Right now I can think of one quest that lied to me. The tenpenny tower ghoul quest in Fallout 3. I didn’t expect Roy Phillips to murder every single person in Tenpenny Tower. I was really bummed out when Dashwood got killed. I didn’t like the conclusion but it does give a valuable lesson. You can’t trust everyone, certain things are beyond your control, and the capital wasteland is very cruel.

Ah yes, that one side quest most lone wanderers, have chosen to avoid. To be honest, I just do it for the caps from the tower, regardless of the rebuke you get from three dog, for taking out Roy and his cronies. If only there was a option to go to three dog and tell him your side of the story.
@VotingChipmunk

Yeah, I much prefer to just kill them all, because you do the "Good" option for a coexistence, only for all the Non-Ghouls to be killed after a time of not being there, so no, fuck Roy and his fucking cronies. I'll gladly take the Negative Karma, even on a Good Karma character. Not exactly hard to get it back anyway.

@@VongolaXZax yeah that one is my least favorite side quest in the game. At least the other ones are awesome. The best one in my opinion is the tree quest with Harold. You gotta shoot them in the head is a good one too. You can just get all the keys and go straight for the T-51 power armor.

When they told me in hellblade that the game resets after couple of deaths. I was so stressed the whole game and then I learned, that it was just a lie made by Senua's psychosis voice. I felt so played. It was fucked up and awesome at the same time.

The game plays on your assumptions. It tells you that "each time you die, the rot on her arm will spread" and "when it reaches her head she will die". You need to see it as 2 separate statements. It never actually says that dying in game will make the rot spread to her head, that's just what most people assume. Adds to the paranoia of the game I guess. Plus they didn't lie about her dying when it reaches her head, but it only happens in a scripted scene at the end of the game.

True. I dragged that final fight out much longer than needed, because I simply didn't want to let go, and I wanted to believe that it was possible to beat it. Most interesting "boss fight" ever imo. And the music just amplified everything so much. The best part about it is probably that I wasn't really left with the typical "You lied to me"-feeling that I've gotten from some other games. Can't wait until Senua's Saga comes out.

Regarding the FarCry3 Quest with Buck I think the reason why you can't kill him from the start is because you don't know where he has the friend captive. The "magical" powers of the knife can be explained as hallucinations caused by the drugs the Rakyat give to Jason, the gases he breathes in the ruins, the strong heat in the island etc. And regarding the ruins, there is a running theme of the island drawing "powerful" warriors and challenging them, first with the Rakyat, then the Chinese, the soldiers during WW2, the Pirates, Denis and finally Jason Brody.

Surprised they didn't mention the bunker run in far cry 5. The game makes you run through this bunker and memorize it while you hallucinate. Something to consider for people who are somewhat confused by the existence of some of the bizarre missions you sometimes get in the Far Cry series: They answer to all your questions is in the title - it's literally half of an old adage that your parents or grandparents may have used "Far cry from reality" as in "That horror film was a far cry from reality." -- hope this helps those who were confused. Good video - love your content - keep up the good work.

A somewhat meta example, in the original Gravity Rush, there's a side mission in the game's DLC where one of the game's villains, the thief king Alias, returns and is wreaking havoc.Thing is, by this point in the game, Alias is presumed dead after a battle with Kat in the main story. So when "Alias" shows up and begins causing trouble, his methods are entirely different, now using bombs instead of summoning Nevi, the enemies of the series. At the end of this quest string, it's revealed that "Alias" is just a kid with a crush on Kat who wanted to get her attention, and the bombs were just fireworks. So the game not only tricks the player into thinking they would get to see more interactions with the mysterious thief, who only appeared briefly in the main campaign, it also tricks the player into thinking they can drop the kid into the void below the game world. It actively prompts you to just drop the kid as he rambles on about his love for Kat, which to be fair, isn't an entirely unreasonable thing to do since he was literally acting like a terrorist just to impress her. But alas, the moment you drop him, the game resets things and acts like you didn't do it.

How about the entire game of AC Valhalla? Pick M or F Ivor? M Ivor is used in basically all the art: the first teaser; the main story trailer; the primary posters; the box art; the game thumbnails; the auto wallpaper; etc. But, from the get go, the story is specifically written featuring F Ivor, even the given name Ivor is a F name, which you won't know unless you were born and raised in the culture or bother to look it up. Ubi did it to a lesser degree in Odyssey, Kassandra wasn't forced into player character position until DLC and novelization story content. I would've bought and played the games happily regardless of M or F main, but now I've been lied to, and that good will is gone for good.

The Far Cry 3 one... That's a main quest. I wouldn't say that totally counts. My choice, and I actually just remembered this quest while I was watching this video so ya know, thanks for that, would be the "pinned to earth" side quest. It's been awhile since I played fc3, but iirc, you meet this old lady in a shack who tells you she heard a plane fly past overhead and crash, could you go check and see if anyone's injured or dead or in need of help or w/e? Okay, this promises anything from loot to a payday depending, so why not. You check out the crash site, and yup, there's a plane right where the old lady said. Except it's a rusted-out hulk. Windows are filthy, nothing's in fire like you'd expect of a recent crash and what there is of the fuselage has been modified into living quarters by a guy who says he's been there for like ten years. And oh yeah, he knows the little shack where you met the old lady, but he's never met anyone living there. End of mission. No explanation, nothing. Oh, the guy pays you, just for showing concern for your fellow human, you get some experience, the usual quest stuff, but you never see the old lady against and the game never tells you what her deal was. Was she the ghost of someone who died the day of the crash? Was she just a confused or crazy old lady who gave you a job and just wandered off for the horizon? No idea.

That Ovlivion entry brought up an old memeory of a game I havent been able to remember the name while searching for it. It was on PC during the 90s and involved a plot where youre a future soldier in an infantry unit which uses battle armor suits called TOPHAT or HATS or some acronym like that. It was mainly point and click first person with meagerly animated cutscenes and dialogue scenes. You go through base life talking to your fellow soldiers and COs, going out on combat missions where youre killing some alien looking enemy, getting put on kitchen duty and having a prolinged debate over what KP duty stood for, "Keep peeling!" Its revealed eventually the armor suits have been projecting video feed tonthe soldiers which has been tampered with and you have actually been murdering civilians of some planet or community or something. It was at thos point i would recieve a Fliating Point Error on my crap pc and could never finish the game. Please if anyone can decipher what game ive been searching for out of my details it would help ease my mind and would be much appreciated

Just remembered a sidequest you can find in the bazaar in Dying Light 2. SPOILERS: There's a ginger kid (teenager most likely) you can talk to who says he's looking for people who are new in town, and he's got a job for new people. It all winds up being a ploy to lure victims who won't be missed around town, specifically because they're new and not well know to the community. The quest ends with the kid acknowledging what he'd done, and ending his own life because he felt such extreme guilt. It's not what you thought you were getting yourself into when you chose to talk to the kid, and changes how likely you are to put your trust in every Tom, Dick And Harry you might run into during your playthrough.

2:14 The term Jazzed was particulary used more in 1920s according to chatgpt. this clearly shows he is from the future for the arthur living somewhere in bw 1899-1903.

The Fable guy on completion at least gives you the pretty sweet Fire Monkey tattoo that that once inked on increases your good alinement and attractiveness stats by 50ish points. Not to shabby right at the start of the game if you are playing as a good character 😎

Number 1 Reminds me of the lunatic in The Witcher 2, Where he asks you to collect a bunch of Harpy Feathers for research, in the end of the sidequest he was actually trying to make a Ridiculous looking chicken-bird suit.
