Ra and 7 Wonders have the similar issue of so much end game scoring, which affects your round decisions but is hard to internalize until you see the end scoring.

Coup has always been a success with my friends. Twice, I have had my friends jump onto Amazon, while we were still playing, to order their own copy. :)

These are among my favorite videos that you do because I love hearing experiences about introducing non-gamers to new games and as an ex theatre rat it gives me nostalgic vibes of backstage life. Very surprised with the #1 hit - I played it this spring and thought it was fine but 🤷♂️ Still loved that it was so unexpected. Oh and you’re totally right that original Sheriff’s art is far superior. 👌

I'm surprised that Ra can ever miss tbh. I think the first round or two I didn't get it, and then after every turn I realized a new thing about the decisions I was making and how it would affect the game state. I guess it is really about that precision bidding, but man that game shivers my timbers. And I'm kind of equally surprised that The Hunger was a hit previously. I like the game and the expansion, but it feels a little fiddly and maybe I just don't know how to teach that game. Anywho, dope video. Interesting to see what games hit with people who aren't weirdly obsessed with cardboard

You know Chris is on his deathbed when he doesn't make the Allplay joke! Hunger has been on my buy-list since you first talked about it, I'm holding out on a second-hand copy or a great retail deal

@@Carlos52024 one of my best deals, grabbed it for 10 bucks at kublacon! Was worth it for the space I had to arrange around it to take it home haha

Charcuterie and Neotopia sounds interesting. Will like to check them out! I would have loved to play Castles of Mad King Ludwig and RA as those are some of my favorite games as well. Sorry they were not a hit this time around. As boardgamers I think we can get illusions of grandeur that people will enjoy the games we do. I try to temper my expectations a bit if bringing games to new players. :)

Wow. 🤯 I can’t believe 7 wonders fits completely in that little box. I feel a box cutting coming in the near year!

@@Poiuytrew.Q it's a game changer. Honestly worth getting the expansion just for that haha

The goto first game for new people or just to kick things off is Kingdomino for me. It's simple to teach, fast and compact. 2-4 players. Sure it can get old if overplayed, but so far it's been perfect.

Would love to hear what games you all play as your intro game(s) or date night game?

Love this video idea / hearing anecdotes like this! Unfortunately for me Wavelength keeps failing... people keep talking 5+ minutes to think of what to say and the game devolves into general chatter. It has succeeded with family in the past, but not non-family once.

I'll have to give RA another shot; I played it once and felt exactly the way you described some people found it - both overwhelming and underwhelming
