To answer your question, game demo builds are usually around 3-6 months old, and they're always far more unstable than the actual game is at the time, because the game has to be hacked and reworked to function in a way the final game won't, with files locked off and rerouted while having to try and keep the game stable. Think of it like cutting off your hand to show it live and functional somewhere else, you'd have to do a lot of work to keep it healthy and make the fingers move without the brain and keep blood pumping through it, etc. They take a ton of time and effort so the actual game is always much further along, functional, and more polished than anything the public is playing.

The voice lines would typically be animated with the Japanese script in mind, so that's why they'd look out of sync a lot of the time if you were playing with english voice lines, it was the same in kakarot and Fighterz :)

Yeah, the way the story mode is being handled is a bit disappointing, but given that we already have a dedicated action roleplaying game where the main draw is to experience the Dragon Ball story in game-form and be invested in the most developed version of the Dragon Ball world we've seen in a game up to this point (Kakarot), I can see why Bandai Namco may not have put as much resources into the story mode for their arena fighter which focuses more on playing with others rather than a single player campaign. The game still looks great tho! And I'm glad to see what-if scenarios back at least.

Went from interviewing the HEAD OF SONIC TEAM to getting to play this. King shit tbh. Wasn't sure if i was aching to play this game, but something about this game is getting me interested. Then again, Bandai Namco fighting games are usually pretty fun. Never played a Dragon Ball game for real (though I've considered trying Tenkaichi 3) but this is a game I'll consider picking up.

Honestly I'm one of the few people who will mostly be playing local multiplayer. While it stinks it'll only be in the Time Chamber, it definitely seems like a "It's this or nothing" situation, so it's fine by me. Super excited for October.

Idk how I feel about the custom battle mode. The idea sounds amazing and as a massive fan of things like wwe smackdown vs raw 2011s story creator I'm really excited for the potential it really has, but all I REALLY see here is custom pre fight dialogue and poses and the title card and things like that. I don't see where you can really go all out and make a real story worth playing/telling and let your creativity really go wild. I hope it goes way more in depth than what they showed here cause if all I'm doing is making custom fights with custom in-game settings and custom pre fight interactions with no ability to make like an actual cutscene telling a story then I'm not gonna get much out of it. It looks like you can't have your own custom typed dialogue either everything is pre made dialogue you just pick out of a list. Obviously with them being sharable online they can't give you too much freedom there but just put profanity filters on it and your good. I don't want to just have random fights with my choice of generic lines I want to really create something here. I'm hoping some of the basic standing around and talking cutscenes or still frame shots from the official story mode will be possible and it would be amazing if they even gave you a choice system you can put in your custom battles. I just wanna make a full blown story mode man and if what I see here is all it's capable of idk what I'm really gonna get out of it.

I disagree with local multiplayer not being so important, as it's what made the Tenkaichi games so accesible and popular, and I still play local DBFZ with my friends whenever they come over (as not everyone can afford personal copies of the games), but the map limitation has grown on me, and I think this will be definitely one of the greatest DB games of all time.

I’m disappointed that they prioritized Graphics over an essential game mode they better keep working on it as either an update or the eventual sequel. Custom battles do sound cool and I gotta wonder if how in depth you can control the AI it would be sick to choreograph your fights to make a sort of animation. I'm not crazy enough to say half of Sparking Zero players will play local only, but it is a big miss to require people to subscribe, buy a second copy/PS5 etc to be able to play on a second stage with mediocre internet. You know Tenkaichi casuals will be on that WiFi life. Tournaments will have only one stage if they are played offline since they don't have LAN play.
