The screenshot highlighted on the map part is really big for me. The most annoying things about some metroidvania's is finding a hidden thing but not able to reach it yet. The screenshot thing is the best alternative to basically writing down a backtrack guide for yourself

Here's my thing with Prince of Persia: The original was actually one of the first games, and particularly PC-games, I had ever played. That was as far back as DOS, when you had to type in the command-prompt, you know. - I even saw the game in black and white on someone else's PC, but mine was in color and it was quite impressive. It was even a bit scary to me as a kid, with the traps and the dudes coming after you with blades. - But I thought it was cool. I even played 'Prince of Persia 3D' for a while, which went off what games like "Tomb Raider" were doing, but it didn't reach the same kind of level and wasn't received well. - It wasn't until of course "Sands of Time" that it became what that game wanted to be and became much bigger. Though, while I thought it was pretty awesome, with how fluid it was and all its visuals and features, I also felt it was a bit cartoonish or something. I felt the original 2D one was a little grittier. But I suppose "Two Thrones" and "Warrior Within" became a little darker. And at the point when we had a bunch of "Assassin's Creed" games, I was actually thinking that they should probably do a new "Prince of Persia" with that engine, which they actually ended up doing with "Forgotten Sands", but sadly it was a bit of a similar case to the 3D-game and not well-received. Before that, however, we of course had that cell-shaded style sort of reboot, which... I didn't like the style of at first. I didn't understand why they went with that and I also didn't care much for the style of gameplay, which I think a lot of people felt as well. - However, in hindsight I think it's actually a good thing that they did that, because they just let a bunch of creatives do their take on the IP and at least it was taking a risk to make something new and refreshing. - I wasn't against it completely, but again, I wanted more grit and had something more like "Forgotten Sands" in mind, which they should have nailed cause I do think it's the right direction for the mainline games. That said, I feel similar about "The Lost Crown". In that, the first impression was kind of like "tf is this??" in terms of the overall style and gameplay (and the reveal-trailer's music just made it feel like they were trying to be trendy or something), although it did look like it could probably just be a good game. - So I'm actually glad that they did this, because they once again let some creative people put their spin on the IP and create a unique game, and I have to give credit to the executives for just greenlighting a videogameass videogame (like the Rayman-games, and the "Gods & Monsters" game, and so on), which Ubisoft as a whole just should be making. - Now people also can't complain that "Ubisoft always makes the same", cause that's just not true. And while I'm still not big on the style (while it does look good), if the gameplay is good, I'm up for it. And also, it's a spin-off, so that's a good way to basically work around it if they decide to make a more "traditional" third-person adventure type game again. - The remaster of "Sands of Time" first, I suppose...

I was disheartened by this being announced purely because it looked like one of the mobile spin off games from the screenshots but you've made me want to buy it now so hats off there.

This game has that nostalgic look to it for some reason. As someone who's played the playstation 2 era POP games, I wasn't sure about this one, but the 2D format is selling it for me. Also as a history nerd, another piece of media referencing the Kushan empire and other central asian ones is awesome, the last time I saw someone pulling from that region and culture was while reading Berserk

I was gonna try this just out of plain nostalgia. But the combat actually looks pretty good.

Old guy here, played the original on PC 30 something years ago and then fell in love again with Warrior Within. Played Hollow Knight earlier this year and I'm thinkin this'll be my next platformer. Looks great! There's just so much to play right now... I'll have to get back to it later :-D

So making a game to get people like me possibly interested in the pop series is a bad thing??? Or are you upset that other people instead of clowns like you might actually like and enjoy a different take on a rather lame series ??

Just finished playing the demo. Even from that small sample size (it's actually a decent sized chunk for a demo) I can tell I will love this game. At first, I was put off by the price, £49.99 for a 2.5D side scrolling platform game, it seemed excessive to me, but I enjoyed it that much that I may actually get this one right away instead of waiting for it to hit a sale.
@Laru-11 ай бұрын
Uplay sales are kinda insane so that's why games are a bit inflated on the price i think. I've bought games with a pay 2 get 3 offer + a 75% off and another 10% with coins on the final price. There's a ton of good metroid you could get for a fraction of the price like blasphemous , ori , hollow knight or bloodstained. For platformers even rayman legends from ubi has insane value for the price. But ye if i had the money i'd get this one too.
@cenciende940111 ай бұрын
What the HELL does being side scrolling have to do with price? Did you have a stroke? Fall out of bed onto your head this morning? STYLE has NOTHING to do with VALUE. People like you are infuriating to developers and people who have a clue

Is just awesome! Love it And hope it is for real - that guys at Ubisoft needed a bit of a creative game after being stuck with failed big projects So they made like a fan favour but for devs - awesome Even though studio - is no more But from what I’ve heard they are just relocated to another big project - hope that’s true Cos they made a banger job Even I fell in love with it!

as the one for who 2003 2004 2005 Sands of Time trilogy is culturally one of the most important and cherishly beloved games of all experienced(it's months before i had my first pc in primary school and watching Warrior Within gameplay in friends home and acrobatics and animations, Prince look, world look, made me fall in love with it and i planned on having this game once i ll get my pc). The vibe of it, the flow, the music, the animations, chracters, dialogues, lines, voices, stories -they imbued in me and part of my sensations - and it's imossible to have games that feel like that in modern times, especially similar Prince of Persia. And because of all that - that 2d version of Prince of Persia - is a crime, i hate and not even gonna watch video if it's good. it's not TRUE Prince of Persia of 00s. "time is running low, you ready?" "i know what you've seen what you think you've seen in the timeline" "objects once familiar and comforting, now fill me with uncertainty and dread. What has happened here?"

After experiencing the heart-pounding stealth and escape portions of Metroid Dread, a well as the excellent combat and platforming of The Lost Crown, I think that a metroidvania entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise would be an excellent next step. It was clear to see the influence that Dread had on The Lost Crown. I would love to see those innovations and inspirations evolved even further. I'm currently midway through TLC, and it continues to simultaneously challenge, frustrate, and reward. (I've only found one platforming puzzle so far that is truly out of reach - but plan to try it on an easier setting soon, lol.) 4.5/5 ☆'s
