Wow, this saved my life! My 2011 3DS (which I had since I was 5) SD slot was damaged because of my little brother putting it in the wrong way. I thought that he broke my SD slot, and that I had to buy a whole new 3DS online, but then I decided to go on KZbin. I was frustrated that none of the videos seemed to help with my problem, until I found yours. TYSM I liked and subscribed!

I am 13. I have had this ds since year 1 or 2 (around 1st grade) and have only just found out it never worked because I had been using an sd card adapter instead of an actual sd card. I cant thank you enough. I haven't used this ds for that simple reason but I will finally be able to do so again. God bless you.

I did try my hardest to get the little metal stick upwards, but no matter how much i tried it came down a lil bit which then reads the sd card as write protected

Я безуспешно несколько дней пытался восстановить работу Nintendo 2DS, после того как ребенок вверх ногами вставил в нее карту и приставка стала писать, что карта защищена от записи. Пытался менять саму карту памяти и восстанавливать программы на ней, но ничего не помогало. После вашего видео я смог починить приставку. В моем случае помогло не загибание рычага в слоте для SD-карты, а заклейка места установки переключателя Lock на самой SD-карте (переключателя и впадины за ним) обычным односторонним скотчем.

@@Edesgera yes you just have to play with it took me a minute. I can’t remember what I did when I fixed it but I think there was a wire in the way on my 2DS so I guess I just moved it and slide the sd card and it worked

Thank you Sir for this video, it 'saved' the live of my youngest son. He put the SD card on wrong way into the slot. I moved the card out of the slot (it sticked very hard in the slot, I need a grapper to move it out) and push it in in the right way but I got the message that the SD card is write protected. I checked the slider of the card and put it also in an other 2DS, it worked perfect there. I searched on the internet and found your video ;-) I follow your instractions and now it works perfect. Short update It happened again, the 2DS showed again the message 'SD card is write protected'. I tried your method again but this time w/o success. I compared this slot with the slot of an other (working) 2DS and saw that there is a small metal tongue on the card reader case close to the metal switch of the write protection recognition. This metal tongue from the case itself was more bent up as the metal tongue from the working 2DS. I bent this a little bit down (inward to the case) and after that the write protection slider of the SD card was recognized on the right way. I assume this metal tongue is necessary to press the SD card closer to the bottom of the SD card reader case. Xross fingers that this is now the long term solution for this 'error'. ;-)

Hey I have this same exact one but I have a different problem and don’t know if there’s a way to fix it! I think somebody may have stepped on it and it won’t turn on anymore. The problem is I was way into the predownloaded game in it. I think it may just be the console that’s broken but is there a way to retrieve the game from the console and maybe transfer it to another console ? Kinda bummed that I may have lost my progress

Well if the 2DS is functional and just the screen is broken you can try replacing the screen. There’s a video tutorial on how to do that on this channel. If you don’t want to do that you could try to navigate (blindly) to do a system transfer to a different 2DS/3DS.
