this actually was so close to coming out early in august, but I had some technical issues that held it up. dunno that anyone cares to know, but I have been trying out OBS instead of Shadowplay (first tested it out with remnant 2 so that I could have separate audio channels for the game, my mic, and the discord call I was in), and for some reason Premiere shits the bed whenever I try to edit footage captured in OBS. It works okay for really small files, but anything over an hour (which every single Remnant 2 file was) is impossible to scrub through. To be honest, I am still troubleshooting to see if it is a premiere problem or an OBS problem, but I eventually came up with the work around of reencoding the OBS files by exporting them through Premiere. But yeah doing that took awhile, and I had to put this on pause to finish stuff on the main channel. so yeah lol sorry.

Playing Metroid Prime without hints was like a mostly-linear Outer Wilds to me. Not sure if it was just the first-person perspective and ancient alien civilization, but combing through Tallon IV with the scan visor and picking up on environmental clues to progress gave me the same vibes as trying to find all the hidden areas and reading all the Nomai logs in OW. I greatly enjoyed the experience and I sincerely hope 2 and 3 remasters are coming out asap.

I legit went straight to Prodigal despite Sea of Stars potentially taking all of my time and found what is quite possibly my new game obsession. It's so good, and hiding a lot of interesting design ideas and some juicy world-building lore. Thanks for pointing this game out, especially with a sequel on the horizon apparently!

Don’t know if you’ve played it before but I highly recommend the FUGA games. They’ve got fun strategic turn based combat and incredibly amazing and somber stories

I haven’t played the remaster as I don’t have a Switch, but Metroid Prime is one of my top 5 games of all time. It’s nice to see that new comers are also enjoying it a lot

It's genuinely upsetting that almost no one voted for OneShot. It's one of the most emotionally affecting experiences I've had in gaming, honestly an incredible game on par with stuff like Undertale. It's a real shame it's not more well-known and appreciated. Especially since it take like 2 or so hours to finish, so it's easily playable in a single sitting.

I wish any of the Let’s Players I watch would play it. There are like maybe 3 good playthroughs of it that I’ve found, because even the ones that do play it tend to stop at the first ending for whatever reason.

I really liked Sheepo and Islets was also super charming and fun. Islets also had difficulty settings and I think I enjoyed it a bit more since I was able to play on hard and it felt better for someone who enjoys a bit more challenge. It also has a fun boss rush mode. Fully agree with you that it’s just a nice game that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Great video I really enjoy watching these every month* ;) I don't know if you take any recommendations but I recently played An Artful Escape and it was the best game I've played in awhile. Its short and has not very demanding gameplay but the story was amazing and dialogue was one of the best I've seen. Id love to see your opinion on the game if you have or haven't played it.

Tried Remnant 1 because it was free from EGS, and bounced hard from trying to treat it like Dark Souls (reliant on melee). Kept getting gunned down, even after tossing away pride and trying to shoot things. I assume it's more of the same, or is it easier to avoid/recover from damage?

I think your disclaimer, that you are not paid for the review is not worth much and a bit naive. The typical dependent relationship especially for professional reviewers is NOT by payment, but just like here, with earlier access to games. Punishing bad reviews happens by not giving access to the next game, when all other outlets can release a review before you. So it depends on self censorship, exaggerated praise by the reviewer, to not endanger future possibilities. And saying THIS also does not happen to you is harder to believe, because it goes from factual statement (not payed), to subjective effects on psychology (which science says is quite manipulatable). Still good that you state the free copy.

I disagree that it is not worth much and naive. I was not given early access to the game so I could make a review. I was given early access so I could play it with Iron Pineapple for a sponsored video he made on his channel. My ability to get the game was entirely reliant on him. I disclosed that I was not paid to be a part of it because that video has over a million views and it’s possible someone watching this may have seen that one and assumed I was paid due to it being a sponsored video. I do not think it is naive to be transparent about a situation where there could be understandable questions about if I was paid or not. To your point of me potentially self-censoring or giving exaggerated praise so that I don’t endanger my chances to get early access to future games, again, my access came through Pine, so the only way I will get early access again would be through him. Also, this review came out over a month after the game did and isn’t even a dedicated video on it. Clearly I am not chasing Remnant 2 seo or trying to compete with other outlets or KZbinrs to get the review out first. I’m not saying (and never did say) that I couldn’t possibly be influenced by getting the game for free-just that my thoughts have not been filtered by anyone else. If you think I’m filtering them myself to stay tight with the publishers/devs, I can’t stop you from thinking that, but as I pointed out, there really is no reason for me to do that.
