I think it is worth mentioning that Dark Samus's green color disguises the super missile, and the purple color disguises the normal missile. Unless the opponent is paying close attention, the "telegraph" frames where the missile pokes out of the end of the arm cannon are less obvious. Samus always has a green arm canon.

I don’t think these small differences add up to dark samus feeling like anything more than a straight up clone. I wish Dark samus would have at least gotten 1 distinct special move.

The fire thing is also true for the Belmonts. Simon has fire holy water while richter doesn’t, so it makes a big difference against Link and Olimar

@@mr-shooter7728 With Simon, it’s fire, with Richter, it just looks like fire but the game doesn’t interpret it as fire. It matters because some characters have things that interact differently with fire. For example, Olimar’s red Pikmin are immune to fire, so Simon’s won’t destroy red Pikmin but Richter’s will. Also, Link’s bombs detonate when hit by fire, so Simon can force them to detonate (which can create a wall that bombs can’t pass through or can force bombs to detonate in Link’s hand) while Richter’s won’t do that I might be missing a unique interaction or two, but it doesn’t matter for most matchups

They didn’t really use the correct image of dark samus/Samus double jumping. Dark Samus literally does a spider man pose mid air and like doubles it’s hurt box size basically lol. As a Samus main, my advice is to play regular Samus if you plan to be in the air a lot and dark Samus if you plan to stay more grounded. Just my 2 cents

During her final smash Samus has backburners wich can slightly hurt opponents. Dark Samus doesn't have these. So technically Samus is worse beacuse the backburners can potentially push opponents away from the main laser. And for those who somehow don't know what her final smash is, it's a massive laser that crosses the entire stage and kills at like 30%

Samus is better against wario, and worse against characters with moves that get affected by fire like links bomb. Otherwise all the other matchups are the same for both chars. If you are maybe not as skilled and do a lot of rolls, probably stick to dark samus for the better roll frame data. Otherwise they are the same char.

The part about electric vs flame effect isn't really accurate. The video that's playing is completely misleading, there is actually no difference on shield at all. The real difference is that electric moves incur 1.5x more hitlag (the freeze frame when a move is hit) meaning that in case of a hit both players have more time to react. The Samus player to plan their followup, the opponent to DI properly. This does NOT mean more hitstun (how long the opponent cannot act after being hit), although this was the case in Sm4sh. Flame effects also detonate explosives as mentioned and electric and flame effect moves don't affect yellow and red pikmin respectively.
