What worries me most is that companies will probably use the incoming tariffs as an excuse to artificially inflate prices. Some of these companies have already shown that they’re willing to bring the prices of products up way past even what inflation would bring. Consumer electronics, however have been the one thing that inflation hasn’t really messed with, and I’m hopeful that that will continue

Companies inflate prices tariffs or no tariffs. Let’s be honest.
@TheLordAizen3 күн бұрын
There is still a world of difference though. You say they inflate prices but a 25% tariff means a 25% increase on an already inflated price. Like you can argue the ps5 is too expensive at $500 but if the tariffs on various parts is about 20%, then the too expensive ps5 is now $600. People already are mad at inflation. Not only that, the president elect also wants to pressure the feds to do massive rate cuts. That combined with tariffs is asking for crazy inflation across probably all sectors even with decreased demand
@SWAIMERS3 күн бұрын
@TheLordAizen didn’t the president elect do tariffs last time he was in office? I don’t remember things being more pricey tbh. I know we are in different times but just him saying he’s doing tariffs already has companies making moves to be more domestic or keep prices the same by producing somewhere else. The companies know if they raise their prices to high they will lose profits. They are going to be forced to keep it affordable to an extent. I feel like this video was decently neutral but fear mongered a bit. I guess we will wait and see what truly happens.

Because inflation usually takes years to build up. You can't change market momentum like flipping a switch. The 2020 & 2021 inflation nightmare was a result of Trump's actions in 2018 and 2019. Tariffs however, do raises prices within weeks/months.

@@Drift0r really? The last administration blamed Covid for inflation. So which one is it? I’m not trying to make this political but it’s a bit unavoidable sorry lol. There isn't as much human labor involved as the process as you might think. Just 4 or 5 people in a single factory can crank out hundreds or even thousands of devices in a single shift, their wages are nothing compared to the cost of international shipping. The tariffs just add further encouragement for companies to bring production state-side, which is part of the reason why Biden kept upping the tariff on semiconductors after creating the CHIPS act. (BTW, those CHIPS act tariffs are going to have a much larger impact than what Trump wants to do, the tariff on semiconductors is going up to 50% next year)
@robob2213 күн бұрын
@@GremlinSciencesthe labor that is involved up and downstream is what people are referring to. Not just the act of putting a chip on a board. This whole conversation falls apart when anybody who takes this video seriously didn’t fully understand the totality of this policy and why it was put in place. Listen to the people trump has by his side. Vivek or JD talk about this in detail on podcasts where you can learn a lot about the geopolitical issues stemming far beyond Biden being in office. @@robob221 Rather than how the current administration structured information control, it's how they didn't tell the People anything before making major decisions. The CHIPS act passed to almost no acclaim, encouraging domestic production of semiconductors and electronics, then they reinforced it by silently creating a massive tariff on semiconductor imports, before silently doubling it and passing the blame to the next administration when that proved to not be enough. They also went and decided to push for a national switch to all-electric, while silently creating tariffs on everything needed to make that switch. But even with all that income from the new tariffs they silently created or increased, it still wasn't enough to pay for all the other garbage they silently passed.

Probably worth mentioning that China copying tech is something that's built into their contract. International companies have to agree to this to access the cheaper and much larger Chinese labor force. All parties are perfectly aware. It's one of the methods that have allowed the country to develop so quickly. On the point of climate and pollution, this has also been much better in China in recent years, especially if you look at the data as per capita but also without (there's been record growth in low carbon emission energy sources). Hi, I'm sorry, how much money is needed to collect a normal gaming system? And can you buy all these items in installments? I would be happy if you could help me ❤️❤️ because I want to buy a computer and a PS5 بازخورد

Bro , prices have been going up at a ridiculous rate already , where have you been….?

And tariffs are about to make the pain a hell of alot worse.

If you think prices have been going up too much already, you should really hate the tariffs because they are only going to worsen the situation.

Inflation (rate of increase in prices) has been controlled for months now. It's now at a good rate below 3%. Blame your wages not increasing for any sort of pain your wallet is feeling.

@moznum6 tarriffs will incentive american industry and drive up wages. No more Asian slaves making our junk that lasts 3 years. It must end
@zoanth43 күн бұрын
@alexandros2638 corporations profit lines won't allow for increases to wages cuz cost of materials and service are our of control. Far from it for me to devils advocate for corporations, but this is the reality. Even the wokest corporations that espouse socialism won't even give raises.

USA is the largest gaming and consumer economy in general Sony microsoft or any other conpany wont risk hurting their biggest buyer If you want to see this more compare USA to other contries ps5 is more expensive in europe and UK and much higher in contries like mine in egypt while kind of cheaper in places with no taxes like dubai The higher prices were already there to combat inflation even tho the profit margins are at all time high

Sony is not an American company. Nothing they do will get tariffed. You put tariffs on Chinese company’s selling products in the US. Not Japanese. Learn something.

Uhhh.. you should really look into where PS5's are manufactured. You might be surprised to find that they aren't made in Japan any more than iPhone is manufactured in America.
