What im thinking may have happened is the Prototype did save the kids at first, and things were fine for the most part, until food and resources started to run out and they started getting sick and dying. So by that point the Prototype did the only other thing as his disposal he could potentially do to "save" them, and tried to turn them into toys himself, becoming the thing he hated the most but for his own twisted justified reason. I like this idea because maybe Poppy KNOWS this and wants to free everyone from their suffering, and it would be nice to not have a "true" villian besides the humans who started this whole thing to begin with.

Actually I think the person Ms Delight talked to and said the children were safe but not with the employees wasn’t actually the prototype but Catnap although I wouldn’t be surprised he likely took the orphans to a secure area under the prototypes orders.

The prototype is probably using their body parts in itself, the prototype is very sadistic and seems to manipulate all around it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is actually creating a biotech body for itself or trying to play god making its own army of half human/half doll creatures. One of its lines with that evil scientist caught my attention when it states that it(the prototype) is learning with him every day, learning how to cut flesh and bones, remove organs and blood.

Miss Delight was telling what happened between her and Catnap in the vhs. It was Catnap that locked Miss Delight, and her "sisters" in the school, and didn't open the door until only one remained.

Catnap could just be relaying the Prototype's words to Miss Delight. After all, Catnap seems to be doing the bidding of the prototype. So the Prototype must have told Catnap to tell Miss Delight about the children. But idk it's just a THEORY.

From what I remember about the first chapter, it takes place 10 years after your coworkers disappeared aka 'the hour of joy', so IF the children are still alive then most of them would probably be young adults or teenagers, also if the brains of the toys still mature in the same way normal humans do then I'd assume that they would also be somewhere in that age range

My main guess was that they are alive and now probably young teens or young adults, so they decide to write to MC(The Player who had a hand in the hour of joy, my main evidence of this when the reverse says "Your presence was demanded 10 years ago and you didn't show up. 8/8/1995 You were supposed to be here. Why weren't you here? You missed the meeting") to lure us in and save them, and mercy killed the bigger toys!

The food is all Playtime Co., and given how the company likes to have control over everything they do it's likely that all the food is made in house. With the Red Smoke machine in Ch. 3 working it's possible the other deep machines keeping the factory alive are also still working. As to the theory the kids grew up and wrote the note; considering the grammar and spelling weren't perfect, it does point to a steady hand that didn't get quite enough education. Perhaps a child's mind in a young adult's body.

Or it could be that he killed the innocents because he knew they would report what happened to the authorities and the government would come in and wipe out the toys with superior firepower.

For a few days now, i began seeing an interesting detail about the smiling critters, which could lead to some theories maybe. How many are there? 8 if you count Catnap, and 7 if you dont. Now 7 is an interesting number, cause 7 tends to imply the 7 deadly sins, but it can imply the 7 virtues as well. And if we look throught the 7 smiling critters, each can be paired up with one of the 7 virtues, mainly based on their character description. Catnap cant really be paired up with any of the virtues, which could explain his different role from the others. Im wondering if the number of smiling critters was intentional here, or just purely random.

Im not totally sure this are the correct pairs, maybe im overthinking it, but i wanted to share my thoughts.

This actually got me thinking with the religious visuals in this chapter that the smiling creatures may represent the 7 archangels of the orthodox. Here's what I think happened, the MC used to be an orphan who was raised alongside Maria Payne (Mommy Long Legs) & Theodore Campbell (Catnap) unlike them they were one of the few lucky ones who was adopted, they came back to work for Playtime co in order to help the orphans like how they were helped, they then realize the dark secrets of playtime Co and it's sickened them, they then came across the Prototype realizing that this was the imaginary friend that Theodore had, both of them then plan the hour of joy, that's why the MC wasn't there that's why they missed the meeting, he helped planned it all but the sad part is neither them nor I suspect the Prototype wanted this to go as far as it did, I think in the end originally the hour of Joy was supposed to cover the children's Escape but again everything went too far as it did.

The prototype on the other hand seems like it wants all the toys to stay where they are, having their own territory like animals. Finally the prototype would have the most knowledge in creating more toys since his home is the labs, it’s been showed he remembers the experiments on himself also he would of seen all the other toys being experimented on

Well, two things... Poppy said no matter what, innocent or guilty, the toys had killed EVERYONE. This is probably including the kids. And second, poppy said it what "senseless slaughter", which means the toys probably weren't aware who they killing, and just wanted food.

As far as we know only Catnap and the Prototype know where the children are Ms Delight couldn't get a straight answer from Catnap (I guess Theo is still trying to protect them) because she knew that he knew she would try to kill them like the rest Which by the way, who was Ms Delight recording that tape for, or who was she talking to in the tape. We know Playtime records people at will all over the facility so was she just leaving an audio diary, talking to the prototype telling him that Catnap won't give her the location of the other children Kissy and Poppy don't seem to have a clue where the kids are as her unused dialogue in chapter 1 said that everyone was killed, that there's no one left to save My question is where is the prototype and why hasn't he stopped us before we got this far? He took mommy long legs' possibly reaching way past what's normal, he seems to be pretty sizable as he was large enough to take Catnap through the ceiling, if he can reach anywhere why not just kill us when we arrived? Better yet why did he wait until the others started dying to collect them? What's he patching himself up to be

In other chapters they hinted that the substance created with poppies could be used to introduce a dead creature and then revive it. They tried it with rats but it didn't work and they thought it could work using something bigger. Maybe the children are still children but they have been in that preservative liquid all these years and that is why Poppy says Player can still save some people.

Maybe the children are "safe" dont mean that they are safe from our perspective. From the perspective ot the prototype it could mean something complete diffrent. The argument that the children has to be kept in the factoy, cuz of the hunger of the dolls undermines the influence of the prototyp. If the prototyp is the reason why all the dolls eat the adults he needed to have a massive influence to them. We saw that catnip whorshipped him. If the prototyps utlimate goal is to free the children and save them, why is he not using his influence to manipulate the dolls to not attacke the children. And yes i think that has to be possible. Kissy Missy is not killing us either. So the children are dead, eaten by the toys or the prototyp converted them into toys. Remeber Theodore. Why did the prototyp bring Theodore backt o the doctor? "This was the only way to safe him" sounds far fetched. Outside would be plenty medical care for Theodore. The public and specially the law enforcement would be very interested in what is going on in Playcares orphanage. Maybe Theodore would die outside of Playcare, but he would die so the rest of the kids would be resuced. It looks to me that the prototyp wanted Theodore to become a toy, to have a ally. Something highly speculative: Why did the prototyp ask: "Do you feel anything?". Maybe the only thing he sees and knows is that adults are the worst and he wants to save the children in an way that they not becoming adults, by turning them into toys. Whatever the prototyps plan is it will be very fucked up.

I don’t think it’s likely for anyone to reproduce in a ruined environment such as Playtime Co. Being pregnant, giving birth, and taking care of infants would be challenging in ruined old factory. Also super unhealthy. Who knows what became of them all though…

The prototype seems more like an anti-hero than villain. We can understand why he killed all the Playtime employees, and in the end he did it so that no more children would suffer the same fate as him and the other toys.

Maybe the most broken toys such as mommy longlegs, huggy wuggy, their smaller minions, etc. were banished from the lower levels because even the prototype couldn't control them? Catnap could have been responsible for feeding them hence him being here. If so there could be another route out from the deeper levels, a way to get more food. Maybe even collaborators in the outside world hungry for the secret of the prototype, trading food for new research done by captive researchers on employees or captives.

This entire series had me wondering. If the Prototype can sneak through vents and Catnap encountered the player several times, why they didn't kill the player? They could easily do that! Maybe the Prototype and Catnap are protecting the Children. Another thing is that, on VHS, I did not notice any Children being tortured, or murdered which only means, they were saved prior to the hours of joy. Can't wait for Chapter 4 😊

I personally think this is like a promised neverland type of thing (search it up) either they saved some of the employees for them to breed and have children, that would explain why there would be children there, after the employees get old etc etc they get killed and feed the toys, explaining why even though they get fed, they are awfully skinny, because there arent enough old employees, and those children will become like the employees and so on, thats why poppy wants to free them

it could be possible for the Orphans to have survived as there could of been procedures in place for a lockdown bunker type deal and perhaps there was food supplies tucked away. It would also explain why the hostile toys can't get to them because they are sealed away. Another theory might be the children did live in the factory freely after the hour of joy and once the corpses were disposed but the toys could of become hostile out of hunger and begun harming the children in the end so the prototype sent them further down to remain safe and away from the hostile toys but arguably it might not make sense why Poppy would hate him so much (despite The Hour of Joy) Though she might view him as keeping them prisoners and the prototype views it as keeping them safe from the outside world

Theory what happened to the children I believe that the children are still alive somewhere in a mini community under the playtime Co. factory, and I also believe that the prototype ordered cat nap to take all the food from the food storages within the factory so they can feed it to the children and keep them alive while experiments ate the corpses of the playtime Co. employees and most of those kids are adults now some of them are 18 while olly and the other younger kids are probably 12 years old because this game is taking place in 2002 and the hour of Joy happened eight years ago in 1995 so I believe the next chapter we’re going to find the children in a community under the guardianship of the prototype within the factory

There is a mighty good chance the children and the employees left alive were grouped into families that day, then shown a secret way out, so they could live in hiding. The Prototype has proven to be highly intelligent, I believe it has a very organized mind, so there is a good chance they are alive.

What has everyone and thing been eating? No one can answer that (understandingly). The vending machines still have contents (likely expired). Playco is in an industrial zone, miles from any reasonable resources. How is anything that needs food alive in there, it's been 10yrs. Moreover, the toys are made with human parts, so how much sustenance is actually in them (did Miss Delight eat the mechanical parts of her 'sisters' too)? This is what truly differentiates games like these from AAA titles, gross oversight in the story. Do better Mob Games (and the like), do better...

I'm still sticking with the theory that he's converting or converted them into toys, due to his own madness. You're also slightly wrong about the feeding. This is something everyone keeps parroting, but the story doesn't agree with it. The toys don't need to feed, they feel an intense, insatiable hunger. But they don't NEED to feed. They won't die without food, but they also feel such a major desire, that they will eat anyone they get a chance at. If this weren't the case, poppy would be dead, potentially so would kissy. There wouldn't be enough 'food' in the place for them to successfully survive for any amount of time with how much they clearly show to hunger, even if we were to factor in the children as potential food, the time it takes to 'raise' them as a 'farmable' source of food would be completely unsustainable for the amount of time it takes for maturity, their own food supply during that time, and the amount of toys there are. Keep in mind just of what we've currently seen there's well over sixty toys. I would also argue the feeding isn't something all of them feel, as mommy longlegs showed very little interest in eating you, while the smaller toys show a high desire to eat you. Which would indicate the smaller ones would be more in line with their baser instincts, while mommy longlegs seemed to have no care about eating, which means it's potentially simply a mental thing that, if ignored, just doesn't exist.

I think this is all a misdirect. I think Poppy is tricking us into thinking the kids are still there, the note that brought us back never explicitly said WHO we were going back for. I think (whether it's poppy or the Prototype) they want this to end but had to lie about the kids/coworkers to get us here and keep us here. But i think theyre long gone or toys by now... i run thatll by the biggest guttpunch for players, despite all we did to save them, they were never there at all , we stopped the experiments, burned the evidence so it cant be replicated, but they're all gone. THAT is a horror game, your inital goal ripped from you and you take base survival over total failure. I don't think we're meant to SAVE anyone, just end it all. And this was the best way to get us in, trying to save what has been long lost/gone. There is no way there is a single living child, theres no way, if anything, theyre toys now, but there cannot be living people in this factory after all this time.
