It makes children scared of the truth, but as they progress they find out about the lies and piece everything together to find the moral in all the minigames. So essentially, Rocio had the right message, but delivered that message in the worst possible way.
@midnalazuli7934 ай бұрын
Maybe...? I'm not even fully convinced her intention was to help kids, I think she was just using Lacey Games as a way to vent out her traumas by projecting them onto the character she created, and was indifferent towards how kids reacted to them.

So she was trying to be Don Blueth. American tale was basically a child's movie of life being cruel
@aquelgamermexicano4 ай бұрын
By the logic of the theory, Rocio would be the embodiment of "Just because you are correct, doesn't mean you are right". Alphasnow made a funny observation of Rocio trying to be a Don Bluth with the dark tones, however the difference is that Don Bluth believed in the idea of "You can tell any story to a kid as long as you give them a happy ending", in order to bring the idea that through hardships and struggles, the enjoyment of a reward feels better. Again, following the logic of the theory, Rocio would despise that idea because the whole point is that there's no happy endings, otherwise where is her happy ending? She believes that the only through raw and crude reality is ideal for kids to learn and truly be ready for what life can be. Like you said, right message, worst possible delivery.

Considering the cat saying something on the lines of I was hurt so I will hurt others, that's probably Rocio's motive.

@V_Sans4 ай бұрын
I noticed that aswell. Kinda hard to miss the fact that what Grace says does NOT line up with what we see in the videos. Thus, Tom's closing remark about how to save Rocio is much less about Grace being the better person and helping her, and more so Charlie taking the responsibility that Grace shifted due to selfishness, and being the friend Rocio deserved from the start.
@therandomscout65903 ай бұрын
Yeah, Grace should be in Lacey's place.

Grace definitely comes across like she knows more than she's letting on. It's already obvious that she's not that enthusiastic over reminiscing on Lacey Games, to the point where she initially denied she had any affiliation with it. It feels like she only wants to reveal certain parts that paint Rocio as the bad person, but doesn't want to mention anything that could potentially antagonize herself in any way.
@bbymoon3 ай бұрын
Absolutely love the multiple warning, especially for a game like this about such serious and life changing trauma. Such a kind thing to help your viewers
@Queldonus7 күн бұрын
A more grounded in reality look at the ending would be that Rocio realized that being online was triggering her old trauma, and bringing out the worst parts of her past. The imagery of her being wrapped in computer cables would be a physical representation of her, feeling trapped by her online life. Deleting herself, then, would mean abandoning her old life and creating a new identity. But she wasn’t able to let go of the website and the games because she still believes that the message she was trying to convey was important. Those little glimpses of her interacting could be her using the one connection to her past she still has, the website and the games, to see if anything has changed, or wondering about her old friends and using the website to try and check on them. I don’t know what’s more tragic, someone so consumed by their trauma that they end up converting themselves into a part of the games they made to try and escape it, or someone that did literally everything they could, including inventing a new identity, to escape their past, and still finding themselves drawn back to it.

Thanks for covering the series, I'm really glad to see it appreciated! Saw the comments saying that a lot of crucial stuff was omitted or missed out, but honestly, I think the message was conveyed well anyways. You don't have to see every part of the protagonist's suffering to figure out how bad it was and to understand the story in general. Also, just taking the chance to appreciate the art style of Lacey Games. It doesn't look like your average GGG game, with vivid colors and polished design; but it sure does look like a bunch of drawings from a sad disturbed teen from 10-15 years ago. The style is replicated almost perfectly and makes me incredibly nostalgic. It also further shapes out Rocio's character; she feels like a kid I could have known back in the day.
@Spookworm4 ай бұрын
As someone who frequented the GGG website (it's either GoGirlsGames or GirlsGoGames, can't quite remember) as a kiddo, the Lacey's Games series really makes me feel nostalgic, especially with that website jingle? These pictures are exactly the same- /Lh But, on a serious note, the fact that this is a series about traumatic experiences, as well, leaves me feeling so much more exposed in a way that a lot of these other nostalgia-trigger analog series' just haven't achieved for me. Lacey's Games hits way too close to home for anyone to really sit comfortably, which I think was the point from the start. Trauma isn't really supposed to be comfortable.

I really appreciate Tom giving the warnings in the beginning because I'm not sure if I would have braced myself as much as I did without them! I have a suspicion that Lacey might not just be fictional to Rocio. You mentioned that Lacey was “invented to embody Rocio’s hopes and dreams” and I think that’s even more true than we thought. When a person endures extreme trauma, they can dissociate and invent a new persona to fulfill needs. This is referred to as dissociative identity disorder. It certainly sounds like Rocio disaster after killing her uncle. That would be when Lacey was created. It looks to me like Lacey and Rocio are struggling with creative differences regarding the games.
@midnalazuli7934 ай бұрын
Sorry... I don't really understand where you're coming from.
@Fluffkitscripts4 ай бұрын
@@midnalazuli793 you’ve probably heard of “multiple personalities”. That’s a pop-culture misunderstanding of a real condition called dissociative identity disorder. When someone experiences something very traumatic, they may _dissociate._ This basically means they mentally detach from their feelings and their experiences. In rarer cases, a second step can occur where a second personality is invented to take on the pain, to protect or comfort them or embody some need they have. Rocio experienced extreme trauma, sat on her bed unable to move for days, and came up with Lacey, who embodied her dreams of living a happier life. You could take this at face value, say that Lacey is merely a fictional character to Rocio, but the conditions are certainly right for her to be more. Two personas in the same body aren’t always aware of each other. In a way, both of them are the “original” person and they act accordingly. They can end up in a sort of conflict this way. See how Rocio seems unhappy with the contents of some of the games. I’d guess that Lacey made them and Rocio didn’t agree with the direction she took.
@midnalazuli7933 ай бұрын
@@Fluffkitscripts My interpretation was that Rocio initially did have good intentions and wanted to create a safe space for children online to play, but at some point, she snapped mentally and began using Lacey Games to vent out her traumas by projecting them onto the character she created. There's without a doubt some kind of connection between Rocio and Lacey, the videos make that very clear, but I don't believe that it's so extreme, Rocio believes she actually IS Lacey, but that's just my own personal opinion.

(and if you want to end it all, slash yourself, etc ... just know that even with the world being mainly hateful there are still beacons of hope out there, you just gotta find them amidst the ocean.) i have rambled enough now, great video though, and its sad seeing that it takes effort to fix a person, but nothing to break a person.

I did not expect this to take a Serial Experiments Lain turn... wow and also this video was quite heavy, I found myself shutting my brain off and unconsciously stop listening to what was happening several times, having to force myself to rewind the video to catch the bits that I missed again. It's always a good thing to learn about some people's realities though, no matter how dark or uncomfortable they might be. I really hope everyone can stay safe out there, and I wish more victims speak up about their abuse and damage. Everyone deserves to be heard and helped.

I initially heard about these on tik tok in passing, and honestly I'm glad to see the games don't really exist. With a story to tell, the narrative can feel safer and easier to digest. I work with children. When they start growing up I feel so happy. But I also feel scared. I'd do anything to protect them.

Tom, this was such a great ending to the Petscop theory, good job... Also could you perhaps make Roblox Pressure theory ( never understanded their story)
