Every time I watch you build a city I just get so triggered. "No, you're leaving intersections there!" "No, you're building in inauspicious locations!" I need to chill and just let you play the game and get the footage you need, lol

Thought the same during the pharaoh video. "You could put so many more farms on that plain!!!"

Great video :) It's nice to see people still talking about these great games after all these years. In my opinion, Rise of the Middle Kingdom may be on a technical level the greatest of these 4 games, and it also provided a lot more in terms of gameplay options than say Zeus. No other game required you to provide this many kinds of foods and goods already early in the development of a city, the trade system was more involved; also, the graphics improved a lot upon previous games. The only thing that was a bit disappointing were the monuments, I think Pharaoh did a better job here. Also, while the difficulty on a "microscopic" level was maybe higher in Rise of the Middle Kingdom, I liked how in Pharaoh the later missions had some insane requirements of like 12.000 people, something I feel Emperor lacked a bit. Once you know how to play the game, it became much less of a challenge than Pharaoh (not even talking about some of the missions of Cleopatra, which still give me nightmares ^^)

If you are still playing this you should really explore the Feng Shui more. It really impacts the game more than you think, and is a feature that sets this game apart from the others in the series.

I did this before. My feng shui is perfect but heck it was difficult esp. where to place fire stations and guard stations because both require rocks. most residential buildings doesn't like rocks so it was a total bummer. but anyhow, i managed to win the game using perfect feng shui. i cheated on some maps though. :D. my verdict, feng shui doesn't really add much to the game. it just makes it more difficult if you are someone like me who likes all the buildings to be green. I played this game on very hard.

In Pharaoh you need multiple types of food to evolve the highest level of housing.

The Feng shui enhances desirability of an area, in it's turn it influences the upgrading of dwellings to a maximum level...

Couple of comments to share based on what I heard in your video:1. You are not allowed to use the Grand Canal, Great wall, or Underground Vault monuments in Open Play.2. If you right-click on rubble the pop-up message will tell you the prior building that was on that tile.3. Feng Shui has a big influence if you are playing at one of the higher difficulty settings.

i like this game the most since in my opinion, they were able to resolve issues from its predecessors. example, in caesar 3, the only way to block roads is by building city gates which emperor addresses by implementing a city gate that functions as an aesthetic building. the gods are now "interactable". for me , this is the mid tier difficulty because of its more sophisticated design and mechanics. pharaoh and caesar are way more difficult. if you understand both caesar and pharaoh, zeus is just a child's play and emperor is the mid ground.

You needed varied sources of food to improve happiness in Caesar 3 as well, though there weren't that many options: wheat, meat, fish, wine, olive oil

Would be nice to see a video about knights & merchants. Really funny "walker game". Delivering food to your troops was a big thing as I remember it.

Do you plan on doing any of the Anno games or Children of the Nile (the spiritual successor to the Impressions builders)?

I played all three of this series and spent a lot of time with pharao, which I have the best memories with. But Emperor is probably the best game of the series. Its the final titel where the devs implemented everything they have learned from the older titels and impoved where needed. Like the combat is not AoE2 but better then before. But maybe people were already fed with these type of city builders at the time of its release and thats the reason that it never became as popular. Or the asian setting wasn't as appealing to an european audience as Rome, Eagypt and Greece were

Zeus easier than Emperor? For me, Emperor was the easiest one. Maybe not because of low complexity, the difficulty of campaigns was just very low (except Turbulent Winds and I did not played last campaign, I hope for some challenge, I played on very hard). Then Zeus, then Caesar, finally Pharaoh was hardest for me.

zeus is the easiest esp. if you played pharaoh before zeus. emperor is the middle ground. i played caesar, pharaoh, zeus and emperor. zeus is the easiest since you don't have to appease ods and that is a huge thing. build temples and the gods will protect your city from rival gods/goddesses. make tons of industry and trade and basically at that point in time of the game, you already own it. also the military aspect of zeus is the easiest since you can literally make your citizens into militia(throwing rocks to their enemies...) to defend your palace. you are not considered "conquered" if the enemy wasn't able to destroy your palace. also with zeus, the requirements of housing are very easy to achieve. i can even name every goods needed for houses both elite and common housing. food,water,3 education, fleece and oil, then voila that is the highest tier of common housing in zeus. elite housing requires the additions of stadium, armor , wine and horses and that's pretty much it. no fancy food requirement or whatnot. your citizens can eat sea urchins and oranges without ever complaining.

@@brutalmadness9099 But did you win all the mission on Olympian difficulty? I was not able to do it. I did won every mission on hardest in Emperror though.

@@milanpospisil8024 Yes. It's easy. The trick is, just do trade and maintain a positive balance and you will not lose EVER! You can just bribe your enemies or..... If you really like war that much, build Ares, Artemis temples and they will give you free military units. On top of that, Ares will even provide you an "unkillable" dragon. You can also build Hephaestus since it also give you Talos that will protect your city in times of war. Not to mention if you have heroes :D! So.... in that sense... you have like a lot of units that will fend your city from attacks. I played Poseidon and Zeus and I find this series the easiest game amongst te four (Caesar, Pharaoh/Cleopatra, Zeus and Emperor).
