To be honest, I was really curious about the "TLoU" one, because it simply has potential considering the multiplayer-modes in their existing games. - Look, I'm all for JUST that, multiplayer-modes being an addition, a bonus, to the main single-player adventure, I'm not even about live-services or even all that much multiplayer (I like some of the the more unique shooters and also racing and the like), but if they were going to make a "Factions" type multiplayer, build upon that, while also giving it like a side-story in that world, maybe a little in the way "The Division" was presented (not the gameplay), it could've been really interesting. - BUT, for Naughty Dog to say that it's not going anywhere and they just want to go back to what they know and do best, as well as Sony/PS not forcing them to go through with the "Live Service" (which, forcing is often the issue with the products turning out mediocre to plain bad), I respect that and it's of course for the best. Now, people might not be so stoked on that sci-fi game they've announced (which was coming regardless), but at least that's a new IP and relatively unique, at least different from what they've done before. - Still, there was potential there, but only if it was to be good gameplay with a story that would be worth telling and also ended, not just for the sake of an endless "game as a service" and perhaps trying to sell stuff constantly. - Not sure if it would be like that, but yea, that's not what I would want it to be either. - Actually, "Left 4 Dead" comes to mind, I would've liked to seen it in that way, where you essentially play through a story and chapters of it, but perhaps with higher-end cutscenes and not as simplistic as "L4D" of course, and then also a PvP type thing woven into it. - But considering they CALLED it a "live service", it probably wouldn't have been like that. - Just saying...

3 million is really huge! Like that's a really big expectation even for Dragon Age, and it's a great game, plays exactly like Mass Effect which does mean it's really fun, but also disappointing compared to the tactical depth of previous games so I can see why that's a sticking point and why I only give it an 8, but the majority of gamers don't have a clue about details like that it wouldn't explain that big of a difference between expectation and performance

Expectations means a whole 'nother thing in a business sense and has everything to do with ROI (per quarter, per year per head, investment in systems, technologies, property and the value of the IP even- think licensing deals and merch) and nothing to do with thinking more people should play this game. EA doesn't make games for the love of it and that's why I am thrilled with Larain's success with BG3 they are just happy they got to make it!

Thoughts on EA: they are destroying themselves with poor customer service and forced used of the EA (formerly origin) launcher. Back in the day these guys were killing it. You saw the logo and knew it was quality. Now you see the logo and instead of feeling excitement, you feel either nothing or concern. That gut feeling is being followed more and more.

The only EA game I play is WRC and their way of managing live service with WRC should be the standard for all their sport game. I bough it in 2023, play all 2023 stuff and only had to pay like 25$ for the 24' content instead of buying a whole new game at full price.

I can't wait for companies to give up on live service slop and trying to squeeze pennies out of every gamer. I'm glad they're getting mostly punished for their mistakes. I hope we see more AAA studios pivoting towards singleplayer or at least games that aren't driven by fly by night trends enforced by money hungry suits. I hope they're in the finding out stage right now. I've been playing a lot of indie games now because the excitement over new games from AAA studios ended years ago.

A live service God of War sounds so incredibly stupid and I am glad it didn't have a chance to ruin the franchise. GTA V online, Overwatch, and Fortnight really changed the gaming industry for the worse. I get game are expensive, but hoping a single live service title will pump out billions is insane like 2 of those examples did. Poor developers being force to deal with that shit. When another live service game doesn't meet overly high expectation because it's literally JUST another live service title, the studio get shut down. It really is shitty that it is hard to hurt the publisher without developers being the sacrifice.

I think most people aka dudes, prefer playing as a male. Yeah the game looks great, I personally won’t play because I can’t get immersed in the female character. It’s like the new fable coming out, the new Witcher, ect. They just need to add character creator for most games nowadays. Not sure why they don’t.

I think Sony’s heading in the right direction. I think they wanted to at least give the games that were *already in production* a chance, just to not fully make the devs time wasted, but leaning toward “we aren’t doing this”. So I think it’s a GOOD sign on the cancellation.

Personally, I am so excited for South of Midnight. I know We Happy Few has its issues, but the story in that game is one of the best I have ever seen in a video game. I hope that Compulsion learned from the issues with the first major game they released, and I will anxiously await Jake's before you buy. Also, as a Sims player, hearing thatt EA is worried about profits just makes me super annoyed because you know Sims is about to get 15 kits and 4 expansion packs that release in a broken state just so they can get their money back.....

A few things. Went and looked at the DOOM gameplay footage from the event; good stuff coming here in a few months. That team working on it is just massive, way up from the original 4-7 in 1993, heh. Also that new Tokyo racing game, saw that on a good friends stream yesterday, it did look quite nice. Good to see it mentioned here after just hearing about it.

I always found it wild that the trend with all these live service games and borderline cash shop games like FIFA only lasted as long as it did because enough people were dumb enough to throw money at it. Lets hope once these companies switch direction the crowd that willingly/gladly spent a small fortune on virtual content stays out of the market this time lol

I played FIFA back in high school RELIGIOUSLY every day. Shame to hear about the demand dropping but totally understandable. The games gone stale over the last few releases even though players were promised innovation after the split with FIFA. For what it's worth - I'm loving the new tactics system in Career mode this year. UT players hate it but for a purely offline player the tactics system has helped breath new life into the game. Its like "Football Manager" lite (really, really lite) but with better game simulation.

I won’t play the new NG4 if it doesn’t have more weapons than the sword. That was my favorite aspect of the first 2 games was getting and upgrading all the weapons and choosing which worked best for what I was killing.

I wanted to get into Dragon age, I really did, but it had a bug at release that stopped you loading your saves back up unless you did them on an SSD and I'm not going out of my way to buy another SSD (besides the one my operating system is on) just to avoid a bug that shouldn't be there. It's like the new Indiana Jones game, I'd have to buy a new graphics card to play it and it's just not worth it when they could've just made a low graphics setting that didn't require it. I honestly hope it does terribly so they stop pushing so hard on minor graphics improvements, this isn't like the era of PS1 to PS2 to PS3 type graphic jumps, the difference is so miniscule I don't see the point.
