Tip about gleba, to avoid manually restarting your production line don't do it manually. At every, and I mean every, stage in the production line have a filtered inserter set to spoilage go into a requestor chest sent to trash all I requested items and send the spoilage to either be burnt or crafted into new ingredients. Also make sure to bring to gleba a fuck ton of logistic bots and roboports or you're screwed
@ChosenPlaysYT27 күн бұрын
In relation to the intro comment: Yeah in this new algorithm era, content is very streamlined. If you lose viewers because of them getting bored in the first minute, KZbin will suppress your video. The title and thumbnail should be your “intro” in most cases, getting right to the juice will be good for your channel.

Learn logistics, it's so painfully worth it. You don't have to master it, but being able to turn a cobalt asteroid crusher off before your belt is almost or entirely full and you're running out of ice is fantastic.The combinator is your friend in space, I assure you.

I went to Fulgora first, while getting the achievement where you skip yellow and purple science. Big mistake. Most of the scrap is on tiny islands. Each island will likely be on its own power grid as you can't build poles on the oil ocean. Therefore. you need to be able to cross the oil ocean with elevated rails or it is very slow going and painfully disorganized. Additionally, the solar sucks there, so without a personal fission generator you cannot use personal roboports. I wish I had gone to Volcanus first and brought enough science to grab elevated rail foundations first thing on Fulgora. But! If you are better prepared and not skipping yellow and purple Fulgora is fine.

The early tricks on Gleba are to set up production to filter off the spoilage automatically and setting up easy ways to “reboot” the system.
@noonebesides14 күн бұрын
Yeah having a copper bacteria positive feedback loop that automatically boots up when the copper runs low is fun. Just keep the fruits rolling in and the copper will always be full. Iron bacteria would be the same if you could source your seed bacteria automatically from something. But throwing it down from a support space station is easy enough.

You don't need to use circuitry to limit the number of items in the storage. You can simply limit number of chest slots. Open a chest, click on the last slot, which is marked as X, move your mouse to cover the slots you want to block and click again. Done.

Don't ship calcite, space platforms can generate it for free later (advanced astroid processing) just by sitting in space, alongside infinite iron, carbon, and later copper.
@theral05625 күн бұрын
I wouldn't pack belts early game, because sending rockets is still expensive. It's super easy to make infinite yellow and red belt and underground belt. If you send a stack of green circuits you can also do more splitters than you'll likely need. It really helps if you do this in space. I'd also recommend making pipes and underground pipes. After you unlock advanced processing and get access to copper in space definitely also make power poles there. Unless you unlock it late, in which case whatever as rocket cost barely registers as a cost after a hundred hours.

I started with a decent science production line, but I micromamaged getting my personal bots and a space platform so now I need to restart my economy to even have a chance of scaling up in space. Oh and I need to get solar or nuclear before my coal runs out. But with personal robots it should be much easier to rebuild everything.
@KeithOlson11 күн бұрын
FWIW, you can add a tank to the steam side of the burners, then set up each set of inserters to only add fuel when the steam is below X, increasing X for each set. When my base is idling, only 6 or so of my 40 burners are actually in use, as that is all the steam I need to maintain enough power. A simple circuit--which doesn't even need combinators!--minimized fuel use and pollution production, both of which saves you a *LOT* of hassle in the early game. ...and, in a pinch, you can use solid fuel/rocket fuel to power your burners/trains/etc. It may not be the best use of your oil, but it works very well. Cheers!
@TheFrantic510 күн бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I used a circuit to skim 10% off of the light oil to make solid fuel to supplement the coal. Meanwhile I ramped up production of tank shells and defender robots and used the two to spot clean the biters hanging out on the path to a new coal patch. You can also use map mode to remotely request 30 ammo into a gun turret ghost, copy it to a blueprint, and set up a self ammoing turret front line right before you engage with the biters.
@KeithOlson10 күн бұрын
@@TheFrantic5 You are most welcome. /bows FYI, the defender bots are *REALLY* effective when used properly. Instead of just letting them follow you around, move in slow circles. They take a while to change direction, so they will swing around you in really large circles; large enough that a cloud of a couple of dozen can be swung through the center of a nest and clear it out *REALLY* fast. You can even just drive in circles.

@@Gamesear You know, I would've skipped the intro entirely, but I watched it a few times just to give some of my insights on this specific intro: 0:00 - 0:08 - fine, no comments; 0:09 - 0:37 - pointless blabber; 0:38 - 0:54 - perfectly fine as well; 0:55 - end of intro - could've been condensed down to 2 sentences at most, there's no need to spend 20 seconds saying something that essentially boils down to "I'm not a Factorio expert, and this video isn't a guide, just a compilation of some tips I picked up". Hell, could probably shorten it even more lol. Honestly you could probably cut it down even further if you desired.
