As an old school sega fan I just loved this episode. I grew up with the sms and while not as “awesome” as the nes overall it had some bangers!!!

I love the skits, but this variation was great too, a lot of funny questions plus funny answers! I loved to see so many MS I didn't know or remember from your videos, some of them sound spectacular in FM! I so wanna play them now 👾

fun fact, in Sega 3D Classics Collection on the 3DS, if you go to the extras menu and tap on the empty space on the bottom left, you unlock the master system version of Fantasy Zone, and this version has an exclusive FM soundtrack!

FM Towns kind of sounds like diet Sega Genesis to me. Also, that's not nostalgia talking. OutRun and Wonder Boy in Monster Land both legitimately have pretty weak FM Towns audio.

Far East of Eden: Kabuki Ittou Ryoudan ... really? I mean, it only has by far the smoothest animation of any fighting game, or any type of game on the system. I was blown away, another highly underrated game, this would be in my top 3 of fighting games on the system, along with Street Fighter 2 CE and Fatal Fury Special, quality and playability wise top tier stuff.

Awe man, I had to pause the video, I love Flash Hiders, one of my favorites, hah. As an anime fan I appreciate the art style and character designs heavily inspired by Battle Angel Alita, great sound design and music too. There's a full on story mode with many cut scenes that's entertaining, at times hilarious, even w/o full knowledge of Japanese, and the auto-battle is optional I do believe. Fun if simple 2 player VS with cool special moves too. The cat-girl multi hit combo, the cyborg claw slice sound, brings back fond memories of playing with friends growing up as I would import even back then. As a game I think it's underrated but I guess it not being hyped here will keep prices down for others to stumble upon what I personally think is a hidden gem.

I always considered the 3DO the best of the "bad" videogame consoles. I bought mine on a trip to Japan a few years ago, and really enjoyed the console for what it is. Also the build quality on those first gen machines were absolutely premium as well.

To me, I think the FM music is better 90% of the time, but the FM sound effects are worse 90% of the time. You didn't like Maze Hunter 3-D? I thought that was a pretty good one. Also, Shanghai FM is great!

This video made me realize how much I hate Master System PSG sound. The FM sound in most cases doesn’t come anywhere near the NES, especially music from Capcom or Konami. Phantasy Star has incredible music though. Or maybe I’m biased because it’s such an incredible game.

I uploaded a video containing a playthrough of Scramble Spirits with both PSG and FM not too long ago. If you wanna know more about how I managed to make that a reality, feel free to look into the description and the credits of the video. I had a RAD2X handy so it shouldn't look terrible. Master Systems have terrible DACs, after seeing the footage I was terrified to see the fuzz. We need to replace our DACs STAT!

I tend to disagree with your lack of enthousiam for FM Golvellius. As for me, the intro music of Golvellius in FM is simply the best music in the history of video game; and maybe in the history of mankind.

In my experience with FM vs PSG... FM has better music with some exceptions (The Ys opening in FM is absolutely beautiful) PSG has better sound effects with some exceptions (for example, PSG does better fire crackling sounds) There are a few sound effects and music that sound equally good on either sound font.

People gush about From Software games these days, but they forget that during the PS1, 2 & even the PS360 days... there was a lot of mediocre to bad FS games. I could name this game or that game, but their most egregious errors were in the Tenchu series. Wrath of Heaven and Fatal Shadows are fine games that make the PS1 ideas more playable on PS2 and Xbox, no problem there. But they created Tenchu Z, and Shadow Assault: Tenchu (the latter modeled after Tenchu Dark Secret on the DS, which they published in Japan but was a Gamestop exclusive in the US). Those games are horrible, and almost destroyed the brand. Worst part is that among some fans, Tenchu Z is starting to build this revisionist history as actually being a good game (probably from the new nostalgia around 360 games)... but it's awful. Take everything you loved from the PS2 games, don't make any improvements despite a generational console jump, make them play worse, make them look worse, remove your favorite characters, and make the story derivative and uninteresting. And Shadow Assault (not to mention it's Dark Secret influence)? Think Tecmo's Deception, but remove fun (if you had any with that series). That is not Tenchu. there's a rumor that since both From Software and Acquire are both under the same umbrella that Tenchu could return, I hope it does! The Wii game was ok, (and I never played Time of the Assassins on PSP) but honestly I'd like to see 1 & 2 remade into one big game!

My problem with FM is that in almost every game it sounds too low compared to PSG and the sound effects are louder and covers the music. I prefer PSG but there are some games with amazing FM OST, though for wonder boy 3 I am team PSG all the way

Dude, are you kidding? That upgraded machinegun sound in Double Hawk is BEEFY. Thanks for the great video! Damn shame SEGA didn't pony up for the YM2413 in every Master System. Even better if they'd have added a simple mixer so you could use the PSG and FM together from the start. That would give it sound capabilities really close to the Genesis.

I usually preferred the FM during this video. It came down to the head bob.

I modded my SMS for FM sound and definitely prefer that to PSG sounds. It's amazing how much more I enjoy playing my Master System games with FM sound now.
