Love the F6F. I hang at the 3.3 to 3.7 tier. My favorite tanks. I can run some CAS on a good day and wreck some stuff

I already knew the F6F Hellcat was tops. During the actual war, it had a kill ratio unmatched by any other aircraft. "Sorry" (not) for the fans of the Corsair, Mustang, Lightning, Zero, Spitfire, etc. The Hellcat outperformed ALL of them. It was a Beast! (Btw, my fave was the P40. Good plane. Others were better.)

@@georges.patton4241 No doubt! I love the Thunderbolt too! 8 .50 cals, how can you not love that?!😁 I love ALL those WW2 fighters! Lightning, Corsair, Mustang, Wildcat, etc. But none of them had the kill ratio of the Hellcat!

Imagine taking *claimed* air victories as fact 😂 On a serious note, the F6F was a great plane, but it's very good air combat record (even if the 19 to 1 kill record is very unlikely) was kind of a case of being in the right place and time.

@@miquelescribanoivars5049 By the time the Hellcat was in action, so were gun cameras; to learn what was done right and/or wrong in action. Cameras do not lie, exaggerate, etc. So don't be so quick to dismiss numbers you think are too high. They didn't come to that lightly! If anything, they were quick to downplay combat claims... When the American submarine Archerfish sank the Japanese Aircraft Carrier Shinano, they weren't believed. Instead they were credited with sinking a large freighter. After the war, while going through Japanese records, they found Archerfish's account to be true! Only then was she given credit for sinking Shinano.

@@smc1942 Gun cameras aren't 100% reliable, you could have occasional malfunctions, or recordings performed in suboptimal visibility conditions. They were also instances when an aircraft which could be clearly seen being hit (and therefore actually credited as a kill) would manage to be nursed back as a pilot. There's also the fact that if multiple aircraft were involved on the shotdown of a single aircraft they might be credited as different kills. This is discussed extensively in literature about WW2 and the Korean War. Comparing the Shinano case is a bad example, the reason why it happened is because the US literally *didn't know* about the existence of the ship. And also since you mentioned Japanese records, its a double edge sword for your argument, sometimes they are pretty close to US claims (like in the Battle of the Philippines Sea), and other times they are way off, for instance the IJN and IJAAF lost around 1,500 planes over Okinawa. Between AA batteries and pilots the US claimed over 7,000 shotdown, the Japanese *wished* they could allocated that many aircraft in the defense of Okinawa.

great flying,but from a theoretical standpoint,you're not playing it to its strengths: 1-NEVER go vertical,specially so if upwards:granted,this plane has a superb horizantal energy retention, but the _vertical_ energy retention is honestly terrible (specially so in the _very_ likely event it takes a few knocks - if you see a plane pulling upwards for a loop is because they know it: resist the temptation,turn away and prepare for another pass 2-It Is InCrEdIbLy ImPoRtAnT tO uSe MaNuAl EnGiNe CoNtRoLs WhIlSt PiLoTiNg ThE Hellcat In ReAlIsTiC oR sImUlAtOr BaTtLeS. tHe HeLlCaT hAs AcCeSs To ThReE sUpErChArGeR gEaRs, EaCh TaIlOrEd FoR a DiFfErEnT aLtItUdE, aNd EaCh WiLl GrEaTlY iMpRoVe YoUr PeRfOrMaNcE aT tHeIr ApPrOpIaTe AlTiTuDeS set prop pitch to 90%,radiators to 40% and the supercharger gear depends: 1 until 1000 meters,2 until 4000~4500 and 3 since then,remember to shift it back and forth 3-avoid head-ons:the radial engine has a massive hitbox and if you lose power you're screwed: fake one with a burst from far away and extend away horizontally with a gentle (~2°) climb and prepare for another pass (don't worry,this thing is crazy fast,no way in hell they catch you),if your prey turns to chase you it's gonna lose energy and if they didn't your next pass will probably be less risky - repeat until they have lost enough energy and chew them out when they can no longer dodge you bonus: CLIMB,ICARUS,CLIMB axis planes climb extremely well but their pilots are kinda retarded: *that's* where the money is,friendo

@nooriginalusername8052 Жыл бұрын
I mean the zeroes weren't fast they were made to dogfight at slow speeds the sole reason why the hellcat dominated the pacific was because of better engines and the boom and zoom tactics
