I have had grievances in every edition. Rogue trader: Never played because my army didn't exist and Horus was a guardsman? 2nd edition: The "We are a model company, not a game company" line because they stopped creating FAQ to resolve game issues 3rd edition: How much of the last edition they threw away in their overhaul. TDA become super soft no longer worth using. Oh, and everything that made Chaos overpowered in 2nd edition is written into the rules now 4th edition: Still playing with outdated 3rd edition codex, and the shooting into 6" of terrain limit. 13th Company no longer a legal force. 5th edition: Still playing with outdated 3rd edition codex, oh an update, wait, there are no models for this unit *yoink* "It's 6th edition now. 6th edition: GW wants to sell their new units Flyers so they're overpowered and now everyone needs flyers 7th edition: Flyers don't really matter now because GW is pushing formations which usually include stuff that no player wants to use 8th edition: Another overhaul but this one seems alright but their is a new book out with a rule for this force, and a new campaign book with updated points costs, and this book supersedes that book 9th edition: Changed the way CPs worked, couldn't port my 8th edition force into 9th. Yeah, I think I'll skip this one. 10th edition: It's been a few years since I've played I could look at this edition. Looks okay I'll make a list and see how it goes *reads* "Big overhaul expected next week", "10.5 edition", "Interim changes at GW plan 11th edition" *Sigh*

You can still play them but as a legend datasheet right? Nothing stopping you

With each edition, the rules get worse, more models go into legends, and prices go up faster and faster. There is a way out. Screw the new rules and play 3, 4, 5... 8 edition W40k.

mhm i like 10th Edition, i will made a Video 1 year 10th soon. I have no Problem with some think go to legends but if it can happend all time is not a good way. And they can do it better in AOS why they dont care more for warhammer

I started playing in 5th and graduated onto 6th and 7th but when 8th came around I stuck with what I knew and have never looked back, I've brought my brother up on them too and got him a tyranid hirodule for his birthday just last week! I dearly miss the old forge world ranges the Elysians and XV 9 battlesuits just to name a couple!

9th is so far the only edition that didn't get a Legends update. I'm reserving being salty about all this until I see what they do with 11th. If we get a Legends update each edition, I think that's fine. I've played in all kinds of various events and I've only had one event ever disallow Legends units. They seem to be on the same gradient of sometimes they are good and sometimes not, just like any other unit too, it's not like they're busting casual games and ruins players fun. I guess I still remember the old days of 3rd an on when it could be a decade or more before a unit got an update and you just played what you had. Reducing the unit pool is better for competitive balance anyway and the Legends rules doesn't matter for casual games where you use whatever you want. I still don't really see what the fuss is all about, did we really loose soo much by a small section of our units being disallowed from competitive events? Everyone makes this huge deal over never being able to use these units anymore, but that's crap, if you want to use them, use them; unless the only thing you were using them for was game breaking meta lists which should be reigned in anyway. I still play with my Space Marine Falchion and Spartan, my Great Knarlocs and Knarloc Riders, just like I will with my Tomb Sentinel and Acanthrites. I've got a lot of complaints about how GW handles things, but so far, this doesn't make the list for me.

my problem are not the few xeno units. Im a Guard player and i hate xenos :D ... My Problem is that from one day to another units are removed. If the Garde codex come in 2026... are all other units save oder will they removed??? Legend Units dont get any support so even if i play casual games in wont want to use them because they are not fair. And the are not in the app.

I’m glad you still use your legends units, I will continue to use legends units until they no longer work. It’s still a pretty poor system with problems. There’s no guarantee they will last beyond this edition. Between 9th and 10th many units vanished completely from legends, such as leman russ annihilators. The legends datasheets themselves are often incredibly inaccurate. Your spartan for example doesn’t have the hull lascannon or all the pintle weapons available in the plastic kit, because the legends profiles were copied straight from the imperial armour compendium. Contemptors have some missing weapon options too. Since they’ll never get updated it is a bit frustrating.

@@Rottenflieger. That's true, it does only matter if things actually stay in Legends. That is the whole point of it.
