Great video. I'm surprised you're the only channel that made a video like this. Could you please make a video on setting up retroarch and, if possible, and a front end for your game collection?

Hey. Sure, I will add to my plans a Retroarch setup video. The front end topic will have to be a separate one and will also require some research. There aren't that many for Android TV, and I suspect I will need some sideloading. Thanks for watching!

Does this support bluetooth?

Sure it does. I'm using bluetooth for a mouse and a keyboard without any issues.

Great Video. I had NVidia Shield and it was working great with GeForce Now and cloud gaming. Do you think Google streamer performance would be the same?
@CloudGamingCouch18 күн бұрын
I think you will not notice a big difference with cloud gaming. I do want to say the Shield Pro is still the more powerful device. The big issue with the Shield is that it doesn't support Av1 codecs nor Hdr for youtube. I wouldn't mind if it was temporary, but with no more support for the shield it feels like a fatal flaw. Otherwise I would still favour the Shield Pro.

For the moonlight to the pc, is this a playable device for more demanding emulators or steam games? Other reviews are saying the sponsoveness of this are better than a regular chromcast but not by much, but no one has performance tested moonlight. Your input lag test looked like it had a good amount of delay in it...

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by your question. Moonlight is just streaming, so really not much performance is needed from the device. It's the PC doing all the heavy lifting. That's why no one has performance tested it. With moonlight the Google Streamer does the exact same work whether you play and AAA title, or Tetris. It already worked well on the previous Chromecast and it works at least as good here. There's the usual amount of input lag, but not more than the amount I get streaming with moonlight to any other device, handhelds, phones, etc. Now, for emulation, that's a different story. I will test this soon for a retroarch setup video, but I can tell you that as usual with these kind of devices, it will probably start breaking at demanding ps2 or psp games, but will play fine most stuff below that. I hope this clarifies somewhat. Feel free to ask further questions if that's not the case.

@CloudGamingCouch thank you. There was more than one review I saw that said the Onn boxes hardware was causing noticeable lag using moonlight vs other devices. So I just want the cheapest device that has no delay using moonlight over Ethernet to play steam games and emulators from my PC. If your opinion that this one is no better for that than a precious Chromecast then I'll probably just pick up one of those and a eithernet/USB hub

Fair enough. If you are thinking on using some emulation directly on the device, then I do recommend this one, since the slightly stronger cpu and bigger storage will make you life much easier. Also, as I mentioned at the end of the video, I did notice a slight better input lag when doing cloud gaming on Geforce now. I jumped from the chromecast and I wouldn't go back.

Kodi is missing

fair enough. I use PLEX so I don't need Kodi for my stuff. But I could see how you might want it depending on your needs

No gameplay tests? Really?!!

Besides the lag test at the end, everything else is cloud streaming. If you want a video about emulation performance, I just released one for retroarch, and it uses this device. Anything else you were expecting?
