For me, what really counts is.... are the dice easy to read? Much prefer dice without special logos as, while most use the logo represent “6”, some use it for “1”.

You are 100% right about the quality going down. They were so much nicer in years past. I found a picture of earlier versions of the dice for Iron Warriors that I wanted to purchase. The ones available now just look like cheap crappy plastic and the emblems were all jacked up looking compared to the older ones. I bought third party because they looked so much better. For less money. These friggin people, I swear. No respect for their fans. Ending on a positive note, I purchased from the Baron of Dice on Etsy and Da Bos's Secret Stash in the UK. Great dice for Iron Warriors, particularly the Secret Stash ones. There are also some amazing dice boxes on etsy with your faction emblem 3d printed on them.

Etsy is getting brilliant with so many talented creators on there. I'm getting quite a few miniatures there now. Just checked out Da Bos's Secret Stash, what a selection!

@@tabletopskirmishgames good! I hope you find something you like. I'd definitely order from them (him) again. The emblems look like some sort of laser or cutting tool made them. Some have some faint horizontal lines inside them, but it does little to detract from how crisp and precise the etching is.

Totally understandable argument I’m a big fan of the official Shadowrun dice, for playing SR of course. They usually have nice colors but the most important part is the symbol for fails (instead of the 1) and a different symbol on 5s and 6s (successes) with the number in small. I quickly assess the dice throw. But with those GW dice for WH it is just horrible. Have not yet understood if the symbol is the 1 or the 6. sometimes in battle reports it’s the one thing, then I’m another game the other. Confusing

I have said it before: But personally, I much prefer readable, wood dice. I find them not only much easier to read but far better "balanced," if that's something that pertains to dice. Edit: Nice to see you branch out.

After that Dakka Dakka article comparing rounded edged dice to sharp edged dice I won't even use rounded now. Rolling 1s is something like 30% rather than 17% insane! I still have a hard time believing it so I started testing myself. I roll one team with rounded and I found a really cool set of square edged and satin finish d6s for cheap on Amazon. So far I've been rolling so hot with these dice it almost seems silly in comparison. I'll keep testing but over 5 games it really does seem to be more balanced with the flat edged dice.

I use two from Chessex as normal D6: Speckled Fire (CHX 25703 and Vortex Bright Green/Black (CHX 27630) due to the good contrast in 16mm and 12mm (36 of each color and size).

The last ones I bought were the Ork Kommando dice, they are still in the package now that I think about it, maybe I'll give them away to a friend for Christmas, better than spending $30 on a dice set for an army I don't collect or game I don't play.

id like to add a good dice supplier, Baron of Dice make, superb dice for so many games and factions, you can get dice for most factions of 40k, even the obscure space marine chapters. i got myself some tome keepers dice, they are fantastic

We only use chessex dice. For example in Kill Team we use for life points: white/black and if under half life red/black so we don't need the wounded token

Im a huge fan of the 8 dice boxes they have for middle earth, bb, necromunda and aeronautica, especially the mesbg ones which I collect. But I always wondered why the other lines of dice seemed way inferior in both design and packaging, the 40k sets (25 dice packs) look really flat and cheap however there seems to be a new line for 40k getting released with 15 squared dice, pretty similar to the mesbg ones. KT ones, the new stuff is definitely better but not 100% sold of the designs and colours. Also, they did a great job with the HH sets, although pretty expensive and rounded corners.

I just use a brick of 36 yellow Chessex dice. They are small but big enough to read easily and they don't get lost in terrain or on the floor.

It's capitalism my dear Lee - those record profits at the beginning of covid were a problem for us as consumers. That line's gotta go up every year or the shareholders are going to call the Inquisition. Corners are cut, and crappy dice are set forth. That being said, I'm checking out Baron of Dice on etsy currently - your video inspired me to do some searching, and found some amazing looking dice for my bad moon orks - labeled 'goblin dice'. They're pricier than the Chessex basic ones I had been using, but they are still cheaper than GW. The reviews seem to indicate good quality, and some users have stated easily getting a replacement for the odd bad print.

Take a look for a dice game called Tenzi. It hasv4 sets of 10 ten dice on the same colour. I like the quality and colors and it's a steal compared to dice sets meant for our hobby.Not sure if this will hold true in everyone's area though :)

maybe it's my good luck, but our dollar store sells better dice than GW's. They're bigger, easier to read and roll way better. For the price of a GW dice cube you can get 70 of them. i never considered collecting them for the logo's though.

I do like my night lords dice but man buying the squig dice was not one of my brighter moves. I'm hoping for some cool bad moon dice when the new gitz book comes out. Either way don't forget to consider a mash crawla sluggoth as well, his bonus helps everyone in the army so you can go wrong throwing it in for your ally slot! I'm really hoping all of this doesn't get a nerf, our green boys need all the help we can get! Another leak says the Bad moon is getting revamped to constantly be on the board the entire game, but it waxes and wanes kinda like the Idoneth deepkin ability. This makes much more sense from a lore angle because the gobs follow the moon and fight when it's up. It should make Ol' Skraggies ability to control it 90% more useful as well! Lastly I described the problems with the squig dice in another comment so I won't bore you or others with it again though I have to admit as stupid as they were executed at least the darn things make sense with how utterly batshit random a squig/gobbo army is and bouncing instead of rolling fits it to a T as well, though I would put money on anyone using them in a real game to lose them constantly!

Dice are one of the areas where GW's ever-accelerating cash grab becomes most obvious. Because they are available outside the wargaming hobby, we *know* what good-quality really dice cost, and we know what custom dice really cost. Every other manufacturer realizes that they have to sell their dice in a competitive marketplace, because we don't *have* to buy dice from the game's publisher. GW has created an audience that is unaware of the availability of non-GW dice, or has convinced them that shoddy dice with a GW logo are somehow more valuable than well-made dice with no custom logo, or a non-GW logo. We don't have any idea what GW's miniatures *really* cost to produce--though it's almost certainly *less* than the cost to smaller miniature manufacturers, not more--but we know what dice cost to produce because dice are a highly-competitive, free-market commodity. So on the dice, we can see GW's preference for exploiting an existing, fanatic customer base over competing in a broader market to actually expand their audience. The short-sightedness of the GW business model never ceases to astound me.

well got mix of dice but main thing got lot of em from whare dollar store or you in UK pond land or toy stores think the dollar store ones come in pack 12 and all difent colores and think go in bard games and other i got at tag sails frome a mix stuff and yes got ones in gaming store to hek got ones with trains on em and gitars ad slukes in steed of the pipes or dots the ones i like are no dots but nubbers on en do not count dumb dots all time yesd good hladays and will see as post new
