The only things that were new apart from their designs was their voices and involvement in the plot alongside Sektor getting more screen time but that’s basically it but aside from that I agree that it was a crime to leave them unplayable alongside Ermac.

Hate to say it but it really was the cyborg ninjas that got me into MK. I was really obsessed with sci-fi and my first MK was 3, so seeing these robots amidst all these humans and demons got me intrigued, especially since one of the three was a hidden character. So Cyrax was my first MK character. Ironically among the three, Sektor was the one I cared for the least at the time.

Based on MK1's story they make it clear that keepers of time can't simply just erase people. Just try and influence their lives and history. She was hoping a timeline would eventually destroy the alliance of Raiden and Liu Kang completely
