as the palm rejection there is a setting in devices>pens and you can select disable touchscreen when pen is active so it deactivates touch when hovering-drawing with pen and enables touchscreen like 1 second after

A fun experiment would be to use Throttlestop in the background and have 2 key bindings which switch between 2 presets. You can set one preset which has turbo boost disabled (or maybe use less power through FIVR). As you can see, the package power is always running in PL1. Performance, especially on these systems which allow a descent power draw can increase quite a bit when running in PL2. I do the same as a laptop user. I have 2 presets which have turbo of and turbo on. Sometimes when there is nothing in the game, I can disable turbo so that the PL2 clamp time recharges and when I need to get serious in the game, I enable turbo and I get a bit more fps than just running in PL1. Oops, I forgot, Throttlestop doesn't support AMD processors. There are other softwares of course.

lol, imagine using third party tools to get your thing running like it should. i used throttlestop with my old i7 7700hq and gtx 1050 ti laptop and, while it was useful, it was very inconvenient too. I now have a 12450h and rtx 2050 laptop and i tried to mess with undervolt with throttlestop, but i gladly find newer mobile cpus don't support throttlestop (undervolt part), so, whatever, now i play with up to 90c degrees depending on how demanding the game is and i just dont care, if anything happens, i will blame intel or Asus. Intel said 90c is fine. haha

I actually love these Laptop/Tablet Combo Systems! You can work with it, draw on it, take the keyboard off and watch YT Videos or Series on it, but with this one you can also play Games! AMD just nailed it with the 780M APUS. It´s quite expensive, but I would totally buy one :) I received a used GPU for my Collection that you don´t have Kryzzp hehe :D It´s an R9 390X Strix, it´s so beautifull! Still need to test it though.

I can see why the Surface tablets are soo expensive. It's the built in hinge design - so much extra tooling is required, plus the micro gears, springs and the workforce to assemble it all. Minusforum gets a pass for the inexpensive back folding hinge cover design... they have made their tablet soo much more powerful than anything Microsoft has to offer for half the price. Easiest purchase for me.

Next up will be the 64mb cache version that supports the CPU and igpu. If 8840u does not support vcache, I would expect that strix will have the ability to have vcache. The CPU would go from 16mb to 48mb and the igpu doesn't have dedicated l3 cache or the equivalent. Huge uplift and efficiency. AMDs next apus are going to be very impressive for handheld gaming.

I set mine to 8gb as well but I run games at 800p cause it’s a perfect 4 to 1 pixel ratio so there’s no interpolation. You can run 800p on high settings no problem, and it looks way better than 1200p low settings. Titanfall 2 was consistently above 60 fps and looked incredible. 800P is the perfect resolution for the screen and the cpu

I think the main issue is the power target for the 780M, looking at how low those clock speeds are. Have you tried manually adjusting the wattage to get the rated 2700mhz? Still impressive how well this performed. I just think it could do a lot better.

I got mine last night from China. Had to sort out a stupid 'enter your PIN' bug with win11 set up, so didn't get much chance to try it. The most demanding games I'll play are probably Tekken 8 and the Left 4 dead games (steam deck screen is too small for these). Most of my gaming will likely be retrogaming up to Dreamcast (Mr Driller). I'll probably dabble with higher end emulation but just out of curiosity. Hopefully this will turn out to be a decent 3 in one for me (MS office work, gaming and extra monitor). I have the dual screen Yogabook 9i and that can't game for toffee.

Despite of 28 Watts the performance is absolutely great!! Does the Display support Freesync? 12:20. Its true. AMD call it Smart Access Memory. It doesent matter if you allocate 256MB or 8GB of video RAM. It takes what it wants. Works even on GPUs.

yeah but its good to allocate more than 512MB or so.. When i tried to play with my IGPU and it used 512MB even though it also used RAM as vram i had stuttering. So i allocated 2GB as VRAM and stuttering was gone.

If you have a lot of money this would be really cool to carry alongside of a gaming laptop with powerful specs but a bad screen like the MSI GP68HX. Would be cool for creativity stuff or a portable dual monitor gaming setup. The price would be a bit steep for that though, so the only real use case I can think of is for students that do some sort of study that requires them to be able to draw but also render out some light things, like for a design study.

You can run everything at 165hz, this was recorded with a capture card and some games will be stuck to 60! But without a capture card it'll be fine 👍

The CPU seems reasonably impressive, but on GPU side, it's a bit underpowered, so probably wouldn't be a match for the 780M. Qualcomm even mentioned possibly working with Nvidia or AMD in future versions for dedicated GPU's to match with their PC socs.

Gotta spend a bit more time with it for battery life testing, I used it for watching videos for about 2h and it dropped about 20%, not bad. Although it was at 60hz and the 15W mode! Haven't killed it yet!

Considering that a Surface Pro 9 with 32Gb RAM, 1TB SSD keyboard and stylus and no real ability to game works out over 2x the price I say that $1199 including keyboard and stylus is a bargain. Re battery life, general consensus on other testing is about 6'ish hours in low push usage,, browsing, video, bit of Word/Excel etc. Push it to the top it can supporrt, 28W, 100% brightness, about two hours gaming. The included 65W GaN charger, it seems it keeps up with max power draw at about 60-61W. Tests indicate that even at max piush there is NO thermal throtting. Another user "mudkip" loaded up, installed and ran Fedora KDE and his write up is very positive, some small driver niggles (auto rotation seems to be problementic as an example) but touchscreen, fingerprint reader, stylus use etc all work without issue it seems. One area that NoteBookCheck identified is that at idle it still pulls about 11W when it really should be down around 5-6W, possible BIOS fix down the road would be useful?

@@everalm1 well that's good to hear, no thermal throttle and good Linux support, plus the charger can keep up with the max power draw. If it was made with an Intel CPU it would have been much worse, AMD is the obvious choice in this form factor. I use KDE on my laptop but for a tablet I'd love to use GNOME, but at the end it doesn't matter very much since I actually like all desktops and window managers on Linux
