Honestly, the fact that Kibbe rejected pure types makes me questioning my existence. I really can't see myself as any other type than pure gamine. It seems to me that I don't have neither extra yin, nor extra yang for me to be soft or flamboyant gamine. I think the description of pure type suits me best. Does that mean I'm not real or something?
@melfuz4 жыл бұрын
Because everyone is so unique and there can be so many possibilities, I think pure types do exist! And it's ok to disagree with him 🙂 Sometimes you know best..you live in your own body. People have said that I cannot be a winter because I don't fit the typical mold at first glance because of my hair color. But winter is my personality and those colors looks best on me! I say go with it! 🙂

Hello Aly, just a quick idea, a lot of people have been commenting about how great it would be if you would look at them and tell them their kibbe type. Although these comments are mostly meant as a joke, it could be a way to get more patrons. Patrons who give upwards of let's say 30 dollars per video can send you some pictures of themselves or their Instagram page and you could tell them what's most likely their kibbe body type. You could also host several Google hangouts split up based on kibbe or fashion types for patrons who give upwards of five dollars and discuss tips and challenges of their type. Love your content keep being wonderful!

Hi!😊 I think I can help you with this. I've been looking at the body types more than a year, and I've been observing them in detail to train my eyes. I would like to help you starting with an easy way so at the end we can agree with a body type that fits you. First things first let's start with your height, since it can actually be very helpful at first. It helps to make sure which ones you aren't. Keeping that in mind, let's pay attention to your facial features too. If the person in your porfile picture is you, I think your features don't look specifically delicate or small, neither very feminine or girly. You look pretty powerful, so per me, I wouldn't describe you as any gamine or romantic type. You might have more yang energy, so I would go for a more powerful body type. Let me know what you think so far, and which ones you think you are. Please, don't worry and don't give up, I'm sure we will find yours. We can do this together. 😄

Don't give up! According to your profile picture you have more yang than yin so you have to search yourself more in dramatic, dramatic classics or flamboyant gamine, it depends of your height. Ask a friend to describe your appearance and search the characteristics in the different body types or just go to the shop and choose 5 dresses specific for each of the body types. This one what suits you best will show you your body type. The others will look a little bit funny or ridiculous on you, not like yourself. Good luck!

Would really like to see comparisons between each body part to clear some of the confusion off, Especially for classics! It’s hard to tell if something is moderate or slightly sharp or soft, classics have the most confusing description as it just says moderate! But really what exactly is “moderate “ beacuse just saying that it is a blend and you can’t tell if sharp or soft isn’t going to help, so giving examples and comparing between each part would really help us see the bigger picture more objectively for example Meryl Streep has sharpness to her yet is typed as soft classic...
@elektrakomplexet4 жыл бұрын
“Moderate” means nothing stands out. Your proportions, your curves, your vertical or your facial features. Classics don’t stand out in a curvy, wide or narrow way. Meryl Streep has some sharpness in face, but overall her image is very refined and classic. I’d say the only thing that really stands out in her is her nose.

I’m glad you mentioned that gamines can sometimes have longer arms and shorter legs. When i take any test it groups my arms and legs together so I don’t know how to answer. I have long arms, pretty straight torso with short appearing legs. I’m pretty sure I am FG based on the test but at least some type of gamine. I have equal A and E answers with a few D but more B mixed in. My face is a mixture but is the most yin thing about my whole body. However, my cheek flesh stays fairly taut even when I smile. I have an oval face. I have long thin hands and feet but they don’t appear big necessarily. I have always looked a little muscular but not big or tall. My shoulders are the broadest part of my body but still don’t look big compared to Natural types. I’m 164 cm or 5’4”. If I wear frilly clothes i looked very odd and “manly” but very structured pieces with color blocking do look good on me. Combining structure with unstructured works for me. Soft details work but cannot dominate what I wear or I look out of place. I have naturally curly hair that is medium length. I used to keep it short and I had a funky spunky vibe. I still like my hair pulled back from my face now that it is longer. I’m saying all this in case someone else is still determining their type too. Or if you notice similarities let me know!

Forget the test! Look at the entirety of your body. Long arms and short legs are a sign of juxtaposition, which is a gamine trait.

Any type can be busty or have a big cup size. As long as the bust doesn’t change your silhouette. If it’s straighter overall, then you’re not curve dominant per Kibbe. Also: don’t use hands as a defining feature. Kibbe says you don’t dress your hands in a HTT outfit, so you don’t need to focus on them.

I have a short vertical line though (big head) but with broad shoulders, my chest is pretty wide but I don’t have big breasts though (a cup) almost like gamines. Could I be a short fambloyant natural?
@MartinaGiovese4 жыл бұрын
If you have blunt bones, wider shoulder/ribcage, look more muscular you're probably a natural. If you have sharper bones, angular shoulders/small ribcage, and look delicate or narrow, you're probably gamine. Breast size won't make or break any type, its more the width of the ribcage that matters. I don't think you'd be a short FN because they have a very long vertical line and long bones which is hard to achieve at 5'2.

@@MartinaGiovese Sorry, but it's very much about flesh, as much as it is about bones. Different cup sizes - entirely different figures and lines that will suit that figure. Breast will, very much so, make or break a type if they are the first thing you see when you look at person. In that case, when curves/lush flesh are the first thing you see, we are talking about flesh dominant types. Narrow bone frame, curve/flesh dominant and tall - SD Narrow bone frame, curve/flesh dominant and short/petite - R/TR Narrow frame, lean and boyish, tall - D Narrow frame, lean and boyish, short/petite - FG
@MartinaGiovese4 жыл бұрын
@@blueice011 You misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not saying that flesh doesn't matter. I'm saying that one single feature won't make or break an entire type, in the sense that it won't override the other 99% of your features. You're a collection of features, so the entire impression of fleshiness (including the breasts) matters more than just the breasts /alone/. Your chest will totally influence your lines, but its not enough to say all people with big chests are automatically SD or R, because all of those other features matter too. I think we also tend to think in terms of skinny or curvy, but that often skews types that are underweight or overweight into certain categories that they aren't. There are underweight SDs and overweight FGs, which can be easily mistyped because of how weight impacts the impression of fleshiness. That's why I like to focus on the distribution of weight over the frame, rather than thinking in terms of just individual features. Chest matters a lot if it needs to be accommodated into their lines, like Christina Hendricks for example, but not every SD looks like Christina Hendricks. For instance, there are many examples of SDs who have small to average chests that don't need to be accommodated in their lines, but are still curve dominant because their total flesh is very noticeable and soft. And there are petite types who aren't completely flat. There are naturals that are fleshy and have chests even though they tend to look more lean and muscular overall. That's my whole point here. Someone shouldn't rule out types altogether just because of their cup size without taking into consideration the other 99% of their features as well.
@blueice0114 жыл бұрын
@@MartinaGiovese Thank you. I do understand your point, however, realistically, how many DD+ cup size body images have you seen which were not, as a whole, in curve dominant SD/R/TR category? Surely, it's not the only feature that should be taken in consideration, however, someone with curves that are dominant and first thing we see on the person, can hardly be any other type, more toned, athletic or frame dominant. Otherwise the system makes next to no sense. The book set the rules, very clearly. Certain body images, according to book, couldn't have, ever, certain features. Christina Hendricks is not just busty, she is an hourglass, just as Salma Hayek in TR (short hourglass) category. But bust is first thing I see looking at them. Then the hourglass shape. If curves/including breasts is not the first thing you see, it's not curve dominant body image, in my eyes. It may be on a softer side, as SC or SN, or SG, but true curve dominance have only 3 types - SD, R and TR. If flesh is toned, athletic or moderate and soft, I wouldn't call it curves in a first case (rather toned musculature) or dominant curves in second case. That's why tallest types need more than 3 types, there are lean hourglasses, especially among very young girls, who are tall, lean, but well defined regarding bust/waist/hips ratio and with soft flesh, although not as lush as vintage/standard SD's for example. Most of 90's supermodels would fit into this type, IMHO, not in FN's. Yasmeen Ghauri and Brooke Shields or Cameron Diaz simply don't have similar body image nor body shape. Nor vibe for that matter, since Kibbe is all about archetypes and essences these days. Blunter/wider frame ladies with lush curves also need a type if taller than SN's or SN group should have more tolerant height range. All groups should, actually, since generations today are not the same size wise as those 40 years back and update is much needed.

@@blueice011 Yeah I agree with you on that! The overall impression and seeing where your eyes are drawn is so important. Just looking at a picture of yourself and seeing what immediately pops out does a lot. I totally get what you're saying about how breasts factor into curve dominance. And I agree that the chest is certainly a feature that pushes people towards one type, since it usually factors in well with someone's overall flesh and yin balance. I guess I just caution with using the absolute cup sizes. Like, are we talking about a DD+ cup size on someone who is an hourglass shape, so your eyes focus on that fullness and are drawn down those sinuous lines. Or a DD+ cup size on someone who has that same volume and width down the rest of their body- in which case the chest may not really stand out visually. That balance with the rest of their body can factor in greatly, especially when typing someone whos overweight. But of course, having some softness isn't the same as truly being curve dominant. I've seen SCs and SNs who are overweight and have larger cup sizes, but either their proportionality and very balanced features come through more, or their frame comes through more. I think you get what I mean. I just tend to take things like bust size, especially if its more average, with a grain of salt until I get a feel for their overall balance. Then its usually pretty clear where people fall. And I agree wholeheartedly on needing more taller types and more nuance. It is a little silly to squish people into categories based upon necessity, rather than by their true differences in body type. As a tall lady I find that I struggle to fit into FN/SD/D because they all seem just a little off in some way. And when I look for examples closer to my age and weight, it really doesn't bring much clarity. But hey, we make do. At least its helped me style myself.

I've learned a lot from this series! But as you say, no one can be a hundred percent or 50/50 of either I'm petite. But I don't have a squared face if that makes sense.. I think I'm rounder so I can relate also to theatrical romantic but with more straighter or flatter body type so I could be in soft natural or soft classic but if you'd think ONLY of my height then I guess I'm really Soft Gmine but without rounder and bigger eyes I think. I'm Asian. A Filipina to be specific. My eyes are a bit round, deep yet I remember when I was younger I'm a bit more "chinita" to look at. Eyes that's very prominent in East Asia. I think the Kibe needs to be updated and more inclusive. Although I'm not offended or anything.. please, don't get me wrong. Like I said I've learned a lot and thankful for these kinds of content on KZbin. Yet I wish there's more to just 13 body types hehe. Again, thank you so much and I appreciate everything you do for us.

Oh gosh, I am still not sure:) I narrowed it down: I am 5.7- so tall, -- and definitely drama dominated with long thin limbs, yet, my face is not matching with dramatic faces, always had bigger eyes and especially in my youth, soft roundish flesh on my face (and face only:))). Wide shoulders, weight gain goes to upper thighs, hips. Blunter face-bones and must have-messy or big hair makes me think maybe flamboyant natural(?)
@mariagabbott Жыл бұрын
I'm 5'7 too but I would say our height is moderate rather than tall, which is why I'm having trouble deciding on my body type. In the end it depends on a combination of frame, musculature, "fleshiness", proportions of limbs and overall essence. The following are 5'7 celebs who have been classified into different kibbe types (most are verified): Kate Moss (dramatic), Grace Kelly (soft classic), Sofia Vergara (soft dramatic), Diane Kruger (Dramatic Classic), Audrey Hepburn (flamboyant gamine) and Laetitia Casta (either flamboyant or soft natural) to just name a few.
