Haven't watched the video yet but the ryzen 5 5600x is selling for 10-20 bucks less than a 10700k so I'm really wondering if it will live up to thay price tag. Like I suppose it does better in some games but at that price it is really not good. I suppose I'll see what intel 10 nm will be like or if the prices will come down again after the huge price hike.

Basically clock speeds matter more for games, as long as there are more than 4 cores. And it's pretty much clear that Ry5000 series/Zen 3 has a massively better design, which helps it gain better performance "Instructions Per Cycle/IPC" even in a way lower clock speed than what's possible for Intel's 5+GHz [lmao, Intel, catch up please]. But anyways, I would like to Compare it to Intel's upcoming lake (whatever is that, my peanut brain can't remember them).

Tho i should add that i'm not in the US hence why the price makes less sense. The reasoning is that at its pricepoint its when people usually go 1440p anyways and thats where the gap is less than at 1080p. Over here, u can almost get a 3900x for the same price, or just get a 3700x for a lot cheaper and even the former (or still?) budget king 3600 is worth considering, especially when these all go on sale now the zen 3 is here. Archiving the intel compiler effectees in a massive software purchasing campaign, then, a return of the windows 10 optimization generalized drivers image. I can promise a minimum even with modern build restraints of over a full multiplier on any CPU purely in CPU cycle savings. It, to be a viable release, will have to have a maintain sequence for security, and I will also provision a step by step method to do it oneself which is already pretty much complete needing a handful of changes considering its based on a heavily extinct build that wouldnt be secure, nor would it allow the use of modern nvidia hardware.

@@Austin1990 the problem is that any gains which you can theoretically get with AVX512 (vs AVX2) can be offset by droping frequencies once those instructions are used. Also, if you're serious about machine learning tasks, you'll need a GPU anyway.

Linus said that IF Intel boost a ~18% ipc Performance on a 8 core top of the line processor, without a drop in frequency, we may end up in status quo again (Intel better in gaming, amd in everything else). We as users get the best possibile experience when the companies fight against each other in every field. And since we are gamers and those CPUs are mainly made for us (especially till the ~400 range), the best possibile scenario for us is when Intel and AMD fight back to each other. So AMD releases better processors than Intel, and Intel releases better processors than Intel a few months later.

I had such a horror-story when I was a kid with amd K6 and then whichever was a slot-mount, K7/Athlon(?) for years when I couldn't afford anything close to a 'good' pc, that I swore never to buy an AMD again... And then I got an intel i7 3770k with an actual air-gap under the IHS and didn't realise until it was too late to swap. And I STILL got an i5 10th gen this summer... At the time, it was sort of 'better' for games, I told myself. But these numbers on the new AMD chips... they're not just competitive, they're incredible. I'll pretend I don't want to be an early adopter rather than that I can't afford to switch up, but I think in future I'll bury the hatchet and go AMD.

Not that they can't catch up but just finally AMD has the upper lead in performance this time. Also since this 5600X is rated 65W by AMD I wonder just how cut down would the regular 5600 be, if it turns out there are going to be no 5600, then, I guess Imma snag for 5600X some time later, not sure as well if SAM is going to be in my consideration tho prolly just going to hunt for used GTX 1070 and a X470 motherboard

You didn't settle, at all. 5600X is a smart grab. AM5 is around the corner in a couple of years and with this chip you'll be able to ride out that AM5 launch and upgrade after stock settles on AM5 chips and motherboards. This here convinced me to switch to AMD. I was going to buy a i7-10700K because it seemed to be the best balanced option for my future build but i still have some time to wait for new PC parts to come out and seeing the R5 5600X outperform the i7-10700K in almost EVERY single chart is just perfect. It also seems to be cheaper which makes it even more perfect since i have a very limited and uncertain budged. Thank you!

In your position I would spend some more to get an 8 cores 16 threads cpu, just to avoid any problems in late-gen games that may not be very optimized for core/thread counts lower than consoles or some heavy games. You just need to encounter one game you really like being bottlenecked in your cpu to wish having spent more in the cpu.

@Earthplayer its not even a all arounder CPU like ryzen cpus (they already werent even during zen2 era), keep in mind that intel CPUs now need insane OCs to keep the things under control and have the same level of performance, expensive motherboards (z mobos hello), expensive cooling and mostly trully good for some gaming scenarios while competing vs the competitor, when it offers at literaly half of the price/power consumption (you can literally pick a gigabyte ds3h and a 5600x and slap on it (70$ on microcenter) and a 5600X and you already have something for gaming almost close to the 10900K, where you can use the cooler box and multicore performance close to the 3700X. Its not even close, Intel is finished unless you have specific use cases rn. And on intel platform you'll end up spending more anyway, as always. Not really justified at this point, at least for new builders.

Gains are so little now that it doesn't matter. The difference between 200 fps and 350 fps is negligible even with a 240hz monitor. Let's all just be happy were not on console.

I was planning to upgrade the cpu first and keep this old gem as a second pc to watch YT and run some things 24/7. And now it's the only thing keeping me entertained when the only game I can run is Rimworld. That's some years of service

@@majdsy1146 Go back further. In mid 90s, AMD was beating Intel's rear and at a better price. The 300mhz AMD systems ran circles around a 400mhz Pentium 2 from Intel. And this is from a time when clock speeds had a greater role in performance.

@@chartabona Similar story here. Was waiting for intel to release another Q6600 or 2600k bombshell ... and now it's 8 years later with them mostly churning out crap. When my i7-2600k's OC started degrading from 4.8GHz to just barely 4GHz early this year (after 8 years!), I bit the bullet and bought a 3700X + ROG Strix X470-F + 32GB Crucial Ballistix 3200. Other than the boosting behavior being utterly retarded compared to intel (taskmanager open = CPU boosting to 4.4 for no reason) it's been amazing so far. Guess I'll have to wait and see if the X470-F gets any BIOS update for Zen 3... might drop one in next year if that happens, and even if not it's still a solid platform. First AMD as a main rig since the Athlon XP 3000+ on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe :D

Amd has done what intel should have done years ago.. specially with their ageing architecture from 2014!!.. amd improved performance by more than 20% without increasing power consumption and also put single core and multi core performance on top!

TBH Intel didn't have any serious competition for so long, the only surprising thing is that when AMD started to pull ahead, Intel didn't use their massive market share lead to invest and push ahead harder, and earlier.

Kuntal Ghosh, Intel's ageing architecture from 2014 is based on Haswell from 2013. Haswell is based on Ivy Bridge from 2012. Ivy Bridge is based on Sandy Bridge from 2011. Sandy Bridge is based on Westmere from 2010. Westmere is based on Lynnfield from 2009. Lynnfield is based on Nehalem from 2008. Nehalem is based on Core from 2006. Yonah is based on Pentium M from 2003. Pentium M is based on Pentium III from 1999. Pentium III is based on Pentium II from 1997. Pentium II is based on Pentium Pro from 1995. Pentium Pro was a new architecture, built from the ground up, and wasn't based on anything. Intel hasn't successfully built a NEW architecture since 1995! (Pentium 4 and Itanium were new but they were a failure.) Why won't Intel build a new architecture? AMD built a new architecture in 2017 with very little money for R&D.

@@MarkLikesCoffee860 well that is still acceptable as there is a huge performance difference from a 4core q6600 to a 4 core i3 at 3ghz... But anything after haswell has really not improved. I bet my fathers 4770 will be at same performance with a 10900k if u down clock the ram to (or set the ddr4 to 2400mhz single channel on i9 & ddr3 to 1600mhz on dual channel on 4770) . And set the i9 to 4core and set the click to 3.9ghz to match the 4770😂 and it will turn out to be right at same performance .

AMD just made some godly cpus but what I see is only a 5% better gaming performance over intel. Intel will get at least 10 % ipc gain on 11th gen so i guess they will be back on top by about 5% on an 6 year outdated 14 mm ++++++++++++. If intel is intelligent,they will start a price war. Just so you know I’m on an 3900x system. As much as people praise amd now they only just catch up intel 6 years old 14 mm tech .

I would be curious to see if enabling "Game Mode" in Ryzen Master would bring the 5900X and 5950X back above 5600X in some of those tests, since it would in effect disable one of the CCDs, making them essentially a 5600X/5800X but with a higher boost rating.

Game mode is actually only to be used in Threadripper series CPU's. In the normal Ryzen lineup, it will degrade performance, or that's the results we get.

I'm not American so don't have a horse in the race but even from Europe it's clear that something fraudulent is happening. There's some compelling footage out there which raises some eyebrows for sure. There doesn't seem to be much regulation or control as to where the "ballots" are coming from, and cars/vans turning up in the middle of the night filled with mail in ballots seems highly suspicious. It's a pity because the American citizens are the ones that lose in the long run. Peace mate.

No even it's direct competition, seeing the prices it would be 5800x or 5900x.

@@tony001212 He's not talking about price, but gaming performance. If you're just gaming, why would you spend almost twice as much on 5800x/5900x? And even then the difference in gaming will be minimal against 5600x.

even in photoshop and productivity workloads it's very close that it's pretty much irrelevent to get intel for the price and consumption diff

Really feels like AMD's current day equivalent of Sandy Bridge! Happy to see AMD's success, but also hoping Intel doesn't slump as hard as AMD did previously. Both sides remaining competitive would be a great win for us consumers
