***** I can't believe he thinks that Rayman Origins is better. I mean honestly. As someone who thought Rayman Origins was an overrated lackluster by the books type of platformer, I can confidently say that Rayman Legends is not only better than Rayman Origins, but is one of the best 2d platformers of all time. It has level diversity throughout, and each level(for the most part) teaches you a new mechanic or shows you a new idea to mess around with. While it may not be as hard as Origins, I think that's a good think. Rayman Legends has a really unique control scheme where Rayman feels really floaty and the platforming is always fast paced. Why wouldn't they make it less difficult? Even most platforming fans aren't use to this type of control scheme in a platformer. Plus, if you want a real challenge, try 100% the game. I don't know, I just feel like Rayman Legends is so much better than Origins. But I think the 2 biggest reasons are : #1: Each level is unique and differs, each level offers you a new mechanic or idea to mess around with, so unlike Origins, this doesn't feel like a run of the mill platformer. #2: So much replay value was squeezed out of this game compared to Origin. After beating Origin once, I can confidently say I'll probably never play it again. But Legends I will play time and time again because of the leaderboards, multiplayer(which thanks to share play on the Playstation 4 can be multiplayer, share play allows you to play on the couch co-op games online), and unique levels. I don't know, I just LOVE all the post game content.

I think he playing the Wiiu version may have had a part in his opinion. Because I played the xbox one and the psvita/wiiu version and the Murphy levels arent as fun on wiiu because of the gamepad gimmicks. The platforming on this game is indeed amazing, but on wiiu/psvita they force you to play with Murphy using touch controls & gyro while an AI character plays the platforming part, and I have to add: the AI character is DUMB! It ignores pretty much every secret that the player normally would have spoted and collected themselves and sometimes its frustrating getting them to do what you want, the worst offenders are the duck levels, it also doesnt help that there are too many of these levels, making half of the game a touch fest. Meanwhile on Ps4/xbox you play as both the character doing the platforming and Murphy which is like an added button to your moveset, which means now you have one more thing to think as you are platforming and that adds a nice new layer of challenge to the Murphy sections. And even if there are too many of them you are still platforming and having fun.

I really liked this game, it looks gorgeous, the music is perfect and the gameplay and the bosses were really fun, however, i thought it was kind of short and the secret world sucks, and i really didn't like that much the murphy levels. Apart from that, i hate how a lot of people said that tropicall freeze wasn't that good because was too similar to returns, but nobody said the same about legends considering that is also really similar too origins.

The problem I have with origins and legends the most is that I get really frustrated playing these games. The reason I get so angry is because imo Rayman 2 and 3 are better than these sidescrollers. And if they can make an amazing sidescroller then why wouldn't make an amazing 3d game?

And if you like Origins more, you didn't waste your money if you bought this game, because you can still play all the Origin levels in this game too (except for Land of the Livid Dead).

I had a funny story wat goes for Rayman Legends, because I wanted Rayman Origins, but I didn't know there were two like such Rayman games, so I accidentally ended up with Legends while I wanted Origins and I ended up liking Legends more than Origins because later I found out I found Origins boring and kinda empty compared to Legends. And speaking of Rayman Origins: Do you know how to get to the boss fights? Because I never saw them on the maps.

I have played the game exclusively multiplayer with my girlfriend, and it's one of the best co-op experiences I've ever had. She loves being Murfee for all of those particular stages, and there have been plenty of times when we've had to pause gameplay because we were in fits of laughter due to accidental deaths. The music stages are incredibly innovated and catchy, and every one that I've played is fantastic.

Having beat this on Wii U, the music levels are the BEST. I would seriously buy a Rayman Music Legends game if ever produced. The music levels are almost the reward for beating each "world".

Murphy is exclusive to Wii U...sort of. Murphy only makes an appearance in the other versions when the level recquires him. He's not available elsewhere in the game. And he's controlled by a button press in the few levels that feature him.

Personally, the game's multiplayer is the best part. It's almost like an old-school beat-em-up or shooter in that it's much better with a friend. The Murphy stages are a whole lot less annoying, you never get in the way of each other, and it all just seems more fun with another player or two. It's miles above New Super Mario Bros. U.

And all I'm saying is that comparing scores doesn't paint the picture you're wanting it to, especially if you're dismissive of the actual text behind some of them (Gametrailers' comes to mind) simply because "they must be biased". Of course people have bias, that's why you read the reviews (plural), try it yourself (if you're lucky) and form your own opinion.

I remember playing Rayman on the 64, in a full 3D environment... after that, I never really played any others over the years, despite it being one of my favourite games at the time. Perhaps I should start picking them up again, if only for nostalgia.

the Murphy levels are way better on PC/PS3./360, because you just press the L button to make Murphy control things while you are playing as Rayman or whoever else, and use the back L and R buttons to rotate certain things when its time for it. It also makes for a quick thinking challenge like when you are running and at the same time have to press the Murphy button (L) to cut a rope to get somewhere, and there's no need for a stupid AI like on the Wii U.

Eh, just having a button do it instead takes away the both the charm and the point of the Murphy levels. They were there to take advantage of the Wii U GamePad and thus became a waste of a new game mode on the other systems, if you didn't buy a tablet or PS Vita (which I wouldn't recommend if you just want it for Murphy. I think the tablet only works well in multiplayer).

I think Legends tops Origins by far and even then I loved Origins. I disliked how many electoons you need to collect in the previous game to unlock the very last levels. Legends made it simpler by increasing the amount of lums you can collect. There were some parts of origins which were just a tad scattered

One big negative is that they included exactly identical levels from origins rather than actually doing some remixed ones from the original game. I mean how cool would it have been trying the original levels remastered in the origins/legends style?

Good review, but I personally enjoyed Legends more than Origins. Lums felt much less tedious to collect in Legends, and most things, such as the visuals and music seemed to take what was done extremely well in Origins to the next level. I also liked the hub world, which was fun to run around, and being able to progress in a less linear fashion was convenient for those who don't enjoy Murphy levels and want to skip them. Just my opinion, anyways. Looking forward to your future reviews!

That you have a strong opinion that the versions are equivalent without realizing the glaring differences and knowing which you prefer (despite questioning others for the exact lack of experience, "Have you played the other versions?" was your response above) is more telling as far as bias is concerned.

I am not a rayman fan but I tried the demo and I want this specifically for the gamepad sections. It's the only game I know of to utilize the gamepad in any meaningful way. It's sad this isn't an exclusive because the other systems will be getting an inferior version. I might get this and Sonic Lost World. Mario 3D World was a huge letdown for me. It's only arguably 3D, with lack of analog movement and limited camera controls.

Guys, Ubisoft wanted Rayman Legends to be on other consoles because they wanted to make MONEY like everybody else wants to! Nintendo would have done the same damn thing if the roles where switced, and the Wii U owners got the game anyway! And also, don't get the game on the Wii U, get it one the Ps3 or the 360, so you can actully play the game yourself, instead of an idiot CPU stealing your adventure! The Ps3 and 360 versions of the game proves that the Wii U gamepad is NOT needed to control Murfy OR to enjoy the masterpiece that is Rayman Legends.

+Jojo Bad Grammar And Spelling as one who played the Wii U and 360 version I can say that I like the Wii U Version far more. The Murfy-solution on Wii U is better that on the PS360 versions imo. There, these levels are just normal levels, and you simply push a button to make murfy do something. On the Wii U (and PS Vita version) these levels are actually different.

I liked this game overall, but the murphy levels got a bit tedious to me. I thought they were a creative way to take advantage of the Wii U hardware, but I felt like they showed up too often, and sometimes took away from the fast-paced and engaging nature of the gameplay. Lastly, the side missions that had you use murphy to rotate the gamepad to free a teensie were plain obnoxious.

Those figures exist if you'd actually look for them (I wouldn't be surprised if they were sourced from NeoGAF). As for the game, it certainly doesn't sound like you've played the Wii U version much. I've played the 360 and Wii U versions and certainly prefer the latter; as did several reviewers. It ultimately depends whether you like the variety/challenge direct control of Murphy adds. I like it (liked'em the first time I played it on the challenge app). The off-TV support is just gravy.

I disagree with the multi-player portion being worse, as other than extreme challenges, everything in the game can be played with others. It is more fun that way, as others don't get in your way like in New Super Mario Bros. With the addition of Kung Foot, multi-player is even better.

I agree with most of your review except for that Origins is better than Legends. Legends is overall, better than Origins imo. The only thing I see Origins being better at is difficulty of the "main" stages (i.e. excluding time trials in Origins and invasions in Legends). And multiplayer can be a blast if you have the right people over to play it with you ;) Overall, very good review Derrick :D

I didn't really likeOrigins, but I love Legends! The negatives in this game are: 1) It is very short(10-12 hrs for the Legends stages) 2)The A.I. in the Murphy levels is just retarded, although I realize that if it was more helpful, then the secret areas would not have been secret at all. 3) There is too much delay between animations (from hit to run, jump to glide) that leads to death in tough levels such as the Challenges. Everything else is good.

The symbols have nothing to do with Playstation. Murphy is controlled by a simple button press in the other versions.

Not frustrating...not fustrating. What!? Quick Sand invaded...Ray and the beanstalk invaded. Hardest levels in the game. I got so fustrated with quick sand invaded I got kicked off my Wii U for the rest of the day.

They were hard but if you die you only lose 1 minute of gameplay at max. I never had any problems with these levels but infiltration station invaded is hell

I don't think Pokemon can or should be compered to this. For one they both are for very different audiences so if you like one you are less likely to like the other compared to games of the same mechanics of themes. Also you wouldn't compare Mario or sonic to GTA or The Last of Us.

I admit we rarely get to see a Sony or Microsoft video but the recent past showed Andre and his team are trying to fill this gap. Not much at the moment, though, but several Discussions about PSVita or Next-Gen + a few reviews and even a Kingdom Hearts III Analysis clearly prove it's not a Nintendonlychannel.
