Always love and appreciate how brutally honest you are on the games you play and finish, Femtrooper. As much as I loved Nirvana Initiative, I do feel that the story of the first game is very hard to top especially the plot twist and antagonist so I agree with you that I prefer the first one.

Thanks so much!!! And yeah, even though the sequel was great it’s just so hard to top that first game!

24:55 oh my god yes, not only was it stupid that they stopped story progression until you do a certain amount of sidequests, BUT THEY DO THAT TWICE and the story reason for the 2nd time was stupid it was something like "I'll be waiting for you in the final boss area" "hey Lora, shouldn't we go after him?" "....nah" it frankly killed the game for me and I am so baffled seeing people call this the best xenoblade game
@femtrooper Жыл бұрын
100%. I have no idea how Xenoblade fans give it such high praise.

Another excellent video. Femtrooper, you have a great on-screen personal, but what elevates your content to S-tier is the honesty of your analysis. Many KZbinrs these days seem reluctant to give even an air of criticism of games they’ve played for fear of getting on the wrong side of publishers. You keep it real!
@femtrooper Жыл бұрын
I think honesty is the best policy! I don’t mind telling everyone that I didn’t like something that is popular - it just comes down to taste and preference and maybe I helped someone! :)

i'm so glad to see someone else who enjoyed pokemon brilliant diamond! i had such a great time playing through the game again and was surprised to see how much it's disliked online LOVE triangle strategy!! i still need to play through the rest of the routes but i also really enjoyed this one (and sucked at it too 😂) i really loved this video, so many great games on this list and such an impressive number of games!!

Thanks for watching! Brilliant Diamond is wonderful so I’m glad you liked it too! Definitely a good year for me for games so I’m trying to do the same this year!
@TheLegendofLeo Жыл бұрын
100%. I finished Brilliant Diamond around Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. The animations were great and the music delivered. My only major gripe was how often your character would bump into corners that stuck out. I wonder if you’d enjoy Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee as well. Battling is the same, but catching is completely different. I think that they’re phenomenal remakes and maybe my favourite way to replay gen 1. If you’re interested, I think I give them some love in “My Top 8 Underrated Games”.

For Xenoblade you made the right decision playing 2 before getting to 3. You can definitely play the first two in any order, but 3 really needs you to have played both the original and 2 for its story. Surprised you didn't like Torna since most people seem to like that it's a more concise Xenoblade experience, like 30 hours instead of 130. But the side quest thing makes sense, it really forces you to do a bunch of busy work to be allowed to continue.

I'm late, but great overview!! You got through a lot of games last year which is very inspiring! 13 Sentinels I thought was really well done, but you're right it's not as mind blowing as some people have led to believe. But I really appreciated how Vanillaware presented the story and wove in the real time strategy. I couldn't finish Pokemon Arceus, got burned out way too quickly 😅 And it's too bad Digimon Survive didn't work for you! I'm trying to play most of my VNs (especially VN hybrids) in my backlog this year so I'm hoping to get to it and see how it goes haha. I thought the hype for XC2 Torna was a bit overblown as well. While I enjoyed the story and characters how the side quests and story progression was handled was a bit of a let down. I do tend to complete all side quests in JRPGs however these earlier Xenoblade games do have a lot of lame side quest content (and it wasn't great how they forced you to complete so many in XC2 & Torna). But I think you'll really enjoy how they improved upon this feature in XC3. The side content was really one of the major highlights in my playthrough :) Ahh I really need to start Yakuza Like a Dragon, Sakura Wars, and Stray! It's just been difficult for me to play games on the PS4 these days (handheld gaming is just so much more convenient for me lol). I guess I need to either change my current setup or push myself to get back into PlayStation/tv console gaming 😅
@femtrooper Жыл бұрын
I could not agree more with the handheld thing! My PS5 backlog is GROWING and I really need to get to some of those! I just play handheld so much faster and now that I play Switch while I’m on the treadmill it’s just so hard for me to play PS5. Gotta commit I guess!!! So many amazing games I need to get to!!! I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on Digimon Survive when you get to it!

Woo hoo!! Congrats on the 20 beats, Paige! A great variety of games as well. 2 standouts from your list that I really need to play are 13 Sentinels and Yakuza Like a Dragon. I've never played a Yakuza game before, so I'm either going to start with Zero or Like a Dragon (b/c I think it's a different character/story than the other games). Great video, though, I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts about each game, and your refreshing honesty about games you didn't enjoy 🙂 Also really happy you played and enjoyed Pac-Man World Repac as much as you did! Such a great plaformer!!
@femtrooper Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Rusty!!! My vote is to play Yakuza 0 first because while Like a Dragon is standalone, it still has a lot of fan service to the original series in it and it will be more fun if you’ve at least played a couple or even just 0. Both are incredible games so definitely venture into that series!!! Pac-Man World Re-Pac was actually solid! A nice little surprise!

Great video, congrats on beating so many games, and good job on singular takes when recording! It’s nice to hear a different opinion about 13 Sentinels, because I’ve only heard praise from people who are pigeon-holes in JRPGs. You seem to have broader tastes, so maybe they’re more in line with my own. Hopefully you’ll set a new record for games beaten this year too 🥳

Have you tried Souls games? I wrote them off as being to hard and stressy before, but I caved on Bloodborne and never looked back. Souls games have given me the same level of engagement that old games used to give me and if you haven’t given them a try, then I recommend you do. Elden Ring is taking too long, I’m at 135 hours and still not finished it, but I have enjoyed it. My favourites were Bloodborne and Darksouls 1. Continuing trying to complete Elden Ring right now

What was the otome game you lasted before Code R that you liked? I've started a few visual novels (Steins gate, House of Fata Morgana, etc) and they're so slow (just the text display, or the 'next page' time) I get really impatient. Am I doing VNs wrong? And hell yes on Like a Dragon.
@femtrooper Жыл бұрын
7sScarlet - really enjoyed it! I also like VNs with a gameplay / more interaction. I guess maybe you’d call them more point and click games but something like an AI; The Somnium Files or Danganronpa. Straight VNs can be a bit challenging so I get it!
@midgetsparkle Жыл бұрын
@@femtrooper I have both AI Somnium games, I've started the first one, maybe I'll go back gone it another go. I think it's the 'anime' parts I don't love, so many wasted screens with no/little text.... Example: "Joe.... * Press X " I.... " Press X *character clenches fist * Press X "... " Press X " You" Press X "you can't..." AND SO ON... and when every screen transition takes a second, and you have to wait another second for the Press X to show up so you can move on.... I get bored. But I'll check out 7s Scarletts reviews. Thanks!

Pokemon is such a strange series. There is no "correct" way to make a Pokemon game. No matter what direction you go, half the fanbase is going to hate it. You're probably the only KZbinr I watch that admitted to liking Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl, but then a minute later you go on to describe how much you hated Legends Arceus and that you "don't like catching Pokemon". It's honestly mind-boggling that a person could play both of those games and come away thinking BDSP was the better product, but alas, different strokes for different folks I guess. Quality of life features, bugs, and abandoned mechanics aside, it's honestly a complete mystery what direction the series "should" take going forward. The BDSP route would alienate all the fans who have been patiently waiting for more from the franchise, while the PLA route would apparently alienate casual players. There doesn't seem to be a right answer. I'd be interesting to see what your (Femtrooper) opinion of Scarlet/Violet is after you play it, assuming you allow yourself to. EDIT: Totally agree about Kirby btw. Such an incredible game that I did not expect to be that good.
@femtrooper Жыл бұрын
Haha, my Pokémon Violet review is coming out soon…you may not like it lol since I’m not a huge fan of it either. It had good moments but overall it’s not my style of Pokémon game and I try and explain myself so stay tuned for that! The beauty of games is that everyone likes different stuff and there is no right answer! :)
