Dragon age the veilguard is one of the best looking and most optimized games I have ever played. Combat is great and the story is good so far. But since someone said it is woke ppl are hating like there is no tomorrow and they don’t realize that ppl consider that type of behavior just as bad as putting pro nouns in your game. And check this out, the only time you will encounter any wokeness in the game is character creation. That’s it. If you blink you will miss it. I am a conservative to the bone and this game doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Glad I don’t care about pronouns or what KZbinrs think. Instead I just get to play an awesome game.

Good review, in my opinion. Seems like he just states the facts about the game and his thoughts towards them without the emotion or biasness like other reviewers out there have. With that said, I am going to pass on this. I don't like the art style nor do I care for how bland the story is, from what others and this reviewer is stating. honestly, having spent around 10 hours in the game, the dialog is fine, my complaint is more with how one of the voice actors decided to play the character, incredibly bubbly and enthusiastic, even in the face of grave danger, it just... doesn't make sense. But aside from that character, the dialog with everyone else has been pretty consistent, and the story works well imo.

I bought this game because I loved Dragon Age: Inquisition and was eager to dive back into the Dragon Age universe. Unfortunately, this entry feels like a missed opportunity. Instead of drawing me deeper into the story, the writing often pulls me out of the experience. While inclusivity is important, these moments disrupt the flow and detract from the fantasy setting, leaving me wishing for a more nuanced approach. Visually, the game is a mixed bag. The world itself resembles a polished-up World of Warcraft, which works well enough, but the character models are surprisingly rough. Paired with the simplistic dialogue, it can make the whole experience feel jarring, almost to the point where it’s hard to stay invested. I really wanted this game to succeed, but it feels like Bioware focused on checking boxes rather than delivering a compelling story. The drastic reduction in the ability you have to tweak how the game controls party members was the final blow to me. That was by far and away the biggest stand out feature that made Dragon Age unique imo. It was amazing in Origins it felt like I was having the full mmorpg experience in a single player game while Inquisition could at least still make the game feel like a real time with pause CRPG. The change of the combat system though seems to have nearly destroyed any semblance of that system working like it used to. The huge down grade in writing already had me really effy on whether I actually wanted the game or not, and now seeing my beloved combat system being destroyed has removed virtually all interest in this game. The only inkling of interest I have left for the game is the long term effects it will have on Bioware like will this be the nail in the coffin for the studio. Since I already have Gamepass ultimate tier for PC which has EA's basic tier of it's subscription service wrapped into Gamepass I'll just be waiting for EA to put the game on there. For example it only took them a little over a year to put Jedi Survivor on there which easily a much better game than this (it's main and really only issue was optimization) .

I love your channel but here, although I gave it a Like, the review made me feel, thus it's 100% subjective, that you waited to see most other reviews before to give a too risky review from your own thoughts. Nevertheless, I read/watched 2 dozen of reviews and if I had to mix all I heard, it would match your review's arguments. I love vg press since 40 years. I know since months that I would probably not play Veilguard. I was too disappointed to not see a very tactical cRPG combat direction and to not have "non-Walt Disney" violent tensions within the team or with other NPCs and walk-on-eggs decisions in almost every dialogue in the game. After all, Dragon age origins was new Bioware's "Baldur's gate" back in 1998 and I loved it. It's just a shame for me that I'll never wander in these outstandingly beautiful environments of Veilguard, the only thing attracting me. Their environmental artists should work in a better and smaller company in my opinion. They rule.

Key cast members are gay, but noone cares or is bothered by it because it feels like a natural bland just like in real life. In this game the player gets lectured on the subject, that's a key difference. Similarly, noone bats an eye at black leads in games like Miles Morales, GTA V, Crackdown or Deathloop. People DO care about race/gender swapped Mr Freeze in Suicide Squad or the alternate history version of Yasuke in AC Shadows because that's overly obvious just there to make a point. People just don't respond well to being lectured.

The game is genuinely a decent arpg with nice visuals and soundtrack but it is obvious from the moment you boot up that this is not a Dragon Age game. The rpg mechanics are simply that of an arpg and no more complex than that. This may be fine for some but by far the most egregious is the voice acting and character writing. These battle-worn characters who are witnessing apocalyptic events chat like excitable high school students. Worse still, they all converse with a modern parlance which is completely immersion breaking. Is this what Bioware meant when they said that the game was for a "modern audience"? Ironic as there is very little originality on display. A shame as, underneath it all, there is a decent arpg in there.

When did publishers decide that people were no longer interested in more strategic/tactical gameplay? We just went through this with Final Fantasy and other, smaller RPG sequels. At least Final Fantasy XVI went with darker, more mature themes and settings. I'm enjoying Veilguard but it just feels like a completely different world than the previous 3 games. At least those felt like they were a part of the same game series. If it wasn't for Varric, I don't think I'd associate this game with Dragon Age at all.

It’s more of a solid 5 tbh the writing in the start, the awkward animations and faces, and the voice acting all aren’t good. Game has a bland and safe feeling. I’m assuming to make investors happy. Combat is fun but lame that they only target you? Leveling and side questing wasn’t bad. I enjoyed most the charcters/companions. BioWare needs to do better in the future.. I liked inquisition. This feels like they didn’t want to/ didn’t have time to work on it more and flesh things out.

You know I wouldn't hate the combat so much if they had just put some effort into keeping *some* of the tactical elements from the old combat system. Like they could've left in the tactics system, let us switch to allies while in tactical pause to position AOEs, even integrate a FF7 Remake-type ATB meter for issuing your allies commands that you could stock up to execute combos, etc. They didn't have to lean so hard into the action direction that they completely ditched the series tactical party-based RPG roots, they could've put more effort into leaving things in that satisfied old fans. Of course, I think you can tell how little this game cares about Dragon Age fans in how little reactivity it has to decisions made in previous games, and in its radical shift to the art style and tone. Dragon Age Origins was one of my most formative video games as a kid and this game makes me feel just entirely left behind and forgotten in a way that neither of the previous games - for all their bad attempts to move the series forward - never did. This feels like a game made for a new audience, willing to sacrifice the experience of existing fans to do it.

7/10 is an honest review if you are a teenager. Personally, I will not play it because of the "woke" aspects. I have to deal with that at work, and after work, I want to forget about corporate bullshit and have fun.

Personally, I'm glad to see games designed for all kinds of people. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bummed out about Dragon Age though. I was hoping it would be a game guys could enjoy.

The departure from Bioware of the real talented people over the years is felt in every release since 2015. The icing on the cake is Failguard. Failguard is what broke the camel's back. What did the fans of the framchise end up with? The short end of the stick. Typical post 2015 bioware.

Skillups and Matty's reviews were accurate. I am sure there are people at EA/Bioware whom wish they could have prevented them from reviewing the game. It's not a good game. RPG Division calls it the "worst rpg ever made" and uh he may be right.Years ago there was ag ame called shadowmadness that people back then considered the worst rpg ever made and I use to think that but eh this one may be worse.
