In Ratri's story it's also explained that her grandmother tells her how to do a ritual so that she gets the main role and tell her when she gets the role she must dance for the entity as thanks. She follows the steps of the ritual, but she ends up slandering her sister and doesn't comply with the dance either. The angry spirit for her selfish act and unfulfilled promise kills her in such a brutal way, and in the end she is seen dancing for all eternity as punishment.

Thai here, let's me explain many part you missed to you. first the shadowy entity that harassing you and sometimes jumpscare you in Preta chapter is not his motorcycle gang members but more of generally sinner soul that being trapped in form or roaming spirit(สัมภเวสี) but some can argued that these things are lesser Preta(yes there's countless type of Preta, the gang leader is the most common depiction of Preta which is gigantic, as tall as Doub palm or Tal palm tree/electrical pole, have comically and disproportionally oversized hands and mouth in the size of pinhole) also the gang leader that died is named Pichai Manapaiboon(พิชัย มานะไพบูรณ์) or Tae(เต้) who become a Preta because he robbed his own mom and being massive asshole in general. his boss fight stage is actually his mother's house where he committed unforgivable sin. yes, Thai names are long as fuck, there's good reason all of us have a nickname Belle or Pattra Srisakul(พัทตรา ศรีสกุล) the student ghost with box cutter is actually in the love triangle, she love Shane(the guy who hanged himself) but Shane love Cherry(another girl) so she use lechery spell that she get from necromancer/occultist Chai to make he love her, Cherry notice that Shane act weird so she investigated and know the truth. Belle try to kill Cherry with cursed nail jinx but Cherry managed to getting the help from novice monk(the same one we met in chapter2) so as usual, the spell backfired and killed Belle. Also Belle is in faculty of art while Shane and Cherry is in faculty of science/engineering, which is why in the early part of her stage it's more laboratory puzzle and in the later part of her stage it's more of artsy and there's a lot of canvas littered around. we're deeper in her domain(faculty of art building), the room we fight her in her boss battle is abandoned multipurpose room(ห้องเอนกประสงค์) which is the place she casted her dark spell. it also a stealth pun that she know the (dark)art and (witch)craft, her blood portal is also connected that she is an art student in life who painted canvas like she painted the wall with blood in her death. you get most of the dancer story right but you missed an important detail, she made a deal with the local guardian spirit(เจ้าที่เจ้าทาง) a powerful spirit with bright glowing green eyes who acted like mafia more than guardian, the deal is if she become the main star of the grand dancing performance she will dance naked in front of the spirit, the spirit driven the former star dancer named Buaklee(บัวคลี่) away by haunting her and make way for Ratri to become the main star. the spirit only turned on her when it's learned the she intend to break her promise by saying that it's all her doing and the spirit and Ming is just a bunch of tools. the spirit like any good ol mob boss killed her in the most horrifying and agonising way but Chai claimed her spirit first so the spirit aiding us by providing us safe point to get back at Ratri(who later have to full fill her end of the deal by dance naked in the end of her chapter, that's why we only see her shadow). also the teacher's wife belonging that Ming stole to frame Tida is many gold bar and ornament(South east Asian are more gold crazed than south American, they have city of gold, we have the whole region of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia called land of gold) which basically old school version of life saving. that's why the teacher is furious enough to chopped Tida's arm off with axe. addition is the whole Tim and Jane love life in ruins is because the cursed bed, in one of the story of chapter 2 mentioned cursed bed with cursed coffin nail. Tim and Jane's bed have the said nail on the side. it power is making you cheat with your lover. the reason Tim's magic sword turn orange after he use it against necromancer Chai is because he use it to harm other not for self defense like novice monk said. Chai is in non hostile and harmless position but Tim use that opportunity to killed Chai which turned the magic knife evil and later turned him evil.(blue = good, orange = evil) also Chai need sinner of 5 sin for his ritual, 5 sins in Buddhism believe aka 5 precepts is Killing/harming other(Belle), Theft(Tae the Preta), Sexual Misconduct(Jane), Falsehood(Ratri the Dancer) and Intoxication(Tim). Executioner zombie we met have protective tattoo that's why he immuned to everything. he also have to be blinded by poisonous herbs and drowned in order to kill him in the first place, he come from early Rattanakosin era of Thailand which is also known as Siam. Krasue or also known as Aph and Penanggalan is speculated to be the grandma that raise Tida and Ratri. bonus : in Thai ,Chai means victory(he is almost win), Ratri means night(she is dark and secretive as the night), Tida means daughter(she is kind spirit who help us fight her evil sister). Belle means beauty in France which may explained that she is all about art.

It's also mainly because certain horror stories are inspired/based of true events, and theres an extreme lack of morality for the spirits or demons in the story, most western media have this "if you're good and respectful the ghost won't bother you." type of mindset, but in asian myths it's never or just rarely the case, you just happen to be there at the wrong place and at the wrong time then they'll come for you, regardless if you're good person or not.
@AzureRoxe
@AzureRoxe 2 жыл бұрын
@@wegettingrippedtonight1190 Plus the west tends to have a very specific kind of spirit or killer, mostly a big and imposing male, not much magic being involved in most stories too. The East tends to use females, usually slender, long-haired and young [aka someone you wouldn't immediately think "this person is dangerous", making people drop their guard]. A lot of eastern stories and myths and urban legends involve magic, hexes and curses while most western stories boil down to just a ghost of someone with an unfulfilled purpose or "bad person died, so now they're a bad ghost". Culture is important too. In the west, outside of Christianity and the like, no one really believes in spells or things like that, many eastern cultures heavily believe in it all.

South East Asian ghosts were always scary. Being Cambodian (southeast Asian) ghost stories and games like these always freaked me out. I’ve seen ghosts (I know I sound crazy but other ppl that were around me would witness the same things) and it is an uneasy disturbing feeling. Especially hearing prayers/sutras in the middle of the night which happened to me and then next thing you know something just walks in front of you even though nothing is there all you hear are creaking floors and the feeling the wood floor dip a little and then feeling a hand touch your shoulder is so scary 😭😭😭😭 ghosts that have grudges are just straight up a no no to me

Yo, what’s sup fellow Cambodian! I totally relate that to unsettling feeling with hearing prayers at night too. My family is super religious and my grandfather was a monk (he passed away a few years ago). But because of my grandfather’s occupation, I got to witness a few exorcisms (they’re on other family members tho and it’s always the same ones because they’re apparently more “spiritually in tuned” or more susceptible to getting possessed?). I honestly don’t believe in that stuff, but it’s still scary at heck watching grown adults suddenly pass out and change their demeanor entirely once they wake up in a hazed state. My family a has whole room dedicated to praying and I hate how they always leave a red light on in the room at night. Idk, it just makes the room more terrifying.

Jane is the most unworthy woman lol. I liked the Episode 1 of this game. There's a lot of spooks and good jumpscares. The 2nd game felt a little bit of a disappointment around the 2nd act. The story of Ratri is still as good as the first game though. Also, to be blunt, I think Jane has the most annoying cries I ever heard in a horror game. (I'm sorry!) I think you missed the explaination why Tim was also targetted by Chai. Tim was also afflicted by the "Bad Karma" because Tim had committed one of the "5 Precepts" - basic Buddhism doctrine that Budhist must follow to show their committment, which can be said to "Abstaning from Murder", "Abstaining from Stealing", "Abstaining from Falsehood", "Abstaining from Sexual Misconduct", "Abstaining from Intoxication" So the 5 people that had been guilty of these 5 precepts are: 1. Belle - Murder, or at least had the intention for murder when she cast a jinx against Shane's then lover 2. Gang leader - Stealing, the leader committed various robberies as well as hurting his own parents 3. Ratri - Falsehood, she falsely setup Tida so that Tida would be blamed over a crime she didn't commit 4. Jane - cheating on her husband, basically. There was no proof if she had done sexual acts with Dew, but her being in this list should be enough implication 5. Tim - After Jane's disappearance, Tim became an alcoholic

Tim's fate is sealed. He has turned evil and he is set to be punished for eternity after his death. This feels so unfair to Tim somehow. While he did kill Chai who was in a non-hostile position, Chai was in the process of committing the most ultimate evil. Why? (1) he was going to exact vengeance and not become like Buddha (2) he was literally going to open the gates of hell for power so he could take vengeance and (3) he created the spell "Sole Eternity" which would give him control over everything and disrupt the natural cycle of the universe such as samsara. By doing all these things he is essentially blaspheming and coveting the power of Buddha or the Hindu gods. Hopefully as a reward, Time gets a divine intervention and given good karma to go to heaven. Near the end of the game, he is given depictions of the punishments for people who ignore the 5 precepts. I hope he learns from that.

Strange that the girl is framed but still being punished in after life for it... I mean the girl's karma should have been good since she didn't actually guilty of the crime... Also, is there only one ending?

I'm Thai and we believe that some ghost that still have regret or unfinished business will be bound to the mortal realm. In Thida case, Her regret is how she bring framed by Ratri so she probably choose to stay to seek her justice.

A little fucked up that Tim's wife gets stuck in Limbo forever for ONE mistake (which considering the events that led up to it, is somewhat understandable). I mean compared to the other ghosts in Limbo her offense was pretty minor in comparison. :/

I must say, one of the most frustrating things for me, is when any movie, or game, or story, has someone experiencing generally bad things by entities only they can sense, the apparitions progressively getting worse and worse, eventually leading the person to start seeing and hearing things and even being able to be touched/physically harmed by the entities which the rest of the family, of course, cannot see, and YET, yet, the victim's loved ones and family and those closest to them, do not believe them... it bothers me. I would believe my closest loved ones whether I could perceive the entities or not, I would absolutely believe my loved ones if they were going thru such torment. All it does is instills mistrust in the victim towards the ones who were once their closest confidantes. And it's almost unbelievable too. Wouldn't you guys trust your closest friends and family in such a situation to be honestly telling the truth? I think most people would...

Some of these Thai horror mythology and superstitions remind me of my countries mythology and superstitions , the love spells or lechery jinx reminds me of the Filipino "Gayuma" which is a potion or spell , the Floating head with exposed organs reminds me of the "Manananggal" (the remover) which is basically a version of the vampire , it can detach itself from its lower body and grow wings and fly.

Fun fact: In the tibetan version of Buddhism Pretas are called hungry ghosts and they are so because they wasted food in their previous life. Hungry ghosts cannot eat and everytime they try so their throat burns in pain and so they are hungry as the name applies. But on the upside they can consume by smelling incense and once all their Karma is gone they can be reborn.

How did he kidnapped Jane, and if he could kidnap her, why didn't he do the same to Tim? Is there any greater reason for their photoframe falling everytime?

What a fever dream this is, very well done tho thats cool... but the ending is just wild. I love horror games and shows but I just can't watch or play them due to my nerves, jump scares are way, way too effective on me sadly lmao, but at the same time I'm almost impossible to scare irl. No doubt the first woman our main character runs into is the sickly and missing schoolgirl and I also bet she was jinxed with The Cursed Nails... sounds utterly painful and miserably agonizing, probably a slow death too...😵‍💫😨😱😖 Edit: 10:20 I KNEW IT!!!!
