GameStop Is Closing - The Last Purchase Made In An Almost Empty Store

I went into GameStop the other day, I was shocked by how little games they had, it was like I was in more of a toy store. I don’t understand why they don’t sell vintage games they would make a ton of money.

I thought the same thing on Monday night when I saw a small area with Nintendo and Sega carts. They should fill a wall with those, that would be a real GameStop Retro.

Game Stop got very popular when KB Toys and Toys R Us went out of business and we didn't have a video game store with good selection. I can't believe they are going away as well. Online stores and gaming has flipped box stores on their heads. SHOP IN PERSON before we don't have that option anymore.

I just saw a cool preorder for another Black suited Spider-Man from McFarlane and one of the options was Amazon and I said nope :)

They're not "going away". They're trimming unprofitable stores. I have 5 undermanned, poorly stocked stores within 15 minutes of me in a major metropolitan area... Id rather have one or two well-staffed and well stocked stores. It's just smart business.

A Nintendo Switch Christmas Tree, that's creative! Sorry to see another Gamestop is closing down, although it's a tough business against the big stores I guess. Thanks for covering the store. Most of my Gamestops closed by the 2020 months. Maybe 1 left at a bit of a drive.

Im out of reg coffee so its instant today. We got more snow yesterday and everything going nuts here, hopefully things will calm down. Looking forward to some mariokart with you and others once Switch 2 drops, I just hope they dont hold back the OLED at launch that could be an issue for me.

The future of GameStop does not depend on the whims of Keith Gill. It depends on the $4.5 billion the company has raised and how they choose to utilize it in corporate acquisitions that will add to their long-term profitability. Shutting down beloved storefronts is always a shame but often it is a fiscally wise decision if the location has a history of unprofitability. The company survives by trimming the fat that holds it back.

Good morning Phil, it’s a shame and unfortunate when we see businesses closing down. Not only for the consumer but for the employees. There are employees at GameStop that are passionate about games, and the work they do. My nephew and I love going GameStop. When he comes down and stays with us I usually tell him to get anything he wants. He gets a game, an action figure and a funko pop. Just like our local game shop back in the day it was called NintendoMart great store lots of figures and games. Just like anything else went out of business. Nothing beats going and shopping around, grabbing a game and remembering the time and place you were at when playing that particular game. I still remember I purchased my mini snes at GameStop, well my wife did lol. We were on our way to spend Christmas with my brother and we stopped by at GameStop and they had it ready for me. That SNES mini will be buried with when I leave this world lol. Awesome walk and talk Phil👊🏼

Not surprising More Gamestops are closing . Digital has killed the buisness and selling used was their main revenue point. I havnet bought a game there in years they never really have deals and its like going into a car lot with ppl hasseling u trying to sell u anything and everything. Why would i buy a game used for 55 when i could get in new for 60 , the used prices usually were never good enough.
