One of my gripes is when the accuracy of the AI is not affected by soft visual obstructions. The AI is going to be tracking and firing at you just as accurately no matter what. It does not matter whether you are standing in a flat, open, sunny, bright desert; or if you are standing in a deep, dimly lit forest at dusk with thick mist and hiding behind some tall grass. This is why I prefer to fight during bright and sunny days if the game gives me the option, because things like foliage, glare, darkness, mist etc doesn't affect the AI's accuracy or tracking, yet it can massively impede a human's tracking and accuracy.

My single biggest pet peeve with a games gameplay is when it "makes" you lose, not as part of some story event, but because the enemy has an "instantly win the fight" button they just don't push most of the time. Like, I've been replaying Skyrim on legendary difficulty lately, and the way the dragons will just EXECUTE you from full health with their bite attack, locking you in place and disabling your controls to do so. It actually frustrates me more feeling like the enemy could instantly win at any point and the only reason I have a chance is they are choosing not to. This has been my weird little rant, thank you.

@JimmyCrackorn3 жыл бұрын
Ah, the old okie doke they've been using on us for 30 years. It's broken my spirit, yet still I play. It was even worse in the old beat 'em up games. Some were so aggressive with it that they attached adds to your controls in such a way as to make you attack yourself. In Super Double Dragon, the enemies didn't follow you after they set up a pincer, which was every fight, you literally controlled them too, so that they couldn't break formation. And if you hit an attack button during that, they would attack at the exact same time. So, if you punched one, the one behind you always punched you because it was connected to your attack buttons the whole time, not the one in front of you. If you blocked the one in front of you, your block connected to the one behind you, so it attacked at the exact same time you pressed the block button. You had to memorize the sequence and beat them all *before* they got the pincer formed. If you didn't, the game was impossible to beat until you finally memorized it. The level of rage is indescribable. (I used present tense because I played it recently on an emulator. Damn near ripped my computer in half)

I wish more games handle AI and walls like Ghost of Tsushima does. Found myself getting spotted and chased a lot early on, but if you break their line of sight and hide, they don't know where you went. I use that to my advange a lot to make them group up where I can assassinate multiple target, run away and do it again. It's one of the annoyances of Breath of The Wild that if you stun or knock down an enemy and run off to hide, they still know where you are until you play ring around the rosie long enough for them to time out chase mode. And then there are lynels which there is no hiding from them once they see you.

Another dirty trick WAW deployed aside from grenade spam was infinitely spawning enemies until you close the distance, which on veteran was a bitch especially the attack on the reichstag, you can't thin the ranks then advance, you have to run to stupidly close distances to the enemies under pin point accurate gun fire and the grenades, your AI allies are useless, pray you don't get shot while sprinting, clear your immediate vicinity hopefully there was a checkpoint, if not good luck, rinse and repeat.

Under 'incorrect information', you forgot the particularly egregious X-COM. The game keeps track of how well you're doing in a mission, and then applies a multiplier to the stated hit chance. If you're doing well, it'll decrease you hit chance, and if you're doing poorly, it'll increase your crit chance to increase the likelihood of a 'clutch' shot. Half of you suddenly shouted either 'you don't understand statistics' or just 'get gud', but the other half recall that the devs *actually stated this is happening* and that the displayed hit chance is NOT the actual hit chance. Doing this makes the game less of a strategy game and more of a narrative, and I get that some people want that. I don't. The only time Ai cheating kinda works is in steallaris where you can set the game to where the Ai gets a passive bonus on resources slowly over the course of the game. This only works because the Ai is so inefficient with its resources otherwise (for example a pacifist Empire will value fleet production over resource gathering 9 times out of 10 and that odd 1 time would be during a war when it should be mass producing fleets)

I had horsemen and pikemen take my city before I even researched archery. Their army was at least 5 strong. If you can get past that unfairness, the fact that AI never changes on any difficulty setting is dumb. At least in Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes it says that on the harder difficulty "the AI is using its best algorithms" and on higher difficulties it also says they get a "minor, major, enormous" boost to resources and their sovereign gets boosts to. On road and dirt races, not as much of a problem. Cross Country, however - fuck that. Fucking work of the devil. I often lower the difficulty for CC for the sake of my sanity.

@@abloodynova7625 well, something that happened to me in dirt races with the closest cars to +999 is that it is impossible to get the first place, on some races, u dont have enough acceleration, u cannot make the car stay on the ground so u have to brake a little but not the IA, they go straigh and fast as devil, but ok i taked off all the assist on the difficulty because i hate the lines of help, i hate any control i cant have of the car, i hate the automatic brake of some games and i hate any automatic correction of road that any assist can do, its like going on a train, i dont want that and the lines of help just break all the inmersion of the game and i play in first person too, but, believe me man.. forzas, gran turismo, asseto are games made for steering wheels because playing with a keyboard or joystick its fucking hard, u have to do millons of micro ajustments for any curve.

As far as I am aware the skeletons in the catacombs stay dead without the need of a divine weapon if the local necromancer is dead(the guy near the first catacomb bonfire is one). And i think the necromancers don't re-spawn.

In Skyrim, you sneak up on a enemy and shoot two arrows in his back, the enemy run towards you and you only need to hit him once more, you pull the bow and *smoffs*, the arrow just stop just in front of you and drop to the ground; it's a invisible wall only affecting arrows and it is annoying, sometime you can open a door and see an enemy sitting in a chair, it is a straight and clear line to the target, but again the arrow just drop down at you feet and the enemy is alerted. It still easy to take out the enemy with a battle axe, but that hidden mechanics is the most annoying part of being an archer in Skyrim.

Well about the chest in dark souls, the mimic one of course, since it's not the first time they are aborded in this channel, i would just like to point out that, yes the very first time, you can't really know about them, but actually, there's a way to discern them from normal chest, without being killed by them a few time The little chain on the right of them, or their left, changes position when it's a mimic, the normal one makes a sort of circle, while the mimic doesn't So, they aren't as unfair as they seem (Even if they can still kill you very easily if you try to take them out with weapons) Maybe it has already been said, maybe not, just putting this here But i'll always enjoy those top videos anyway, so keep it up

You forgot to mention the enemies having better items or weapons that you’ll be able to buy or use only after the enemy already had them. This reminds me specifically to Front Mission 4 😆 every dam “wanzer” you fight has better weaponry that you’ll have access to until like 3 more missions, oh and you are outnumbered as well so the only way to win was to trick the enemy in to chasing you making their number go out the window and let them focus on one of your robots and keep healing the part with the most hp, that was literally the only way I was able to beat the game, and you have to play a loooot of training scenarios to get more credits cause you don’t even get half of what you need while playing the story straight, but oh my god was it a good story and pleasure after feeling the accomplishment of finishing it or like we used to say “passing it”.

OMG I'm currently playing Watch Dogs Legion online and it's the most frustrating thing. Every mission that had any kind of fun originality to it has been replaced with wave survival missions. You're playing a game that rewards you for playing stealthily but as soon as you finish the objective stealthily it shoves hoards of enemies at you regardless of if you came in guns blazing or not. Mix that in with the CyberPunk 2077 glitch where cops appear out of thin air in front of you... amazing time guys 👏👏👏
@skilletborne2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the last one with enemies always being able to see you is simply down it being a resource hog and not worth coding in early games. I was blown away that enemies in Borderlands 3 could lose you if you broke line of sight and they'd search where they saw you last.

How about Twisted Metal 2? On it's hardest difficulty, not only do the opponents never run out of weapons or advanced attack bar (being repeat-iced by Mr. Slam until he gets close enough to pound you, for example) but sometimes they do some really hinky stuff... like they'll get rico'd off a building and then suddenly be behind you, returning the favor. My friends and I always wondered what button combo that move used.... we concluded the AI had an 'omnislash' button that just let them wreck everything. :P

I remember playing Call of Duty 2: Big Red One and there was a mission where you needed to defend a radio bunker from Germans for a certain amount of time. Well the bunker had an enclosed hallway that led to the main bunker door. I was playing on Veteran and I thought it would be a perfect spot to hunker down in. Well the Devs thought this made it way too easy, they wanted us to relive Pavlov's House from Call of Duty 1. So they decide to spawn grenades that would throw themselves into the hallway forcing you out of there.. Funny enough I was able to witness the grenades being spawned in a bunch of times because there was a delay.

Honestly most of the enemies hiding you can see if you walk around and wait and look attentively. Ive beaten all 3 DS and their DLCs. Sure there's a lot of bullshit but it's not too bad. Only thing I hate about the Souls games is that getting to any boss is 10x harder than the actual boss fight. It was always such a let down...

The part where you talked about Persona 4's endings reminds me of Chapter 1 of Corpse Party. To get the true ending and progress the story, you have to find a key in a stairwell, find the specific room it unlocks, and read a newspaper in that room after specifically being told not to. The game messes with you a lot with telling you to do and not do things -- there are a lot of things that they say not to do, so then you don't do them and it's all good, but then you pick the answer that seems safest another time and end up with a bad ending. In this chapter, you're just getting used to the game and are taught to be super cautious, so many players don't read the newspaper, and get stuck on the bad ending without knowing why. Not the most egregious example, but certainly a frustrating one, especially given that the game doesn't really give you any direction in where to go ever. You just kind of have to wander around and hope you don't get chased by ghosts or miss something important in a random room, and it's made worse by the "earthquakes" that happen during each chapter that open up new areas and doesn't make it obvious where you can now access. (In the sequel, Book of Shadows, areas that were previously inaccessible would stay grayed out on your map, which could make you believe they're still inaccessible.)

10:08 I definitely remember that in Civ 5, the AI receive combat strength penalties if their empire is unhappy. So they DO have to worry about the happiness. Also, in my 400+ hours of Civ 5, I've never seen an AI build a city within 3 tiles of the existing one. Maybe that was possible in some early unpatched versions, but seems highly unlikely to happen in Brave New World.
