I'm pretty sure that the financial targets thing is absolutely right, but we do have to remember that Nintendos 2016 was a very hard year for them. They barely had anything come out last year, especially for WiiU. Last year I'm sure was simply the year which was as long as they could wait before giving investors good news.

The De-Syncing of the Left Joy Con, is due to the Antenna being by a Large Metal Box in that Joy Con. A KZbinr, opened the Left Joy Con, removed the Antenna by the Metal Box and resoddered the Antenna with a wire going in the Opposite direction and it performed perfectly fine, and in fact was able to go much farther away from the TV then the right one. It is clearly the Antenna placement that is messing up the Left Joy Con

I was tracking with this discussion until the "Was the Switch rushed?" There wasn't context given before asking it, and I'm just wondering what the impetus was for it? Are we talking hardware wise? After a week with the Switch, I've never enjoyed a piece of hardware this much. It's concept and design feel anything but rushed. Everything was so beautifully thought out. Must be talking about software I assume, but honestly, with BotW at launch, why would I want to wait longer to play that to have a few more games that I would have to shelve for a few months anyway.

Just wanted to chime in to say that there are actually a lot of people still rockin out with the N64 today. Not only within small pockets/communities without contact to larger 64 communities, but also organized meet-ups both for casual and competitive play. Smash 64, for example, is still played competitively around the world.. a Nintendo 64 game that released almost 2 decades ago lol. Don't underestimate the power of classics, which I'm sure you guys don't need me to tell you, but even moreso don't underestimate these classics sticking with younger demographics. Funny enough, Justin talks about how the Switch is better than the Wii U, how it feels better and stuff, but the Wii U at launch got a 7.6 from IGN, better than the Switch. And then, when the system got updated with games, quick start and better loading times, it got up to 8.0, a whole point more than the Switch, yet they say how it feeled really clumsy and stuff. Not saying they are hipocrits or something, just how a new toy can make an old toy seem worse that what it actually is.

With regards to performance: I haven't noticed any dips in my frame rates when it comes to tablet mode vs docked. I do have a small USB powered fan blowing air on the Switch while its docked, so I'm wondering if that is why. Not sure. Where is Digital Foundary when you need them?!
@juliansalazar70978 жыл бұрын
Juan Guzman Digital Foundry has already done comparisons for both versions. Drops down to 20fps in some places, it's even worse docked. Oh well I'm still have the time of my life with this game.. Love the Switch

Juan Guzman Also, your fan has nothing to do with the Switch and it's technical issues haha
@mrguzman4G8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I saw the Digital Foundary report. My reference was in regards to cooling. Like any computer, additional cooling support can improve performance. We know the Switch hardware is overclocked when docked, and we know that generates additional heat and the internal fan has to work harder versus when in handheld mode. Also I'm thinking its just an optimization issue. No doubt it does not impact its excellent playability

Maybe they thought since Skyrim (remastered?) was coming to Switch that other 3rd parties could too. Skyrim is commonly seen as a "hardcore" 3rd party game, but people forget that it came out in 2011.
@JoBo528 жыл бұрын
Skyrim also launched at around 4GB. The Special Edition, which recently released on PC, is only 13.7GB. Shadow of War will probably be 40GB+ - storage itself poses a problem, let alone having to optimize the graphics and game systems for the Switch.

I was really annoyed by Sam's comment :"I want everyone to be able to play this game I wish it were on other platforms" I mean, doesn't he get it? Nintendo worked their asses off to make this. It's the culmination of developing a series over 4 decades. If people don't buy a switch to play it, well too bad. The PS4/Xbox/AAA publishing model has run this industry into such a narrow space and in doing so created very narrow minds in the industry and gamers alike and a very narrow market. If people want to play Zelda, they need to invest in the only real innovative console this generation: and that is Nintendo Switch (with all of its 'flaws'). Support innovation.
@antoniorsoftware8 жыл бұрын
Wii had motion controllers 10 years ago, Wii U could display inventory and other stuff on second screen, 3DS had 3D. What "innovation" does Switch as a hardware add to the Zelda experience ? A controller you can split in two ? You could plug a Watara Supervision into your TV using a dock over 20 years ago, so even that is nothing new. And also PlayStation has VR support with motion tracking. Xbox Scorpio is rumored to have VR support too, maybe even Hololens support. You can't say others don't experiment and innovate too.

It's so hard. I love OoT so much. It's a game I literally take time out each year and play. I've played video games pretty much my whole life. From the Sega Saturn and original Gameboy and every console after that. OoT really opened my eyes to what video games could be and cemented my lifelong love of video games. Its my all time favorite game. Links Awakening was my first zelda so it's always been 2 on my zelda list even though if I'm honest I like WW a tad bit more. After playing BotW its easily number two and its steadily creeping towards number one despite how hard I keep resisting the thought. The more I play the more that thought pops in my head.

I think that Switch is going to be the _ideal_ console to play indie games on. When it comes to those games that aren't huge graphic hogs, there's no reason not to get it on Switch. The Switch is also more friendly to 3rd party developers because it supports Unity and even Unreal Engine 4.

I wish Nintendo would've waited until winter 2017 and bumped the specs by giving it the latest Tegra mobile processor, 6g of ram, at least 128gb of storage space, and a 1080p screen. I would pay 399.99 for that!!!
@AHYL888 жыл бұрын
Delaying the launch to Winter would've been a bad move for a number of reasons; it was a business decision to go for the March launch was cos that's when the fiscal year ends. Otherwise, having absolutely nothing big come out until Winter would've made things very dire, particularly for their investors. And if all their big games like Zelda, Mario, Splatoon and so on came out at once at that time, they won't be able to do as well as they should be and end up stealing sales away from and competing against each other instead. This March launch is more of a soft launch they went for, a calm before the storm approach in the lead up to Christmas with a steady stream of big games coming out, leading up to their Holiday seller which is Super Mario Odyssey. I highly doubt they'll bump up the specs of the Switch; as far as I'm aware, they've never ever done an upgraded/facelifted version of a console before (Wii Mini doesn't count as it loses features), which was usually reserved for their handhelds instead. And you're really asking a lot there with what you want; those things like the larger SSD internal storage and the full HD screen (which would cause the battery life to tank and not last as long, which also means the battery has to be upgraded) will push the price up tremendously and even further away from the other consoles' prices. So not only would it look like bad value to the general consumer, who aren't as big in gaming like we are, it'll push those consumers away.

I love Zelda too, but I expected something special since the game development started before the Wii U launch...don't assume there will be another proper game in this console cycle other than what 3DS teams make. We're still in the honeymoon phase where people associate their satisfaction with this system with a killer app....just like the Wii enjoyed with Wii Sports. The thing that is troubling is that Nintendo is mum on all the issues out there (bad Switch batches, lack of memory, no messaging capability, poor battery, overpriced games/accessories, d-sync issues, dead pixels, screen scratches, rough online, no VC, game delays, no AAA 3rd party support, lack of games..etc). I think this rushed launch is doing more harm than good.

@jadimich8 жыл бұрын
I could see why some were giving Skyward a 10. The 1:1 motion implementation was pretty revolutionary (especially when it came to combat), it has arguably the best narrative of any Zelda, and the dungeons/bosses (even the lead-in to dungeons) was some of the most superbly designed stuff in any game.
@MisteMiner8 жыл бұрын
Yes there were good things in it, I actually beat it twice and do enjoy it. That being said there were glaring issues that shouldn't have been ignored. For instance the 1:1 motion implementation may have been revolutionary but it was far from perfect in it's execution. And the constant interruptions and handholding with no way to turn it off was a very poor design choice.
@Poppedcollar8 жыл бұрын
I would have loved Skyward Sword if it wasn't for the trials in the middle of the game. They were insanely boring, tedious and completely ruined the pacing of the game. Up until that point, it was the only 3D Zelda I actually liked.

reverse thought: would the switch have been released in march 2017 instead of november 2017 if zelda came out in march 2016 for wiiU? the switch would have a same sucess if it has been released with mario. So the core point is: a release of a console without at least one major AAA-Game is bound to fail...on the other hand, when did this happend the last if any time? I guess Wii (if you dont count wii-sports), 3DS?
@Gabriel360LIVE8 жыл бұрын
+free86daniel Zelda was delayed on Wii U precisely because Nintendo wanted to bring it to Switch, and they couldn't have a year-old game as the new console's lead launch title. And there was no way Nintendo was going to wait until November 2017 to release the Switch. The Wii U wouldn't have lasted that long. That thing was on life support in its last year. As to the question of whether the Switch would've had the same success if it was released with Mario, I'm not so sure. The key difference with Zelda is that it can appeal to gamers who may think they've outgrown Mario. We look at Mario and we call it cartoony. We look at Zelda and we call it beautiful. That's the same reason more gamers are attracted to the Switch than they were to the Wii U. The Wii U looks like it was made for kids while the Switch looks like it was made for a more mature audience.

boss nagrone It looks alright on my 4K, not the greatest but it's the framerate issues that are bothering me the most when docked.
