It isn't just that antimatter has regular mass. They recently managed to create enough of it to drop it and check experimentally if it falls down or up. It falls down. The experiment didn't show the same value for gravity as ordinary matter, but that's very likely just a margin of error issue.

Negative mass actually would be still attracted to positive mass like planets, because it's moving in the *opposite* direction of the force being applied to it. But, positive mass would be *repelled* by negative mass, meaning if you had a negative and positive mass of the same value, they'ed be that one troll physics engine of a magnet pulling a car forward, continually accelerating to infinitum.

Negative mass is actually a thing. On a quantum level, small amounts of negative and positive mass are constantly spontaneously appearing and then negating each other. If we had a way to isolate a large enough amount of negative mass from positive mass, so they don't negate each other, we could, in fact, have a negative gravity body. For the superconductor solution, you just need one powerful enough to use the planet's magnetic field.

Though there are all sorts of theoretical issues with both of those if put into "practical applications" like how a superconductor on that level could very well disrupt the Earth's magnetic field.

Negative mass is not a physical phenomenon, though. It's a mathematical artifact: You can (theoretically) arrange mass and energy in a way that causes a particular region of space to behave AS IF it had negative mass, but that doesn't mean it actually does -- the system as a whole is still quite distinctly positive. It breaks down as soon as you do something with it.

Hello Tom. I have theory about FNAF HELP WANTED 2. Is the protagonist of HELP WANTED 2 dead and his soul trapped in the AR world? When we look at our character's hands after removing the mask, they are still blue. In HELP WANTED this was explained by the fact that we are in a VR game, so here, after removing the mask, there is no reason for the hands to still be blue. It's not a lot of work to put ordinary human hands there. True?

There's a lot of reasons to be mad at Ubisoft but that quote shouldn't be one of them as it's taken out of context In context it was the answer to a question, the question being (slightly paraphrased) "What would NEED to happen for a streaming model to become the standard in gaming?" Einstein's math allows for negative mass. It's the main reason theories about white holes and anti-universes exist. With math, however, you aren't constrained by the laws of physics in the same way we are. The equations work with both positive and negative values. This proves that anti-gravity can mathematically exist, but it's likely not something that can exist in practice. It's the same thing with Einstein-Rosen Bridges (Wormholes). They can exist mathematically, but likely not in practice. At least not for long enough to actually utilize them, since they collapse before even light can get through fully. But we used to think black holes were impossible despite the math allowing it, so who knows what's really out there?

Hi, physics student here, there's a misconception with super conductors in this video, they levitate not because they produce a magnetic field but rather because the magnetic field lines of other magnets can't pass thru the superconductor because something called coupper pairs (sorry for the mis spelling English is not my first language)

All you need to fly is upwards momentum. Planes do it by making air hit them from below. Just get a leafblower and vacuum, put them together and pull in air that you then push out onto the thing you want to fly. I should be given funding for this idea

I disagree that acoustic levitation would stop working if you switched from hovering over ground to water. The paper referenced uses the ground surface to reflect the emitted acoustic wave, forming the standing wave that allows it to levitate. In order for the standing wave to stop being formed, the wave you emit has to be transmitted into the surface instead of being reflected. The acoustic impedance with respect to air is virtually the same as ground, so the amount of the sound wave reflected will be very similar - the standing wave will still form for your levitation

A repulsorlift would make more sense if it were a small warp engine that made its own gravitational field that would effectively pull itself upward at the same rate of acceleration as the planet or moon one is riding on, not negating mass, but negating how mass would accelerate towards other masses. You would still have to account for inertia and changes in elevation, but considering it's technology so commonplace as to be recreationally used for chairs in a setting with all manner of droids with various programs for a multitude of functions, it shouldn't be too far-fetched.
