Put two fingers over the closing, slide them along the closing in opposite directions, and the closing will split at the sides on their own due to this, making it easy to open without tearing them apart.

I know everyone likes to store their games vertically like books so I used to and I hated the experience of opening any box to find all the components slumped to one end, bowing boards, and with the cheaper boxes the way that they spread at the top over time while standing on end. I'm in horizontal land now, even though it's not as OCD-beautiful externally, it is on their insides.

The torn / bent cardboard standee: Oh the agony and its never the same... and getting the box bottom stuck in the top is a regular occurence- except its usualy full of cards, pieces, coins - turning it upside down is not an option!
