Awesome build, it's nice to know that, after the blight killed off all the storks, the robots were able to adapt and fill their ecological niche.

Fun fact: the original name for the company that produced this droid was S.T.O.R.C. (Surface Transit Orphan Relocation Corp.) before I decided it would be more interesting if the cargo was unknown and it was just a common delivery droid being used for an unusual mission. That's why the logo on the compartment looks like a stork.

Just watched this again with my wife this time. This is what she thinks the story should be for the baby. " Due to the harsh conditions of this new world the mother and father died but the baby survived. And the only living relative, his aunt, who was part of a research team living in a bunker was to care for him." Thought it was pretty cleaver. I bet I laughed again over a dozen times during this episode. I love rewatching your stuff and laughing. Trying to support the best that I can by telling others about your channel. Keep up the good work man can't wait for the next beyond the blight video

The Droid Maker retroactively makes this build that much more heartbreaking. To think, this droid is carrying a week old baby across the continent to a bunker, never again to be seen by his father, because the alternative is life under unspeakable tyrant. I do hope there is yet some chance for Tek to see his son again, though after what you did to us with Little Flee, that might not be such a heartwarming reunion… I am very invested in the well-being of this little clay infant

Late to the party, but I like to think that this is an orphan baby who doesn't seem to be affected by the blight, and researchers in the bunker are going to care for it while also studying its immune system to try and find a possible cure.

I like the idea that the blight cannot live in the extreme cold. So there are bunkers scattered all over the Arctic region and they spread genetics between them to maintain a stable population by delivering babies. Basically children are married off a few months after their born. There then transported by this robots to there new home with there new family. Well then be raised and given to someone they were already betrothed to to keep inbreeding down between the bunkers. I think it'd also be cold at this was the last group of ordinary humans who are completely unaffected .

One of the things I wanted to stress with my videos is how common mistakes are, and how difficult/frustrating/infuriating this hobby can be, but also how a little persistence and creative thinking can turn those mistakes around and result in something worth putting on a shelf... most of the time! With the legs being extended you gave it extra joints so it could be posed to show off those digitigrade legs. Though I don't know how well it could balance or move its feet since the original design was for Plantigrade Edit: As for the story of the delivery. Given what I can guess what the size of the droid based on the door. I imagine it might be a muted newborn that might have gained an immunity to the spores that poison the atmosphere. While most people require respiratory equipment to go outside, this one seems uninhibited.
@gameyybuilds2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately when I glued the extension segments to the legs, the superglue leaked and locked everything in place so I was a little limited with poses, and it ended up too tall to be on the land so I hacked off the legs at the shins and just glued it to the water/resin. Great story idea!

I’m gonna say that the bunker is absolutely huge underground and that the workers in that bunker are trained and conditioned from birth to have no aspirations of ever doing anything but their jobs in the bunker, whatever job that may be. Or everything is cake, and that’s not a baby at all, but a custom-made cake that’s the result of a big miscommunication in the order-taking process. Are there any entertainment droids in this universe?

My sister and I came up with this: "Nearly a century after the beginning of this new world, a blizzard struck, claiming the lives of all but this infant, whose parents had placed him, thoroughly swaddled, inside an incubator in the furnace room, where he safely slept throughout the storm. When the hospital eventually lost power, a maintenance robot was deployed from a long dormant service warehouse, tasked with restoring power to the hospital. While attempting to fix it, his audio receptors detected a sound alien to his world of gizmos, and he discovered the baby hidden away in the recesses of the building with the furnace. Perplexed but determined, he scoops the little guy up and begins to care for him as his own, tucking the baby, (who he possibly names Gizmo,) amongst his warmest electrodes, modifying his own body to better support the infant. He then does some research and finds the last known habitation suitable for humans, but it's far off, across the land. This diorama could be them finally finding this promised land, on the cusp of a hopeful home." Could be the beginning of a series chronicling the adventures of these two. Or maybe the robot has to get the baby back to his parents, maybe they're aren't dead just separated? By the way, there's this really cool music video for a song called snowbank blues by the backseat lovers, which I bet everyone on this thread would really like. Thanks for the videos! My sis loves them too!

A bit late but: The baby is a changeling. The brave but cruel warrior and officer had married far above his standing, his wife was the daughter of a high-up manager in the corporation. But she had the audacity to die during childbirth, and on top of it she gave birth to a girl with a deformed hand. The warrior was furious, he needed a child by this woman to keep his standing with his father-in-law, but he did not want anything to do with what he considered weakness. The warrior thought it natural that all things belonging to his soldiers belonged to him, and that the best baby in the garrison should be his son. He commanded a droid to go to the island where the wives of his soldiers camped for the winter and take the strongest baby boy back to the warm bunker. The droid left behind a terrified new mother, crying as she nursed the strange, rejected baby under heavy heaps of blankets. Little did this brave, cruel warrior know that he would have been better off having no child at all. Much better.
