Can Gamera actually work in the Monsterverse along with Godzilla and Kong? Here we go over the case for Gamera as to how he can be worked into the Monsterverse including origins and legal logistics. Godzilla and King Kong are the Only 2 Cinema Icons of all time. 95% of people don't even know who Gamera is. He is a b flic Titan. Kong is an International Icon. Same with Godzilla. The greatest Monsterverse matchup by far is the reason the universe came to be. It's Godzilla vs King Kong. I like Gamera. He is a Godzilla knockoff. Toho has NO desire to get Gamera in a movie with Godzilla.

@@tedunseth3966 Toho entertained the idea once before but ultimately balked because the studio which owned the rights to Gamera refused to let their character lose to Godzilla. As Methu pointed out in this video, what would they care now given Gamera is no longer an active property in film, especially if they stood to have an excellent payday and extreme publicity if he appeared in the Monsterverse, theoretically? If it were done properly from the storyline & CGI perspectives, they could knock it out of the park (and box office). Like I said, everyone knows Kong is an American (and international) icon, but any longstanding Kaiju fan knew Kong wasn’t actually a strong match one on one with Godzilla... even after they threw him a bone and gave him a radiation absorbing axe. Don’t get me wrong, GvK is easily my favorite of all G films ever produced, and I dug the way they allowed Kong a path to redeem himself in the end of the film, but he was always going to lose the one on one with Godzilla. Gamera though has never been explored but there are countless fans that believe he’s the top contender against Godzilla that never got his shot at the champ, even if he was originally created as a knockoff.

@@frightlights6399 It's not Kong's fault he was stuck in remake hell. GvK was the ONE movie where nobody knew who would win. I know Godzilla has been powered up so many times since the 62 classic. In GvK, this was the most powerful version of Godzilla outside of Anime. Kong draws the casual fan. GvK exploded because it's been the most debated film in Godzilla history. A movie Godzilla fans wanted a win so bad. If you really think of Kong, you start to see many ways he could win. That scared the hardcore fans behind the scenes. Could you imagine if they had Kong win? Kong got the respect he deserved from the kaiju fans and Godzilla the win. As a kaiju fan I'm down. I know Godzilla is going to win. I always thought Toho hates Gamera. I do think Gamera would be cheap to get. It's another Japan Kaiju. This film should be done by Toho in Japan. I don't know why people think Gamera would be the top contender for the crown. I always thought King Kong had that. I can't believe they didn't want Gamera to lose to Godzilla. That is crazy. I have watched Kaiju films for over 40 years and outside of the 90's triology, Gamera never had a good film. I will go back and visit Gamera films. Could Gamera vs Godzilla sell? GvK is like the Avengers of this universe and the 2 stars.

That one, like you said, had five decades worth of fan base frothing at their mouths wishing for a re(make)match ever since 1962. Plus, who doesn’t love the big, emotive monkey? Still though, if a monkey can go toe to toe with Godzilla and audiences loved it, why couldn’t a gigantic flying, fireball spitting, saber-toothed turtle give it go? I like turtles. 😂

I don't think they would do it as an International VS movie like GvK. I'm thinking make Gamera vs Godzilla in Japan like Shin. It seems to be more of a region thing. Unless they can gamble and try a Gamera film. Gamera has to be an alien monster. Make it where it's a battle of the universe I guess. I would like to see kong take on another major Kaiju. Kong vs Cloverfield. Godzilla vs Gamera. I'm going to watch some Gamera fights and get back to you.

How I imagine Gamera in the Monsterverse He's based in the Atlantic ocean with the atlantians. I'll say set the movie in the past rather than in the present because a sequel could be set in the present day Monsterverse. I'll say team of adventures who aren't apart of monarch or a one of them could be but that'll mess up continuity. Gamera will essentially be sort of a little brother to Godzilla as he's always trying to prove himself to be something by fighting him a few times making the rivalry be a squabble between siblings. As for the villains, of course Gyaos and they could be a parasitic subspecies of Rodan being more violent and destructive. Essentially make them like the mutos but slightly more annoying and deadlier and bring in I guess Gyaos prime which is the big boss to I'll say to at least three smaller gyaos. Their fight would be in the ancient city of Atlantis and hint at Godzilla and Gamera's history together. As for a Godzilla vs Gamera movie, have be essentially a little brother trying to prove himself by fighting Godzilla. No team up. Just both titans fighting. If Gamera wins, he gets Godzilla's respect but if he loses he goes back to Atlantis. But by the end of it, Godzilla respects Gamera for giving him a good fight and seeing how much his so called little brother grew and gives Gamera that respect thus allowing Gamera to wander the earth to protect it and allowing Godzilla to rest. As for the true sequel to Gamera, bring in Iris who'll be an Alien and lands on Earth and make Gamera have that telepathic talk with Godzilla letting him know he'll handle it and he does by the end and roars loudly letting Godzilla know he won. As for a post credit scene, since aliens are a thing in this universe, hint at either gigan or organ coming to earth. If not that, see what Kong's doing.

I was actually thinking more towards gamera being a species created by the atlanteons to fight and take over the Godzilla species but ultimately fail. Leaving one gamera egg left, when he wakes up, he fights a few kaiju and wins. Godzilla sees and instead of murdering the kid in cold blood, he becomes his mentor and teaches him the way of the force, I mean king.

Monsterverse Gamera pitch: There is another idea for Gamera to be in the Monsterverse, a lost civilization that is similar to Godzilla’s temple civilization but this Civilization devotes to Gamera as another God or Alpha Titan that has been forgotten in history. This lost civilization will be forgotten because of the lack of remains of records or the whole city/temple was destroyed in Ancient times by a unknown force. Monarch in the present day, finds rare articles of ancient tablets in the hollow earth describing the legend of Gamera and the lost civilization as a third kingdom in the middle of Godzilla and Kong before the Titan war started. Gamera has been in hibernation for billions of years, waiting for his time to return.

If Gamera was a part of the Monsterverse that would be great as it also opens up the possibility of monsters like Gyaos, Barugon, Guiron, Legion, Irys and many others. Now how would Gamera work ? Well my thoughts are that he could be an ancient alpha titan rivalling the strength of Godzilla and Kong. All three monsters prevent the Earth from being overrun by a vast majority of threats. Godzilla keeps the M.U.T.Os in track, Kong, the Skullcrawlers, but as for Gamera, he is responsible for keeping the Gyaos population in track. In a way the three different types of titans form a trinity. Gyaos are terrifying creatures and just like the Skullcrawlers, they have to constantly feed, even cannibalizing their young in some cases. If the Earth was overrun by the Gyaos, they would kill and eat everything, including themselves. Sometimes this vicious creatures would sever off their own foot and eat it. Gyaos would have the same regenerative powers of King Ghidorah, however once the head is gone, the Gyaos will die. Gyaos would spawn really fast and the young are capable of flight at the moment they've hatched. Gyaos are capable of growing just as large as Gamera, who is only slightly shorter than Godzilla. Gamera would be found in the lost city of Atlantis where he lays dormant, until the Gyaos are reawakened from a entrance to the Hollow Earth from the caves of Southeast Asia.

I would love to see Gamera in the Monsterverse in the future. In fact, I have an idea for that: Titanus Gamera (Gamera). Nature: Bio-Thermal. Another ancient apex predator superspecies or alpha titan species, just like Godzilla, King Kong and Mothra, with the same purpose to protect the balance of nature, with his own abilities: Great physical strength, very extremely resilient and strong shell; nearly to invulnerability, cellular tissue's density very high, durability, radiation, fire and heat absorption, plasma fire breath, plasma fireballs, flight by bio-nuclear reactors from shell, sharp spikes protruding from his elbows, large sharp tusks from his lower jaw, healing, intelligence, weak to cold. Also, if you think it well, King Kong is neither a Toho monster, and the Monsterverse belongs to Legendary. So I do not see any problem of Gamera joining the Monsterverse. And opening the doors to Godzilla vs Gamera. If there is somewhere that would be the perfect place for the 2 of them to meet and fight each other for the very first time, that is the Monsterverse.

Another way they could introduce Gamera (if it happens) would be to make him an alien because even though Gamera was made by the atlanteans, something tells me Godzilla would not have been happy about a biological manmade Titan, so it would make sense to make Gamera an alien and they could make Gamera be a keeper of balance like Godzilla except in space, and that would make sense since one of Gamera's Titles is "Guardian of the universe"

I think an interesting idea is to keep Gamera an alien. Maybe Gamera was the King on his original planet, which Ghidorah would try to conquer on his way to Earth millions of years ago. Gamera being the same kind of titan as Godzilla, but alien, he expels Ghidorah, and Ghidorah leaves for Earth. Maybe in the present, his planet is destroyed by his franchise's big bad, leading him to have no choice but to fly to Earth, and take up residence there.

Gamera should be hidden somewhere within the Hollow Earth. We haven't even begun to explore that area and the ancient civilization that created Gamera could easily be one of the early civilizations that helped build the temples for the monsters (Godzilla's home in KOTM) and as a war between Godzilla's species and Kong's species was spilling over, this civilization created Gamera as a defender. Godzilla drilling a hole straight to the Hollow Earth and destroying Kong's temple could be the catalyst to waking Gamera, which would presumably sending him in search of who was responsible. He could interact with Kong first in the Hollow Earth then tease a matchup against Godzilla in a future film. There's no need to rush anything, as Gamera could become another pillar of the monsterverse in his own right.

I did have an idea of this in the past and tried to make a fan made WattPad story of it. Plot went like this: 85 million years ago Gamera was a threat to Godzilla and after he rested for that long Gamera awakes in an all new world. Breaking out of another mysterious island Gamera wreaks havoc to save humanity from another threat as Godzilla thinks it’s the total opposite they battle out not only saving but endangering humanity as well. That’s all I had it got cancelled after Kong vs Godzilla aired as it was to similar.

I am down, with Gamera joining the MONSTERVERSE!!! At one point, it was rumored that Toho, did own the rights to Gamera, during the late 80s/early 90s, when Daiei went bankrupt and Japan was buying up everything in the U. S.!!! Especially, because the Japanese once bought and owned the former Sears Tower, in Chicago!!! However, Gamera against Godzilla would be a big draw, in a movie the same way that GVK, had shown everyone!!! Especially, with the latest technology in movies today!!! And, reading some of the good ideas that almost everyone has given in the comments section, it could happen!!! But, Toho needs to grow up and become open to new ideas in order to survive outside of Japan and give Godzilla a new platform!!! There Godzilla movies, have been lacking a great deal in recent years by doing the same thing over and over again!!! Except for Shin Godzilla in which I truly enjoyed but in a different universe scenario and they should have Godzilla Junior too the next level after Godzilla vs. Destroyah but they changed Godzilla's history with the Millennia series!!! So, they need to let this happen, especially because they appear to be running out of ideas or are afraid to take a chance with Godzilla doing other things outside of Japan!!!

If Legendary does add Gamera in the Monsterverse he should have his own, perhaps we see Monarch in Japan finding ancient cave paintings of Gamera fighting Gayos (which could be an enemy species like the Muto or Skullcrawlers) and as they look through the ancient ruins a Gayos breaks free and starts searching for radioactive material then Gamera comes out to fight Gayos

I'm a Gamera fan. No one knows exactly the number or what monsters monarch has. So they can introduce him that way. They can also wake him up some way and then have to find a way to stop him. In comes Godzilla. But being like Kong they could face each other then team up to fight 1 or more of Gozilla's enemies.

I'd personally have a 4th option. I think Gamera should, in a slightly funny reversal, look incredibly frightening, but that's just me. In terms of storyline, Gamera comes across as kind of a dick initially, going around beating other Titans back into dormancy, but his motivations are slowly revealed to be completely understandable and rather heroic. SPOILER There's a whole Brethren Moons scenario, as Titans are occasionally harvested by invading aliens for purposes unknown. Enter Gigan and our Destroy All Monsters setup. Ancient atlantiens story,, who built gamera to destroy their first creation gaos , gaos invades godzillas territory, gozilla answers the call but gamera wants dibs and he shows up also, all three go at each other till both the gman and gamera tear the gaos apart , they look at each other and gamera flies away but ,,,, a much bigger threat is just waiting in the horizon, either a queen gaos or destroyah , you pick and there will be a team up by the g man and gamera no matter who's the enemy .

I like your idea about Gamera being from space. How about this? Make Gamera be a cameo in the next two Godzilla and Kong films, then have the next crossover be a Destroy all Monster (endgame) movie. Where Destroyah is the big bad, and somehow Destroyah is so powerful, it's power is sense all through space. Even making Ghidorah race kneel to him. Then have Gamera arrive, all three monsters fight it out, until a team up happens when Destroyah arrives. I don't know...I just saw this pic of destroyah being like thanos, and all three titans (including ultraman for some reason) teamed up to fight it.

I think that it would be better a "Gamera and Godzilla" movie than a "Gamera vs Godzilla" movie... these kind of "versus" crossovers to me are kinda lame, cause they always fall in the trap that is to please a fanbase and screw the other, and these kind of versus plots are hard to break the mold of "we must make them fight and then become friends in the end so no one feels SO bad". Besides, I think Godzilla is a bit out of league in relation to other kaiju in a sense that is hard to picture him losing to anyone outside of his own enemy galery... and I think the kaiju genre would lose some variety with Gamera becoming part of the MonsterVerse. To be honest, what I think is that there SHOULD be a Gamera movie, but in a separate universe, so that we could see some new ideas from the start. It's like the idea to bring Clover or the Kaiju and Jaeggers from Pacific Rim to the MonsterVerse... it would kill the variety of ideas that the creators of the movies would have if they had to consider a lot of stuff that happens in other movies without contradicting themselves. I don't know... this just don't sit well with me.

Ok I have a problem with the huge disrespect to gamera from the beginning to 3:45 mark, first off why would the company of Gamera give legendary the rights just to have him lose and be a laughingstock amongst the Kaiju community. Ur just recreating the scene from Godzilla final Wars where kids throws the turtle Into the Fire calling him a loser. Second gamera could win a fight against Godzilla don't be that fan that thinks Godzilla can beat every monster u put infort of him. Let’s say Toho don’t extend the rights back to Legendary for godzilla(I think they will), then I think it’s a no brainer for kadokawa to have gamera in a big Hollywood movie like a crossover with Kong or something. Now let’s say Godzilla is still in the MV, then that doesn’t necessarily mean Gamera and Godzilla have to fight, which I think would help a lot of things, and rather Gamera can be used as an ally. But who knows, the chances aren’t very large but I mean anything at this point can happen

It would be awesome to see Gamera in the Monsterverse! I really like the Bioweapon idea. Though it would wind up feeling very similar to Godzilla vs Kong in that aspect that Gamera would likely be on the defense and backed up by humanity against a ticked off Godzilla who is after a survivor from an unnatural species that his kind wiped out when humanity overstepped and created their own titans in the past. Like obviously the details would be different but it would still very much be a retread of Godzilla's mad that something he doesn't like exists and tries to kill it while said thing Godzilla doesn't like is just trying to exist. Now they could flip it on its head a bit if they have Gamera being more proactive than Kong. Say the Gamera individual that is in the film was actually there in the ancient past and remembers Godzilla and his orders to protect humanity from all titan threats. Then we could have them both out for blood on eachother while Gamera is also potentially going around and taking out other titans because he just assumes they are a threat to humanity. Give us a darker and more brutal Gamera like in the trilogy, though the showa films were pretty brutal too. Then instead of a teamup of a two on one foe maybe have them face off a swarm of Gyaos (who could also be failed bioweapons from the past) being lead by a totally new bioengineered monster like Irys. Thats the way I'd go with it at least.
