Classic song. Unique sound. Peter Gabriel is a musical genius. So many great memories of hearing this on the radio when it came out. I sure wish Peter would go back to the jacket cool look he pulled off so well. Many speculated, when he first started showing up on MTV, that he'd become a movie star with his looks and style. The camera simply loved him. Sure, I know he's older and bald, etc. But still. He's not doing himself any favors with the hoodie and baggy look at all. Way too pervasive, one could almost say 'corporate' in its pervasiveness in mass media and advertising today. Ironic, since Peter was always a rebel. Sad to see him pander to that style. It's almost as if people have given up on trying to look both good and have a style of their own. Sting, another musical genius, and always very conscious of his public image, thank goodness, has not donned the hoodie look...yet.

It's a shame that after finally hearing this with the original album arrangement, they couldn't find the right keyboard sounds: And I mean I don't need to hear the original gear and synth patches, but I expect synth patches that better fulfill their role in the arrangement. I dislike this whole trend of disowning our synth heritage and saying "oh well, we can make do with an accordion for all parts". Having the original synth bass would've been AWESOME.
@martinschnelle30774 жыл бұрын
@@OnKeyboards This is different from the original in many ways. It has not the synth bass because they have a bass player. Like the rhythm ist not a drum machine like in the original. Next thing is: you assemble a band from seasoned professional players and don't care to dig up original synthg patches but telling them "play your stuff and take care of everything yourself". Don't think that Peter Gabriel pays too much attention on original synth patches.
