Pete, if you just happen to be in the area, Den Den Town in Osaka has some excellent gaming stores, especially retro ones. The closest stop to the stores is Ebisucho, if memory serves me.

Well, no matter how much time and energy you have, you simply have to get to Akihabara and check out some of the game stores, especially the second hand ones. You can find titles that are old, rare and horribly expensive in the West for like 500 yen. Also make sure you visit the Square-Enix store for some collectibles.

If you're mostly in Tokyo or the bigger cities, wi-fi is WAAAAAY better than it's in the West. They usually have complete coverage everywhere except rural villages.

The skills and crafting system in Tomb Raider is quite redundant, sadly. You get so many "salvages" that you will always have enough materials to upgrade every weapon every time you get the chance to do so.

Ya know everytime I see your collection I think there is no way you can fully enjoy all those games. I had a collection myself at one point, It was just too overwhelming so I went digital. Have fun in Japan though always wanted to go myself.

Soul sacrifice is so good! Currently playing it for 120 hours! Lots of spells and builds to try. Etrian Odyssey got me hooked too! Btw great video! :)

if you go to Tokyo you should visit a store in Akihabara called Super Potato. its a huge retro game store with probably every game ever created up until ps2. . Akihabara is a district in Tokyo that's centered around electronics and gaming ;) just search for Super Potato on google or youtube. Ive been there lotsa times

While I do believe that there is more to Japan that just games, suggesting to Pete that he should not spend his time doing any gaming related activities would be placing one's own interests on him. He can visit landmarks, try the cusine and emerge himself in the culture as well as go game hunting. He obviously has a passion for games so let him enjoy his time as he sees fit.

Japan, you're in for a MAJOR culture clash, Pete! I was there a couple years ago for 3 weeks, it was like going to another world. And you feel like the alien. Schoolgirls stare at you for being foreign, certain shops flat our refuse to give you service (no gaijin the owner said and shook his head violently)..then there's the fun geek stuff of course. Arcade halls chock full of people all day long, akihabara..once you travel outside Tokyo ppl don't know any english at all.

I'm not sure what it's like now, but Fire Emblem Awakening was incredibly difficult to find a physical copy of when it first came out due to Nintendo's shipping delays & unanticipated positive response from American gamers. Tomb Raider was ok, I watched a stream of it. The plot had some weird excuses for making the game drag on longer. Lara could've killed the villain a lot sooner than when she did. Also, hope you have fun in Japan, I'm so jelly!

Have you ever played Marvel vs Capcom 3 fate of two worlds? Great game such an arcade feel to it, it is for the xbox 360 and ps3 there also is an Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has 12 more characters. It's a fighting game but it has a 2D style to it really fun please try it.
