I don't know if anyone commented on Earthworm Jim 2 or if you have already beat it but the key to besting that file cabinet is to run so the papers can fly in the air and the file cabinet will open the drawer to suck in the paper. That's your chance to jump on it and jump to the platform above. Hope that makes sense.

For anyone stuck on the cabinets on EWJ2: You need to run next to them to get newspapers to fly at them, that triggers them to open their drawers to "eat" the papers, and that's how you jump on them.

It's so great that you upload on Sunday mornings Finland time. Your show is the PERFECT hangover-entertainment. Last night, I drank too much and made the oldest mistake in the book, mixing my alcohols. Classic. I passed out and had a dream where I heard the terrible news that Dave passed away. He died in a convention, where he piled a bunch of car tires next to his car and tried to jump them in an impressive show of athletics and acrobatics. Not sure why or how. But he died. Apparently by having a wall of car tires falling on top of him. It was a terrible dream. Glad to wake up and realize in hungover stupor that it wasn't real and curling up to enjoy the show once again.

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw The Legendary Axe was the NES version of Astyanax. I died so many times in Astyanax that the character's animations are permanently burned into my memory. The character animations between the two games are very similar (especially the crouch attack and jump), even the containers that hold the power-ups are similar. And sure enough, even though the games are from two different companies, apparently they had the same designer, Tokuhiro Takemori.

But even though I've beaten games like the Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden trilogys and even the dreaded Battletoads and Battlemaniacs there is one game I've been trying, and failing, to beat ever since I was a kid and that's The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Even with the extra power-ups earned from the training missions I've never even been able to beat the first boss in that friggin game.

Dave, to get pass through Iso 9000 you need to walk around to make the papers flew up, then the Cabinets will try to get them by opening one of their drawers. Then you can jump on them. It's a bit tricky, but it's the way to continue on =) Just run a lil' bit to make those paper sheets to fly up, so the Cabinets try to get them.

+electronash No idea where you got that idea from. The filing cabinets open up when you run back and forth, creating pages from the ground that the cabinets suck up - you can see it happening in this video. Great episode. I really like the concept. Looking forward to seeing a sequel in the future.

Battletoads difficulty is overstated. For one, the game is much easier on single player, which is what most people don't seem to realize going into it. Co-op is where the bad rep mostly comes from, since you end up beating the crap out of each other by accident. The hoverbike part is still somewhat hard as rumors state, but not the entire reason for the games infamous difficulty.

Unlimited continues in games like that is always awesome.
@PikaLink919 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say the difficulty is overstated, I mean I had a very hard time beating it the first time. But anything seems easier once you are good at it.
@tical23999 жыл бұрын
I'd say the difficulty is understated if anything. It's harder than people even admit it is. the problems is not so much how its designed bit the limitations of the nes. The respawning enemies are due to the lack of memory on the system.
@PikaLink919 жыл бұрын
tical2399 Right, the key is to figure out where exactly the respawn points are. That's how I always make it past the knife throwing guy on stage 6-2, I "despawn" him. When I claim that the game is "not so hard when you get good at it", it is partly because of my own low selfesteem, since I was able to beat the game, I think to myself that maybe it's not because I got good, but because the game was perhaps not as hard as I thought.

That's fair. I think the main thing with that game is to be aware that the longer you play it the more tenacious it gets. Like, if you don't die at all up to stage 2 and climb the tunnel section the bladed contraption move super fast and past that the bomb attacks get egregious. Success is a matter of exploiting the game's limitations. Also you can get a permanent Robo-Panther that makes things a lot simpler.

Battle Out Run on the Sega Master System. However, I did go back to it and beat it sometime in the mid-'90s. What I used to do was always buy the Nitro Boosts whenever I could, but they increase in price every time you purchased them. What I eventually did was ignore the Nitro Boosts for the first couple of stages (or at least not use them up completely), and this allowed me to actually buy the necessary car parts to tackle the later bosses.

Something that I discovered playing Ninja Gaiden when I was a kid: if you've got the spinning sword power up (the best in the game, kills bosses in an instant) you can save your NP by hitting down and attack when you need to do a jumping strike, so you can use it when you really need it. Especially in 5-3, this makes beating the game a whole lot simpler.

+Son of Tiamat (formerly known as tiakpark): Yes, the cartoon was great. However, I think part 1 was really hard, could never beat it. But Earthworm Jim 2 is really, really easy...

Salokin Sekwah Heh, we seem to be subbed to all the same channels.

applemctom You think so? I beat and master 1 with plenty of perseverance, but 2 was all over the place with its level design, and I think that lack of focus just put me off to ever beating it.

I never had a problem beating the second one, hell, I thought it was easier than the first outside of The Flying King.

Dave: "I've gotta say that beating it was enjoyable. Will I beat it again in the future? Who knows!" You can beat it as often as you like Dave White 😉

The Earthworm Jim music at 12:00 sounds exactly like the main theme from the anime 8 Man After.

Never beat Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

+UberNeuman Me neither. I beat Super Punch Out, even doing the Special Circuit. But Bald Bull always got me in Punch Out.

+UberNeuman I've finally come to accept that it's just never going to happen for me. I've beaten some ridiculously difficult games (such as Ninja Gaiden) but I can count on one hand the number of times I've even seen Round 2 with Iron Mike.

+pigs18 beat him twice when I was 7 and played it for two years. once by my self and no one believed me and another with a friend and still no one believed me. It's hands down the hardest game I ever beat but it took way to much determination to be considered fun now a days.

On Ninja Gaiden, you find your self glitching enemys off the screen in certain locations. All you have to do is walk them off the screen. For instance there is a knife thrower in level 6 that's impossible to pass. You have to start walking backwards, and slightly scroll the enemy of the screen. Walk back and he'll disappear, and stay dead. until you re-spawn um again.

Dave...do you even know how long I've trying to remember the name of Legendary Wings..thank you. Never beat Seventh Saga or Poplous for snes. Poplous because I had no idea wtf to do and still don't. BTW...ever notice how color palettes for eight bit games are the same as wedding color palettes in any wedding magazine ever?? ;-)

Also, Legendary Axe is a good pick for this list! Two years ago when I was a freshman in college, I brought a CRT and a TurboGrafx-16 to my dorm along with all of my games (about 10). I popped in Legendary Axe and tried to beat it almost every day. Those last 2 or 3 levels were ridiculous! But finally after about two weeks of persistence I was able to finish it. Great game, and great episode, guys!
