Zack you are WRONG about Worshippers of Cthulu - DEVELOPERS are Crazy Goat Games and PUBLISHER is Crytivo so you can't throw that under a rock same as was The Universim development time which actually was developed BY CRYTIVO and published by CRYTIVO which led to long development..... different dev team = different time game is cooking in Early Access. Just FYI.
@GamerZakh19 күн бұрын
@@WojDestroyer I'm not wrong about who is what, I literally write on the screen the developers for the main list games so I do check, and say that it's published by Crytivo. I know how publishers work, they influence development a lot. I've been making these list videos for over a decade, you know I've looked a lot into these things in that time, right? Mainly, I'm taking the developers at their word. They say, "We plan to be in Early Access for about a year but we cannot be sure here!" Even the devs aren't confident and can't commit to the 1-year timeline because they're not sure themselves. If they had a bit more confidence, so would I. If you want me to have more confidence on the 1-year estimate, go tell the devs to be more confident.

And when a game comes along where we can build a city, then integrate other games within it (for example, like a GTA style add on, or a car racing add on that you can play within the city you have built!), wow that will blow my mind

The notion that Cities Skylines 1 was good when it launched is bit too generous. Yes, it worked but the base-game isn't that good. It's too easy and it looks childish. I think people forget that because we all mod it extensively, thereby making it into a good game. They also made it easier for themselves by using a lot of stuff from Cities in motion. Lastly, it was compared to Simcity V which is an awful game and still a huge disappointment (and to some extent CIties XL, which doesn't work especially well but is otherfine quite good).

Even without mods, or even the expansion DLCs, the base game was updated quite a bit to be a lot better than it was on release. And at release it actually Was pretty good. Not the greatest ever (lots of room for improvement) and definitely benefiting from the lack of compitent competition at the time, but still pretty good. Edit: mind you, the Paradox launcher getting shoved into it was the final straw on me buying anything associated with the company, so...

I've seen an independent developer make a spiritual succesor to The Settlers that looked even more an actual sequel than Pioneers of Pagonia, in particular The Settlers 3. The ones I tried: Frostpunk 2: very well made game, but I just wanted to fight in the frozen wasteland for survive and not to manage a society. I liked the first one better, simply because of the concept. Pioneers: there is a LOT to mine, harvest, forge, etc. I mean like a houndred different things, but not all of the essential. The design is fantastic, but the game can be a little bit frustrating. Less would have been more. Fabledom: I like it and agree everything Zakh said. Laysara: gets pretty boring quickly, it is more of a puzzle then a city builder, but looks pretty nice. Against the storm: best game from the list, hands down.

CS2 still has less players than the original on daily basis [by over 3k].
@GamerZakh19 күн бұрын
That's true of every Civilization release since Civ 4. Civ 5 took 2 years to overtake Civ 4. Civ 6 took 2 years to overtake Civ 5. CS2 has only been out for 1 year at this point. Plus by over 3K depends on the timing. Yesterday, at one point CS2 had 6.8K players while CS1 had 7.8K. Not that big a gap really but of course it fluctuates. Most games with 50% rating on Steam are dead. The fact that it can still regularly hit 10K concurrent on Steam is pretty crazy considering that rating. Everyone is just looking at things short term. I've been doing this for over a decade. I listed NMS through its release, 'death', and rise. Paradox cancelled Life By You and consolidated around CS2, come back in a year and judge it again then.

21:50 I mean, you can defend it. But it already failed. It released in an unacceptable state. And yes, I treat all games like that. It is an unacceptable practice. Even Early Access is already a questionable practice, but at least there it does say what it is. Also Cities Skylines has more concurrent players than its sequel. Though I do wonder whether they have finally fixed the performance.
@GamerZakh19 күн бұрын
Thing is I'm not defending it, I'm just saying what is happening. 10K concurrent players puts it pretty high on Steam charts and it's got almost as many players as CS1. CS1 still has more but it's close, and that would be true of every Civ release too. Civ 6 took 2 years to overtake Civ 5. Civ 5 took 2 years to overtake Civ 4. CS2 has only been out for 1 year at this point and yesterday it was about 6,800 playing CS2 and 7,800 playing CS1, like it's not a big gap. You can say it failed, but it's like continuing to say NMS failed. And yeah I agree that early access is always better. Just because a game is 'released' doesn't mean it's not 'early access'. NMS, Cyberpunk 2077, those were early access games but weren't honest about it.
@susangoaway19 күн бұрын
@@GamerZakh NMS did fail as well. CP77 was even worse. And released does mean that the game is finished and considered 'good enough' to provide an experience that fullfills the expectations that it has made. The 1.0 version should include everything that was supposed to be included. I can see an excuse being made for early access, as I've written. But when the game is sold as a full and released game, then it should be treated that way, the actual state does not matter. You do not see a restaurant giving you ingredients for the meal you have ordered either and tell you to come back tomorrow if you want it to have it cooked. It is a huge problem that this kind of practice has been normalized to such an extent, similarly as to microtransactions, paid mods and cutting games up into DLCs. Call it old-fashioned, but it is how things should be and how they should be treated. When it comes to playerocunt, I have mentioned it because CS2 was simply a desaster with lots of missing features and absolutely abysmal performance. And there isn't much you can do wrong in a citybuilder, in fact CS2 did do a lot of extremely good things. But the alpha status release ruined it. The opportunistic release of CS that exploited the absolute failure that was SC5 probably made them think it would be okay to develop it in a similar way. I've been cirtical of the first one as well, considering it didn't even have tunnels.

@@susangoaway Yeah, so what this means is by what you call 'failed' can include some of the most financially successful, highly rated, most popular, most played games ever. That's fine, it's just we should be clear on what your criteria for success and failure is because when other people read it they can get confused. My criteria is different, I'm sure you can understand that. The reason why I say a game releasing doesn't mean it's not 'early access' is because that's a warning. SO many people argue that 'early access' shouldn't exist, but they forget that it exists whether there's a label for it or not. It's a warning to people who blindly trust 'released' and think they'll always get a good game if it's 'released'. I never said to not judge a 'released' game as 'released'. Sometimes you get Baldur's Gate 3 with early access, which is required to avoid publisher interference. Other times you get Cities Skylines 2 rushed out by the publisher while it's still in an early access state but they want to mislead and label it 'released' instead. My point is that there are good games and bad games, regardless of how they're labelled and that we shouldn't just trust labels or the lack of them.

@@GamerZakh It can, yes. And I can. My main point in this is just that many people are too tolerant of unfinished games. Ever since online platforms have become more popular this problem has been intensifying. I had a hunch that you might mean that, though was not sure. It is good practice nowadays to not buy games before trying them, and especially when they were just released, especially again, by tripleA studios, and even smaller ones too. People should certainly expect to get a good game on release. This expectation should be kept up and those who cannot fullfill that should not be excused for it. Even if they were to fix it later on. Yes, there are games of different quality. Though what's most worrying nowadays is how suddenly games can change, where they do not resemble the product you've actually bought anymore, despite being released. And I am not talking about better or worse, just different, which is also a bad practice. One big example that comes to my mind in regards to this is minecraft actually... which incidentally was one of the largest 'early access' games as well. But that's a whole another can of worms. But well, people should be disappointed, outraged and angry if they buy a game that promised something, but doesn't fullfill these promises at release, at its official full version. In the end it is still the customer's job to get the information required for the decision they make.
