That match you were unlucky. 2 fire gone out thats unusual for japanese planes and that beginning was really close, that could ended really bad. F6F-5 is hard to play especially alone, bad team and axis have always the initial advantage. Sideclimb and team is almost gone. I think thats why some people put bombs on because they just give up sideclimbing against axis to get atleast some points. merry christmas to you and happy flying. Ever since seeing your hammerhead video, I've had much more success doing the maneuver, which has become my main tactic for the Lightning and Mustang. I have been taking notes from your previous vids and using them to my advantage, such as when an A7M tried to zoom climb for my P-38L-5-LO; he stalls out, I loop over, and his drained energy means he can't dodge the ensuing headon. Great vid on the Hellcat, "the ace maker" of the Pacific theater. This just means more notes for future battles to come! (I actually prefer the normal Hellcat to the N version, due to the former's already poor climb being further reduced by the latter's radar and cannons)

The most paintful japanese fighter to fight with the F6F is the A7M.

@Infinity The thing is, the Germans used the same airframes for the whole war and produced many many variants of those airframes; so one version could be obsolete while another version could be very competitive. Bf 109 G-6, for example, is mostly inferior to the P-51D, but the K-4 has a better climb rate, power-to-weight ratio and acceleration. Fw 190 A is also mostly inferior, but the Ds have the same advantages as the K-4 does over the Mustang. So it's pretty hard to compare a Bf 109 or Fw 190 to other Allied fighters since there are so many differences between variants. But German fighters do have advantages that an experienced pilot can make use of. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use those advantages 😂

I think that the F6F is alright at it's current BR. But imagine flying the F6F-N (worse performance but has radar and two of the M2s are swapped for cannon)in a full uptier at 5.3.

A P-47 with tracer rounds is like a flying flamethrower, you can spray as long as you want and the enemy catches fire by time he is hit.

The flaps on this plane is an ABSOLUTE CHAD of a flap, I just had a spitfire mk 9 go for me with atleast 1km of altitude advantage, I went defensive and made him overshoot, most spitfire users are cocky so after an overshoot most usually turn really hard losing their energy advantage, he turned, lost a crapton of speed and it was a 300-350 kmh dogfight, I pop the flaps down on the f6f and it was absolutely head to head in terms of turning with the spitfire, I got a lead on him 4 times vs his which was just 1 in a rolling scissor

I have it displayed on a second monitor and edit it in. There are ways to overlay stuff over games, you need to play in windowed mode and use a program to overlay part of your browser over the game. Alternatively, check out "Void Mei" on the WT forums, that's the easy way.

One thing I love about the F6F-5 its its surprisingly good turn performance. It should only be used when absolutely necessary, but itll surprise german pilots becuase though it wont outroll them, the F6F will outturn every 109 and 190 it faces except the 109Es. Its a great last defense to have in your back pocket.

Despite your win, this match reminds me why I stopped playing a few months ago. Ineffective 50s (or hisparkos), allied teams that die a lot (probably due to the aforementioned guns) and if it wasn't the prop balance it was F-89 rocket planes everywhere or Mig-21s with OP missiles.

Allied teams lose because they have more useless planes (bombers, ground pounders). There are BRs that are fair.

@@AdamTheEnginerd That is not always the case or even most of the time the case since the Ju288 exists. Even on matches where fighter numbers are comparable they still have to work harder for wins and I do not buy the crap about axis players being better fliers. I watched a subsequent video of yours to this one and there was a P-47M that came to help you and he was absolutely spraying down an enemy before finally getting a kill. You mentioned he had tunnel vision. An enemy came in and took him out with a quick burst while he was busy fire hosing the axis plane with 50 cal rounds. I think that is a very accurate snapshot of the effectiveness of the guns between axis and allies props and I think has a direct correlation on allied win rates (and enjoyment).

Also I will have to take your word for the misses since I can't see the replay but it didn't look like he was that far off in your video and combined with how much lead he threw downrange he had to have been hitting some of the time. You also had a game in the I think F6F (fiddycals) vid where you were critting Japanese planes like crazy and had to duck, dodge dive dip and duck all match until their engines finally gave out from the various crits and leaks caused while they were still combat effective for a very long time after being shot.

I have a question for you...I noticed that the F6F was designed differently than any other single engine WW2 fighter I have read about..."The tilt of the engine was matched with a zero-incidence wing setting, which meant that at take-off or in cruising flight the engine was horizontal while the rest of the aircraft was tail-down. At full power the fuselage became horizontal for minimum drag." Can you educate, I can only picture a speed boat planing out, but that seems somewhat not right to me. Thanks you...

Uh that doesn't look like it was the case for the F6F, it likely did have wing incidence. Anyway, the purpose was to have the fuselage be parallel to the airflow to minimize drag while the wing has enough angle of attack to produce the required lift in level flight.

this is one plane i really struggled to fly for both the americans and the french towards the end i got better but my kill to death ratio in this model in particular is atrocious not so bad in the cannon cat but the normal F6F yea i need to take it out again now that i am a much better pilot

Aftet I seen this video i decided to go back to the Hellcat after ditching it bc i didnt know how to use it. I hopped in a match.. 4 kills, 5k research, 18k SL and a team without useless players. I had a great match, i learn so much from adam's videos lol, he isnt a war thunder teacher, he is *the war thunder teacher*

I think a better option is J21 A-1. It has literally the same flight model (all prop J21s/A21s have the same FM file) and it has better 20mm cannon (25 rounds minute more) with the same ammo. Also it's at 3.0.

@@AdamTheEnginerd D.520 is a totally underrated beast in the French tree. It sits at 2.7, and it used to suck. Poor climb, poor thermals, awful MER and decent-at-best handling......and THEN it got some "wing polar adjustments", but in reality it became a totally new plane. It'll best 109s in a turnfight with smart flaps usage, including the F-1 and F-2, and can nearly match them in the vertical, able to hang with them long enough. It'll absolutely dunk on most Italians as well, absolutely shitting on the C.202s and holding its own with the C.205. The only things you need fear in a dogfight are the Reggianes and Japanese aircraft. It's also no slouch when it comes to speed and climbrate, being respectable for both. It packs a Hispano 20mm through the prop, and 4 7.5mm French buzzsaws in the wings. If you set convergence to 300-400m and wait for good firing opportunities, you'll pick up frags left and right. (The cannon in particular, being a Hispano Mk I with only 60 rds, really benefits from high trigger patience) Additionally, you can set rads to anywhere from 7-12% and barely hit amber temperatures, even on warmer maps. Not many people know it exists, and those who do tend to remember the old flight model, which barely holds a candle to the current one. It's also tier III at 2.7BR, which makes it great for events, though it seems the swedes have it beat there now :P

Had to be the new french plane in the 40s, but the war armnistice. there is a lot of version: D520 Z, 521, 550, 550 EC 1, 520 modified with modified engine, D520 interceptor, D520 AM... and in the game the D520 is the first version, with the not modified engine...

I'm still convinced that the F6F is missing performance somewhere, though I'm not sure where exactly. Some of the the testing documents I've found suggest that our in-game F6F-5 isn't even climbing as well as the F6F-3 did irl, and all Hellcats were noted as being able to match a Zero's rate of climb (being slightly worse below 10k ft, and then getting slightly better above 10k ft). As things currently stand, I think that the Hellcats and all the F4U-1 variants need an airspawn (and perhaps a subsequent BR adjustment).

Need to be careful about the documentation. Perhaps in a 300km/h climb, F6F has the advantage. But, if both planes climb at optimal speeds (~240 for A6M, ~270 for F6F), A6M should climb better. Perhaps if you compare the F6F to a very early Zero you might find that they are similar in climb. Some F4Us are severely undertiered, like F4U1A at 2.7.

It says F6F has a fairly low climb rate, around 3000ft/min maximum. A6Ms will do better than that.

It's called the "local host". How to access the "local host": You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work! Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT: -Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila. Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT): -Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
