You never really see the Kirby fandom discussion becoming violent or overwhelmingly negative, and it's because they understand the childlike wonder behind the character and see no need to question things tirelessly. Wow. That was a heavy theory, and I hate to admit that Masahiro Sakurai is absolutely right. I get that fans are crazy and they want more, I absolutely get how corporations want to churn out more of the same content (with a fresh coat of paint) just to satisfy the customers and/or get rich. But I don't think there is a reasonable way of going about this. Nowadays, creativity is risk. Making one bad call can turn the backs of multiple fans and shareholders. Until such a time where consumers are receptive to more creativity, or until the demands of shareholders lessen to allow for more freedom of design, I don't think we will EVER reach the "true ending". Thank you, MatPat (and The Completionist), for making this theory. I think this is a wake up call to the current gaming industry, especially with all the recent drama from Blizzard, EA, Bethesda, and so on.

This theory really makes sense as you play as Kirby in the beginning of the World of Light story mode. Kirby could also represent Sakurai (I mean it would be funny if you start playing as the Master Hand in this mode) as it was his creation--the beginning of successes in his game development career--and his embodiment of Kirby would be a catalyst in saving the soulless crossover of characters and thus would be a "celebration" of these franchises, as Matpat stated.

Then I thought back to the cinematic parts of the Sephiroth trailer and thought about what Sakurai was talking about with regards to the lack of Final Fantasy music until he launched. If Galeem represents corporate interests and Sephiroth makes his big entrance by slicing it in half, I can draw multiple parallels to how much of a pain Sakurai claims getting 9 cues with him was despite Reggie's claim that they had never been turned down for a character being in Smash, even if the most immediate parallel is to him killing Shinra's namesake president

This was, by far, one of the most thought provoking theories I've watched on the channel. I think I paused the video 4-7 times just to take a moment to go "wait what!?" Or to think over what had just been discussed. I was completely confused by what was going on with the endings, but this honestly made tons of sense. Honestly i think this theory is spot on, if you listen to the lyrics of Lifelight you can hear that these characters are united in a struggle between two forces and even some of the other lyrics line up with the actions of both nintendo and the fans only for the characters to be released in the end from the struggle, their souls turned to ash like in the true ending

Okay, a lot of MatPat theories are usually hit or miss for me, but I actually REALLY like this. As someone who's played Adventure in Ultimate, someone who was a bit confused by Master Core and its various forms in Smash 4, and as someone whose first Smash experience was Brawl and playing through The Subspace Emissary, this makes a lot of sense. I never play these games as someone demanding a certain character in the roster or to show off, I play them because they're fun and they have tons of heart and dedication poured into them. Adventure in Ultimate just re-solidified that for me, in a rather beautiful way. In contrast, the dark realm is made of broken pieces smashed together as if there was some kind of apocalpyse, arranged in a way that doesn't really make sense- giant cogwheels leading to broken streets leading to paths made of graphical errors, a representation of what the game would be if the fans were in control, being as disorderly and convoluted in their desires as they are. I just finished World of Light. I defeated both Galeem and Dharkon and witnessed their forms plummet into the water. I watched as these bright little souls, now free, extended outwards to the heavens, becoming their ultimate purest forms: As characters, that we can love and appreciate without restraint. I thought of it actually the opposite way. Galeam could represent Sakurai. In the game Galeam wants to create a new world completly of light. Sakurai is Galeam and the masterhands are his creativity (or maybe his co-producers of smash). He uses them to destroy the smash characters and turn the world into complete light. Destroying Smash would mean he wouldn't have anymore pressure. For him this would be his perfect world. His world of light. Kirby was even able to get away. Maybe Galeam couldn't really destroy him because he is the representation of Sakurai. Like Smash Sakurai would want to end Kirby but he definetly can't. And Darkhon. Darkhon is Nintendo. When Sakurai tried to destroy Smash, Nintendo (Darkhon) got aware of it. And the crazyhands are the fandom. The fandom that wants always more. The fandom that wants to destroy his work by wantig always more out of greed. When the smash fighters destroy darkhon Sakurai can finish his world of light. When we destroy galeam darkhon imprissons Sakurai (for more smash games). When we destroy both, Sakurai finally quits the project and stops smash in some way. And darkhon goes down because smash is over. A big lose to Nintendo, because Sakurai isn't on board anymore.
