Even though he messed up a few times in the run this is extremely impressive still. Like not only did he beat the game blindfolded, but he got the glitches while not seeing anything either. Sick run.
@Micras086 жыл бұрын
Honestly the mistakes and subsequent recoveries made the run more enjoyable (and believable if you are a cynic I'd wager :p) :)
@Hoxbot6 жыл бұрын
Technically it is more impressive to finish a run where he messes up from time to time. In a perfect run it would "just" be following a set button sequence with the right time intervals (sounds super easy, right?). In this he had to visualize the stage, deduce his position *and* enter button sequences with the right time interval. It really shows how well he knows the game.
@exanyt6 жыл бұрын
yea the perfect placement you need for some of these glitches is crazy but tbh it's all muscle memory tho even if he did a few mistakes it is crazy good i mean he was blindfolded 99% of us would be stuck at the beginning for a year lmao

Arguably one of the best Castlevania series ever created. Had this game on PS1 and absolutely loved it. Its complexity in all the different items and equipment, the music, voices, sprite animation, graphics, storyline, controls and gameplay: all this rolled into one beautifully executed game. @@MiguelAviles175 I just fired up my X360 version and indeed the game is a lot smoother. But unfortunately I am not a big fan of the dpad on Xbox 360. Do most runners use the standard Xbox 360 controller?

Probably for how consistent the emulation is. The ps1 version lags on certain spots. I imagine this it's much more detrimental when you're relying only on sound and timing.

So, how exactly do you play a game blindfolded? Does it boil down to extended, sequential knowledge of button presses? That would be fooking wild to memorize. Additionally, how do you know what enemies and bosses are doing if you can't see move telegraphs?
@WheelzOfFortune2 жыл бұрын
Years and years ago an actual blind person wanted me to help them beat Circle Of The Moon (because I had written a guide for it on GameFAQs). Using Nathan's slide as a frame of reference for movement, I managed to help the person get past the first three bosses. Lost contact after that so I'm not sure if he got someone else to help him or if he gave up.
@FinetalPies6 жыл бұрын
I understand what frame buffering is (thanks Pannen) but I don't really understand how it helps. It seems like it'd just be harder to pause
@crazydude6106 жыл бұрын
It's not that hard in practice, most slightly older games have a small delay after closing the menu, input while the menu disappears, and menu up again. If you know what controls to use, you can do it fairly quickly.
@Brixgale6 жыл бұрын
So the reason why frame buffering is useful, even in the blindfolded, is that during the pause, which in this case is the map pause, you can input and hold your next command, then let go of the pause and it will immediately input the command you were holding if able. For the blindfold speedrun, like the book jump when blind folded, it is hard to position and do the input for the dive kick all at the right moments due to there being no audio cue of the book positions and no audio cue of when Alucard is fully out of his transformation to allow a dive kick. By buffering, you can take your time in the inputs as well as being able to know if a dive kick occured. If not, then pause and try again, if it did occur, prepare to move left if successful or get ready to reset if not.
@LordHonkInc6 жыл бұрын
Imagine this super simplified example: You need to jump twice exactly 5 frames apart. It'd be tricky (though not impossible) to just learn the right timing, so if you pause buffer to let five frames pass a lot more controllably, it's easier to get it right. Especially with pixel- and frame perfect tricks this also allows you to cancel an attempt if you can see that it won't work out before committing to a potentially one time try. Basically, it's hand made slow motion so you have more time to react. Hope that helps understand it a bit better :)
