@paladinboyd12288 жыл бұрын
MemoriesDestroyUs It may be too depressing to show to a wide audience making less money and alienating the masses. Personally if they did go through with a movie make it a anime, anime's can get really dark and the effects would look better the last thing we want is a bioshock movie with poor effects.

I read an article that says the director or whoever was the main person making it wanted it to be rated r and only that way as pg 13 wouldn't be able to make it a true bioshock movie. but at the time making an r rated movie with the budget they needed would be too risky. which is why we never got the movie.

PG-13 means a wider audience. Hollywood execs just looking out for their green, unfortunately. It's the reason why Star Wars hasn't evolved beyond being campy and sanitized. It would be a pretty good story if it moved beyond the space soap opera into more mature fare.
@halfassedhero5008 жыл бұрын
its always like this. they take something meant for an older audience and completely scrap it .suicide squad the comic was for the mature. Even the cartoon movie(assault on Arkham) was meant for mature. live action movie??? nope PG13 *now go F*ck yourself fans* so yeah its unfortunate that they alienate the people it was meant for *us In the m-R*
@halfassedhero5008 жыл бұрын
yes, but what if it was a story wasn't meant for a child, what if it was a story that's for adult appreciation? star wars was for everyone back in the day you can see star war in theaters as a kid. but in my example they took something for adult enjoyment and mushed it down to kid appropriate which pissed a lot of people off cause they know what it is from reading the comic or watching the cartoon . they basically did what you said about star wars, only they tried to go from mature to kid friendly.

Oddly enough in an Objectivist society like Rapture, an R rated Bioshock would have been made with little to no opposition. Kinda funny that the film, which being that its one of the themes of the game and the film would be made in Hollywood, would have been about the issues of a society lacking in regulation, was halted by self inflicted regulation created out of the need to make sure the industry wouldn't be regulated by the government. That's pretty ironic.
@zotaninoron35488 жыл бұрын
The movie ratings system is voluntary and has no force of law. What happened with regard to the movie was that the people who were going to pay to make it wanted to have as wide an audience as possible for a 'video game movie' and thought the target should be PG13. What narrows the audience from PG13 to R is not law but an agreement between movie distributors and the public's expectations. In a society where wealth makes right, I don't see this scenario changing overly much. So I would have to disagree greatly with your conclusion. Ratings might still exist as an exercise in marketing.
@domlocke38458 жыл бұрын
Zotan Inoron The MPAA was born out of fear of regulation by the US government when film was a new media, much like the ESRB system. Voluntary or not, it is a form of regulation that would not have been born had the US government been more Objectivist and allowed the market to regulate itself. Perhaps a rating system would have been created regardless, as you said, it would make sense for a rating system from a marketing standpoint. However, it would not be a system that tells the artist what to do like the MPAA does, nor mark them with a stigma for not compromising their vision. Something film makers do time and again to avoid the dreaded NC-17 rating.
@zotaninoron35488 жыл бұрын
Dom Locke "...allowed the market to regulate itself." That is literally what was allowed to happen. The MPAA, the movie industry, regulated itself. It is a pretty terrible and capricious rating system to be honest, but it is industry done. Nothing stops anyone from compromising their vision except money. Which is exactly the problem with any Randian Hellscape. Wealth makes right. There are no laws requiring theaters to bar NC-17 or R rated movies. It is voluntary, and sometimes they make exceptions at their discretion. One is also free to not have a film rated. What it comes down to is that the makers of a movie want a specific seal in order market and sell their movie from the MPAA. If person paying to make the movie wants to target a particular demographic through the use of the rating or seal, then the 'artists' that person hires to produce it are bound to the desires of the man with the money. This dynamic does not change and any 'Objectivist' scenario. The one with the money makes the rules.
@domlocke38458 жыл бұрын
Zotan Inoron Yes, that is what happened, but in a city like Rapture it would have formed a far less harsher system. If it didn't have the governments values breathing down its neck, the rating system would be much different. If there is no threat, then it forms organically, instead of being rushed, making it often times harmful to film makers. All of the things you see in films, such as the common toilet, had to be negotiated into film over the course of a century. Psycho ran head long into that hurdle and wrestled with the MPAA until Hithcock won. In a world where the MPAA didn't have a governing body to be weary of and conform to, which is the point of such an economic system, you would have had a toilet in a film prior to 1960, among other things. And that is my point. Film is part business and part art, you are correct from the business stand point, and I from the art. And yes, what you said is the issue with such a society, its downfall. It is the fatal flaw with an Objectivist society, no more than Socialism's tenancy to radicalize into Communism or Fascism. No ism is perfect, no way of life permanent. But I'd say it's a fair thing to assume that under a society like Rapture the artist would, for a time, have a greater sense of individualism shown in his art and freedom to present that art, than in any other system man has conjured. In time would it rot? Likely, but in time everything rots.

You never realized that how you acted impacted other people until you played a goddamn video game? I hope you’re just trying to be dramatic, because if not, that’s extremely pathetic. Either you have no self-awareness whatsoever, or you have no relationships with any other people (which is almost impossible, considering that you are playing a video game, meaning you are part of society, as in your either worked to earn money to buy the game/system or someone purchased it for you = you have a relationship with another person.)

I'm honestly not sure if I'd call it a spiritual successor to Bioshock, because if it's anything like Gone Home. It'll barely have any thing to do like a Bioshock game and will likely be. "Read a bunch of shit and piece the story together and if you can't figure it out by the end we'll just tell you."

The code 0451 would definitely make sense to be a reference to the book. In that book they also have firemen and other things that are in the world of Bioshock Infinite, and there is a lot of inspiration from those books in Bioshock Infinite.

It actually wasn't really Ken that yelled at Courtnee, she made Troy berate her as himself or in Booker's voice as well, and often times she would ask him to be more harsh and more degrading. Legit one of my favorite fucking things about this game was Courtnee's fucking incredible attitude towards it, she wanted it to be as genuine as possible.

He doesn't pause, he just cuts it together. I sometimes make similar videos like that without a script, so I speak a sentence or sometimes even half and then stutter, mumble, hit the microphone or just cant think of what comes next. The little breaks are so you can't hear the cuts. At least that's what I imagine.

@GmanZer08 жыл бұрын
well...in a way...you played the prequel and if ou played the story dlc that came with it, you could go ahead and play bioshock 1&2. (then again, you would lose out on some big moments because you already know what happened).

Actually the who story is linked like Elizabeth is the reason rapture fell (play the infinite dlc burial at sea) she told Atlas the code and he fucked up rapture with the splicers she didn't Care since she got killed by Atlas well her second self but I think she did it to be in the body of Anna ( that's her) after the credits in the main game a cutscene with booker and Anna appears showing that they're both alive....but anyways yeah all games are linked if you think about bioshock 2 is actually the last one since rapture got fucked after that so if there is another game it will be in Columbia again or a different city in a wierd place like space
@GmanZer08 жыл бұрын
thats what ive been saying, expect i didnt want 2 tell the dlc ending in case they didnt play it

You know what's the sad part, that once i played it i think i didnt even reached the part where i got Elizabeth out of the tower because i thought this game is so lame and boring and very weird, but yesterday i started to replay it and finish it because i felt bad for judgeing it by the looks, throughtout the game i really enjoyed it alot and i reached the ending and i felt so sad, because i wanted a happy ending but no, and then i played the DLC and i thought maybe they repaired things like *Spoilers* Elizabeth didnt killed Booker and they actually got to Paris together, but no, she killed him once again in Burial At The Sea part 1 ending, i mean not only once but twice, like srsly why tho, y u do dis bioshock ;_; ma feelings they hurt, and the sad part is that in the part 2 in the Burial At The Sea, she dies too, now wtf, and as i remember Booker still exists in many infinite universes, but Elizabeth said that all of herself in other dimensions dissapeared and she is the only one left, but then i saw that she went back in time and she saw herself with Booker speaking with Daisy, and she said "I miss you" to booker, that moment my heart melt and i just went in bed and slept, like seriously this game is more than a game, is action/awesomeness/historic,dramatic, i wish to erase my memories to replay it with the joy i played it once. this is my opinion
