I'm in a college astronomy class. The term "paralax" appeared on a test. The professor never defined it and assumed everyone knew what it was. Because of this show I was the only person to get that question right. Thanks Gamesack.

I don't know if anyone commented on Earthworm Jim 2 or if you have already beat it but the key to besting that file cabinet is to run so the papers can fly in the air and the file cabinet will open the drawer to suck in the paper. That's your chance to jump on it and jump to the platform above. Hope that makes sense.

For anyone stuck on the cabinets on EWJ2: You need to run next to them to get newspapers to fly at them, that triggers them to open their drawers to "eat" the papers, and that's how you jump on them.

I loved earthworm Jim 2. I remember the secret to the flying king level was to leave the balloon behind and go kill all the enemies. Once the enemies are all gone you can go back for the balloon.

It's so great that you upload on Sunday mornings Finland time. Your show is the PERFECT hangover-entertainment. Last night, I drank too much and made the oldest mistake in the book, mixing my alcohols. Classic. I passed out and had a dream where I heard the terrible news that Dave passed away. He died in a convention, where he piled a bunch of car tires next to his car and tried to jump them in an impressive show of athletics and acrobatics. Not sure why or how. But he died. Apparently by having a wall of car tires falling on top of him. It was a terrible dream. Glad to wake up and realize in hungover stupor that it wasn't real and curling up to enjoy the show once again.

Glad to see Legendary Axe get some love, but surprised you've never beaten it. You almost beat zone 5 which leads into a huge castle with branching paths to some 20 or so rooms. Beat Ninja Gaiden a few times, I think the difficulty is overstated a bit. Mainly you need to be willing to sit down for a while and not give up, not get frustrated.. You can always continue - master how to execute the rough spots and progress.

@tical2399
@tical2399 8 жыл бұрын
I'd say the difficulty is understated if anything. It's harder than people even admit it is. the problems is not so much how its designed bit the limitations of the nes. The respawning enemies are due to the lack of memory on the system.
@PikaLink91
@PikaLink91 8 жыл бұрын
tical2399 Right, the key is to figure out where exactly the respawn points are. That's how I always make it past the knife throwing guy on stage 6-2, I "despawn" him. When I claim that the game is "not so hard when you get good at it", it is partly because of my own low selfesteem, since I was able to beat the game, I think to myself that maybe it's not because I got good, but because the game was perhaps not as hard as I thought.

Dave, to get pass through Iso 9000 you need to walk around to make the papers flew up, then the Cabinets will try to get them by opening one of their drawers. Then you can jump on them. It's a bit tricky, but it's the way to continue on =) Just run a lil' bit to make those paper sheets to fly up, so the Cabinets try to get them.

Legendary Wings! Oh, that takes me back! I picked that up once, at a yard sale in the early 90s, along with Tiger Heli. Back then it was completely normal to just happen upon games you didn't know existed. Because not everyone had subscriptions to gaming mags, and that was really the only source of gaming knowledge outside of embarrassingly bad commercials disguised as cartoons and game shows. I love playing hard games and after much hair-pulling I've been able to finish most of the ones I've set my mind on beating. But even though I've beaten games like the Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden trilogys and even the dreaded Battletoads and Battlemaniacs there is one game I've been trying, and failing, to beat ever since I was a kid and that's The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Even with the extra power-ups earned from the training missions I've never even been able to beat the first boss in that friggin game.

Find the spot where you can hit Kabuto, where he will bounce off the wall and return to right where he was standing when you hit him. Don't give him a chance to attack. Battletoads difficulty is overstated. For one, the game is much easier on single player, which is what most people don't seem to realize going into it. Co-op is where the bad rep mostly comes from, since you end up beating the crap out of each other by accident. The hoverbike part is still somewhat hard as rumors state, but not the entire reason for the games infamous difficulty.

That's fair. I think the main thing with that game is to be aware that the longer you play it the more tenacious it gets. Like, if you don't die at all up to stage 2 and climb the tunnel section the bladed contraption move super fast and past that the bomb attacks get egregious. Success is a matter of exploiting the game's limitations. Also you can get a permanent Robo-Panther that makes things a lot simpler.

Hey Joe, I thought I would let know of a secret for Legendary Axe. The game only allows for up to 5 enemies on screen at once. For zone 5, try to get past the enemies and keep walking. If you have to kill one thats OK. Basically with 4 or 5 enemies behind you, you can progress through the first zone with little effort. They will stay at the bottom of the screen and no new enemies will appear on screen. I will try to play the game this weekend and send you a screen shot to show you how it works.

Guys in the Ninja Gaiden game, you don't need to pick up every item. Once you get the spinning sword skill, keep it. It save your life like crazy. Plus, you guys should watch a video where a player literately runs through the game with one life and beats it. He gets hit every once and a while, but you'll see it as though he wanted to get hit... to reach certain platforms to get ahead. And he doesn't hit every enemy that comes at him.

Don't mention it. That last stage is total bullshit. Like, it is divided intro three parts (VI-I, VI-II and VI-III), when you die you return to the beginning of the part you're in, but if you lose to any of the three forms of the final you're back to VI-I.

Wonderboy in Monster Land is a game I've never been able to beat. Got to the final boss many times as a child but was beaten every time. Kind of haunted me and I've went back many times over the years only to find I've gotten worse at the game and can't get that far. Guess it's time to try again

Something that I discovered playing Ninja Gaiden when I was a kid: if you've got the spinning sword power up (the best in the game, kills bosses in an instant) you can save your NP by hitting down and attack when you need to do a jumping strike, so you can use it when you really need it. Especially in 5-3, this makes beating the game a whole lot simpler.
