I mean, that is actually pretty historical, especially in such a loosely run town as this. Practically everyone was still drinking during prohibition and loads of people made tons of money off of the alcohol smuggling trade. Actually, I'd say it's even more historical, because of the bar selling moonshine instead of an official brand.

Someone else might be able to explain it better and I'm terrible at keeping up with names, aheh, but I believe the basic idea so far is that a professor went on an archeological dig along with some of his students, and his students came back but the professor did not, and no one knows where he is. This gang of, I think it's John Steele (Lewis) and his friends/colleagues are trying to find the professor. If I'm remembering correctly, the dig site where the professor was last seen is somewhere around this town, and they got to the town by asking the students and reading some of his letters. In this episode they're just traveling around the town and trying to find more clues about what happened to the professor, but they're also finding out that there's something strange happening in this town. Also, there's a mystical element to the world they're in since it's based off the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, I believe. That's what I've understood so far, at least. I know I probably wrote too much, haha, but I hope it helps a little!
