate and enjoy hearing you ramble about the game, life, anything (altho I will admit I am a deck talk enjoyer, I know youtube hates me and beats you up financially and algorithmic-ally if you try to give me what I want)

The fact that player was able to use the rope that much is insane

This is why I never only play MTG Arena. I always have something else going on the second screen so they can rope all day long if they want

This is the kind of game I giggle about when people say “I don’t have time for best of 3”

If you are getting tired of these ropes. The life stories/updates are great. They make the video more exciting to watch, and it's good to hear what's hapoening. Thanks for all the great content CGB.

First.. I'm glad you were able to lure the kitten back with a nice sacrifice of numnums to their liking and second.. I rarely play arena now a days but never miss a video by you your mixture of game play knowledge desire to inflict pain on your opponents through the constricting usage of value and control while still being a grounded human being with empathy for your fellow man is refreshing and I will continue to support you and partake in your brand of entertainment daily, and lastly ..YOU'RE cool.

CGB I stick around and listen to the "ranting" lol. We're all human. Just appreciate the fact that you keep putting out videos. Also just watched your Halloween commander video. Was super entertaining.

29:30 - honestly - I really enjoyed it. I watched it like it was a Podcast whilst cleaning the kitchen. Could've gone longer😅
