I didn't have enough time to go on a tangent, but I should mention that the developers already seem to be aware of this issue, since they have been cutting characters here and there, ever since after Lost Song came out. Seven, Rain and Sumeragi where nowhere to be seen at the release of HR, the latter didnt even get an appearance after 3 paid and 1 free DLC, none of the HR characters were present in AWvsSAO, and Seven, Tia, Zero and Kizmel have been missing in Fatal Bullet. The cast is at a point where the devs can't even manage to shoehorn certain characters into the games, which tells enough of a story on it's own.

This is actually a really good solution to a problem I myself have noticed as well but, to be honest I couldn't really figure out how to solve. Also, thank you for bringing arguments to SAO that are genuine criticism and not just someone going on a rant about how SAO sucks and all that. Once again i'm impressed with your way of think towards this particular problem and I hope you keep up the good work in future videos :]

Thank you man! As I said, videos in the near future wont be focusing that much on criticism, unless the Fatal Bullet DLC's bring major points that require their own videos, but chances are, in the long term, I will step into the main series and look from these angles once again. As I say in every opportunity I have, I really do want to have a positive effect on the KZbinr community in general and with all the mindless bashing of SAO from big channels who are just trying to clickbait and ride the hatetrain, I hope to become the beacon of reason and actual critical thinking, spark actual discussions that leads people to think for themselves, rather than adopt opinions of internet personalities. Maybe one day, one can hope!

Fantastic video, and a wonderful solution. Characters getting quality time to theirselves is definitely a better way to go. I feel like this is a problem with the entire SAO series really: creating characters just to throw them away until Reki thinks they've been gone for too long. Liz and Silica deserve more than half a novel's worth of development each, and we never hear from the likes of characters like Sakura and Alicia Rue. I'm scared of what will happen to most of the Alicization cast once the next arc begins. It's almost like Reki is a great creator but poor developer. One of the few things I hate about SAO.

I don't believe "throwaway" characters are really an issue. Like, Sakuya and Alicia Rue as you mentioned, are just characters to exist in the universe, they really have no purpose in the grand scheme of things and they serve one purpose in an arc and that purpose only. A series always needs throwaway characters to fill the universe with, otherwise the world becomes too lonely. I also never mentioned "Throwaway" characters in this video, because in my opinion, there is a significant difference between a proper side character, and a throwaway character. Sure, maybe Silica and Liz were also created as one-off characters initially for their specific side stories, but they were evolved into proper side characters in future arcs, even having their shining moments from time to time. But of course, you can pace things in a much better manner on a TV/Movie series, since it becomes too obvious, if you overcrowd the screen. In a VN style medium like SAO Gameverse though, it's very easy to slip into these circumstances, without realizing it. As I said in the video, they are aware the cast is too crowded, so Seven is constantly axed in every game, Tia and Kizmel are not returning etc. But they just dont realize that currently, their main campaigns are just becoming character soups.

Integral Factor already does what I recommended in this video. Every single Floor has its contained storyline, focusing on 1-2 characters at most, with the Floor Boss bringing the frontliners together as an event. Integral Factor does not convolute the story with useless characters, despite having all characters exist in the world, doing their own thing, without being shoehorned into the story.

Very Impressive I wonder what happen to Philia, Strea, Rain, Seven, Premiere, and some other characters in Anime Series Some other characters are Non-Canon, light novel, and Gameverse if you know what I mean, and stop saying stupid concent, it's rude 16:04

For all intents and purposes, Philia, Strea, Rain, Seven, Premiere and others do not even exist in the main canon. I am not sure what you are referring to though when you say "stop saying stupid concent". Based on the previous videos, I assume you have a problem with me referring to AWvsSAO as "Non-canon", but that is the case. It is just not a part of the Gameverse timeline, it is only a standalone game, much like the Versus novels, where Kirito and Silver Crow fight each other.

Haha, love your content turk, you make some great points, good video as always :D however you really shouldnt have called out the "big youtubers" as factually wrong, in each of those videos you have tons of proof of what they are saying, the fact that you interpret it in a different way, doesnt mean they are factually wrong, even if your interpretation is how the artist meant it, since it was portrayed so poorly as to confuse magnitude of other people. Also they are not hate trains, at this point most of even fans of sao have this hate/love relationship with the series, including me, its silly and often stupid, but its just fun :D

Thank you for the kind words! Though, I have to disagree. Let me ask you this. If I said "Voldemort has actually another Horcrux and didn't die" and claim certain gestures in the last movie to point this out? Of course you'd say I'm delusional, because that is not the case and my claim would just be a headcanon, because I myself wanted to interpret things differently than they are. Sure, SAO leaves a lot of open threads and there, you can speculate all you want, some never answered, some answered in the currently not-adapted LN's. What happened to Argo after SAO? What happened to Laughing Coffin' after SAO? These are questions that have no factual answers. But interpreting that "Everybody loves Kirito romantically" is an absurd claim, when even the anime makes it very clear that is not the case. One day, I can just go through the individual videos of said "Big KZbinrs" and point by point debunk all of their headcanon, with the answers specifically provided in the anime version. But going against huge KZbinrs with their dedicated fanbases who don't even listen to my arguments and just dislike, drop comments like "SAO sux!!1!!1!!" and promptly leave, is not something I can afford at my current size. Both from a business standpoint, as well as a community standpoint, since I'm trying to grow a community here, who can think for themselves and are understanding of each others' different opinions. Drawing a huge toxic fanbase over here, is the last thing I want.

You made a strong points about how SAO's Gameverse plots rarely focus on some main and supporting cast and some important things about how some games did not focus on their character's development,but to be frank,i do not care about those things at all. Even if one of my favorite SAO or Gameverse characters had like only 10-20 sentence and whatever,i can still have their side stories and bed scenes. SAO video games do have some flaws in plot,but to me,it's not really groundbreaking or a big deal. In order to protect my favorite anime series which are hated and stupidly criticized like SAO,i gone to depths of obscurity to find worst possible anime and i found 10 of them and watched them and believe me,they do not same have flaws and other problems like SAO anime and video game series. in my opinion,SAO anime,video games and light novel series have F tier problems,the kinds of flaws that are not really ruining enjoyment and can be overlooked. I am sick of three things regarding SAO's hate and criticism: 1.My favorite characters being hated,mocked and ridiculed because of stupid and trivial reasons. 2.Being called 'harem anime' while it's nothing like High School DxD or Trinity Seven 3.Being called 'worst anime' while is nothing compared to REAL worst anime i watched such as Mars Of Destruction,Pupa,Wounded Man,Skelter Heaven,Garzey's Wings,Psychic Wars,Hanoka,Dark Cat,Vampire Holmes and Generation of Chaos! If flaws that SAO have were such a big deal,it's would never be successful and it's would fade into obscurity.

Keep in mind that the problem I stated above, may affect your favourite characters negatively as well. This was one of the videos I did with Accel World vs SAO and Fatal Bullet in mind, where it actively affected some of my favourite characters negatively. There was so many different characters that the story writers tried to shoehorn in, that none of the characters were "characters" anymore, simply because there was not enough screentime to reliably showcase 3 dozen characters. This resulted in one of my favourites, Kuroyukihime, be relegated to "flat chested" jokes. Leafa to Big Boobed jokes. Silica to "turned upsite down panty shot" jokes. Focusing on too many characters, by basic logic, requires that you spend less time on each. To have some sort of an impact, this results in characters becoming one dimensional traits. Ever since Hollow Fragment, there is no personality attached to Philia for example, she is just "the treasure hunter". Lisbeth is "the blacksmith". Klein is the "horny comedic relief". There is so much more to these characters and watching them get downgraded to single traits as their "personality" is absolutely an issue that takes away from the enjoyment. Because that is when SAO is at its best. With its characters. Side characters do not need to be shoehorned into a story, when there is an entire post-campaign, where there are tons of side stories that can explore these characters. Instead, the main story can focus on its own narrative, like the Hollow Area storyline, where it is all about Philia's self doubts and the PoH storyline.

Yo creo que se debería apartar a los personajes con menos peso narrativo para sidequest y que no formen parte del grupo. Es un poco cruel, pero al menos permites que el jugador tenga más facilidad para elegir sus personajes favoritos sin preocuparse de levelear a los menos importantes. Yo dejaría fuera a Silica, Seven y Philia. Silica, porque desde el primer juego no destaca en nada más que el fanservice y en sus sentimientos hacia Kirito. Seven, porque con FB nos dejaron claro que ella no tenía tiempo para involucrarse en otros juegos. Y finalmente, Philia, porque, por desgracia, tras el final de Hollow Fragment, fue absorbida dentro del grupo de Kirito, y no tuvo más tiempo para ella. Aunque se agradece detalles como cuando apoyó a Leafa en Hollow Realization. Sorry for speak in spanish, but my english is weak

In the series they should kill characters off if they aren't needed that's what I think should happen, Klein, Silica, Agil etc not even needed anymore and they never get any character development they are wastes of space
